“Oh for the love of Pete.” Commented Quin as she briefly jingled the lock on the cellar to see if it would break itself loose. (Something that she managed no success with) Giving up on the cellars padlock Quin dropped it skirting along the side of the palace till she came to the walls of the central courtyard which with all the ivy growing along the sides of them Quin realized would be the fastest way that she could get back inside of prince Owen’s castle. Even if they were about fifty to a hundred feet tall.
Determined as ever to get back inside of Prince Owen’s castle Quin began to climb the ivy vines continuing to make her way all the way to the top of the wall. A wall that became harder to climb as the sun started to set and thick gray rain clouds hovered about sending out trickles of rain.
“Really? Rain now.” Commented Quin out loud in disgust as she scanned the central court wall and realized that there wasn’t any ivy veins to climb down the wall into the inner courtroom side of the wall with.
The only way that she was going to get down was to find the central courtyard iron gate. A gate that was open and was a good five feet away and ten foot down away from the central courtroom’s stone walls.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this.” Said Quin out loud to herself as she resecured the scroll inside of her apron and crawled on her hands and knees until she reached the stone pillar that stuck out just a little bit before the front iron gate. A stone pillar that was a five foot drop with a flaming two foot torch sticking out of it.
“This is definitely not that safe, but I have to try.” Said Quin as she realized that she would have to make the five foot jump to the iron gate without missing, falling, or getting burned.
Standing carefully upright Quin took a deep breath, and briefly closed her eyes. Then fixating her gaze upon the iron gate and focusing on jumping to it Quin let out her breath that she had been holding and leapt successfully onto it. Something that caused it to swing itself forward and then backward again in response to Quin’s unexpected weight.
“Whoa.” Exclaimed Quin as she felt her foot slip slightly out of one of the iron parts of the gate that she had managed to secure her foot on top of.
Carefully descending down the gate Quin could feel the iron bars starting to get slippery as it started to rain. The last thing that she needed to have happen. Somehow Quin managed to climb back down the iron gate and to run across the central courtyard as if started to turn from sprinkling rain to pouring rain. Something that caused Quin to slip several times before she slid to a stop at the front door which to her relief she was able to push open right away.
Upon hearing the noise that Quin had created Lyle came running to the front foyer his eyes wide with at first alarm but then by surprise as he realized that it was Quin who had entered Prince Owen’s castle.
“Miss Quin… we’ve been searching everywhere for you, don’t tell me that you’ve been outside all of this time?” Asked Lyle as he closed the front door behind Quin and then took off his overcoat and draped it around Quin to keep her from getting cold.
“You can say that I was.” Replied Quin as she allowed Lyle to escort her to the area that prince Owen and several of the servants had gathered.
An area that was oddly in a concealed room that Lyle revealed by pulling open a door that looked like it belonged to a closet. But turned out to belong to the so called “safe guard” room that prince Owen had used multiple times with his servants before.
The “safe guard” room wasn’t like the other rooms of the palace for it was more like a pantry aligned with bottled fruits and vegetables, and wines. Along with sacks of flour and cornmeal.
There were also several other miscellaneous supplies as well like barrels of gunpowder and several other spare blankets and pillows. There was also four cots that Flora, Drake, and the other servants had gathered by as well as around a hand carved wooden table with matching hand carved stools. A table that prince Owen was seated at and upon seeing Quin and Lyle stopped looking over a map that he had draped over the table with small figures of men on horses that looked like miniature chess pieces.
Something that told Quin that prince Owen was making some sort of a battle plan. Something that Quin did not approve of.
“Quin, you’re alright… I thought the Armordorian troops captured you, good gracious what happened?” Asked prince Owen in a concerned tone of voice as he stood up from the stool he had been sitting on and met up with Quin who Lyle followed after her closed the door to the “safe guard” room behind himself.
“That’s a long story prince Owen, and of little importance.” Replied Quin modestly as she searched inside of Lyle’s overcoat to reach into the back of her apron to pull out the scroll that Adam had gave to her.
“No importance Quin, Nonsense, I want you to know that I care greatly for you as well as the rest of my staff… even if I tend to be a bit rude at times, it doesn’t mean that I don’t care.” Explained prince Owen as he took Quin’s free hand and held it in between both of his hands.
As prince Owen did this he realized how cold Quin’s hand was. Something that told him that Quin had been left outside.
“Dear lord, did you get locked out of the castle in the gardens Quin?” Asked prince Owen in an annoyed tone of voice as he cast an annoyed look towards Drake.
“Yes… but it was nobody’s fault but my own, prince Owen I have something to give you.” Informed Quin as she pulled out the scroll and held it out to prince Owen to receive from her.
“What’s this?” asked prince Owen as he accepted the scroll from Quin.
“It’s from a messenger of King Stephen’s—a wounded messenger.” Informed Quin as prince Owen unrolled the scroll and Lyle scurried behind prince Owen so that he could read the scroll with him as well.
“A peace treaty, really? Quin is this your idea of a joke?” Asked prince Owen as he realized what the scroll was.
“No of course not prince Owen.” Replied Quin in a slightly offended tone of voice.
“It can’t be.” Denied prince Owen as he handed the scroll over to Lyle and then turned his back towards both Lyle and Quin so that they couldn’t see the surprised expression that he had on his face.
“Why is it so hard for you to believe prince Owen, don’t you want to have peace between Irlantica and Armordora?” Asked Quin as she took a few steps towards prince Owen.
“Armordora… that country has many enemies, in case you don’t already know this Quin thanks to that country I no longer have any parents.” Explained prince Owen as he explained why he considered Armordora an enemy of his as well as Irlantica.
“…so I’ve heard and am sorry to hear, but wasn’t it the result of the war of Rain that caused that prince Owen? A war that many lives were lost as a result of?” Asked Quin as she pointed out that it was the war that should be blamed and not one particular country.
“The war of Rain! Don’t speak vainly about it! It was my father’s last battle!” Shouted prince Owen as he started to get enraged upon hearing mention of the war of Rain.
“Sorry…” Started Quin as prince Owen started to threateningly advance towards her.
“Listen to me Quin, there is a reason why that war is never mentioned again… so please don’t bring that up again.” Said prince Owen as he managed to get a hold of his temperament enough to calm himself down.
“Don’t worry I won’t, I just advice that you do not go through with a future war, not when a peace treaty has been brought to you from—well you know—and if I might say so myself upon meeting this wounded messenger he did not seem like he intended on hurting me, even after discovering that I’m a citizen of Irlantica.” Explained Quin as she pointed out that the Amordorian messenger that she had met did not seem to have met her any arm.
“Well you don’t appear to be hurt, so perhaps I was mistaken, maybe that Amordorian soldier was really a messenger… but we don’t know for certain.” Said prince Owen as he started to take in what Quin had said to him.
“Well this message does have the Amordorian seal on it and it does appear to be written in king Stephen’s hand, so it is a legitimate peace treaty your majesty if you agree to sign it and send it back with someone to King Stephen.” Explained Lyle as he finished examining the peace treaty scroll that he had received.
“That means that we struck down a royal messenger, and Lyle—“ Started prince Owen but then he cut himself short as an oddly coded double knock and tap could be heard on the door to the “Safe guard” room.
Upon hearing the knock Lyle went to the door and answered it. Then he picked his head out and the low gruff voice of Jonah could be heard through the door. Words like “…messenger… servant… granted safe keeping.” Could be heard by both Quin and prince Owen informing them that Jonah and prince Owen’s guards had discovered the wounded Armordorian soldier.
“Yes of course… don’t leave the lad laying there.” Replied Lyle to Jonah as he indicated that he had spotted something out of the corner of his eye in the front foyer.
“Is there an Amodorian in my castle?” Asked prince Owen as he made his way out of the “safe guard” room and pushed his way past both Lyle and Jonah.
“What do you think you are doing? How dare you come here, bringing what, are you really expecting me to believe that you’ve come here as just a message barrier from Amodora?”Asked Prince Owen as he stepped out into the front foyer and came face to face with Adam who was forced painfully onto his knees by the two civilian clothed palace guards that worked for prince Owen.
“Ow—yes.”Replied Adam as he winced in pain and briefly looked at the plain clothed guards and then turned his gaze back so that he was looking at Prince Owen.
Upon hearing Adam’s reply both Quin, and Lyle made their way out of the “safe guard” room and into the front foyer area with Jonah after quickly shutting the “safe guard” rooms door behind them and then trailed just a few feet behind Quin and Lyle.
“Prince Owen what are you doing?” asked Quin in a concerned tone of voice as she spotted Adam still being forced to his knees in front of Prince Owen with both of the plain clothes palace guards still surrounding him.
“This doesn’t concern you, Jonah take her away!” Ordered prince Owen as he released the full impact of his uncontrolled and enraged temperament.
“Whoa- wait—not this time, I’m sorry your majesty but I believe you a making a great mistake.” Informed Quin as she dodged Jonah who unsuccessfully tried to grab her.
“I am prince Owen ruler of Irlantica and I don’t make mistakes! Do not try to defy me! I know how to run my own country!” Stated prince Owen arrogantly.
“Your majesty I’m sure that Quin isn’t trying to defy you, nor am I, I just came with a message on that scroll, I assure you, I didn’t mean any harm by it.” Explained Adam as he recognized Quin and realized that she could help him out of his current predicament.
“Quin? I never told you the name of any of my servants… how’d you know that?” Asked prince Owen as he raised his hand and indirectly informed the civilian clothed palace guards to release their hold that they had on Adam. Something that they obediently did causing Adam to drop clumsily to the floor.
“Ow—thanks a lot… like I was trying to tell your palace guard Quin is the servant I gave the scroll to, a scroll with a message that I am need of an answer if upon my return to Amordora.” Informed Adam as he carefully and cautiously picked himself up off of the ground so that he could stand upright again.
“My jove prince Owen this must be the lad that Quin was just telling us about.” Informed Lyle as he realized who the young lad had to be.
“His name is Adam and like I mentioned before he is wounded.” Informed Quin patiently as she pointed to Adam’s wounded leg that was still covered with her handkerchief
“Indeed he had, serves him right for threatening the safety and well being of Irlantica, and be glad that the injury wasn’t far worse!” Threatened Prince Owen.
“Begging your pardon your majesty I have come with a peace treaty and if this upsets you then my apologies.” Apologized Adam as he tried to ease the tensions between him and Prince Owen.
“A peace treaty with Amodoria why should I sign this thing?” Asked Prince Owen in a disgusted tone of voice as he threw the scroll on the ground so that it rolled it’s way in front of Adam.
“Prince Owen this peace treaty isn’t such a bad thing if you think about it, it’s something that would assure that your servants and Irlantican citizens are safe, why are you rejecting it? Don’t you care about anybody other than yourself?” Asked Quin in a hurt and offended tone of voice.
“Of course I do!” Retorted Prince Owen bitterly.
“Then perhaps your majesty, would you kindly reconsider accepting this treaty, it would make Amodoria and Irlantica allies instead of enemies.” Informed Adam as he picked up the scroll and offered it again to Prince Owen.
“My parents trusted an Amodoriain and it cost them their lives, how do I know that you won’t betray me and take my own life from me?” Asked Prince Owen bitterly.
“I never liked that war your majesty, I lost my younger sister Joyce during a fire that the Irlantican troops created in my homestead in Amodoria, but I don’t blame you for that, I blame the war for that… that’s why after my parents Stella and Brett Smitley fled Amodoria I enlisted my services with king Stephen and Queen Katherine as their messenger in hopes to stop more wars then to creating more of them.” Explained Adam as he filled in everyone on why he considered his duties as an Amordorian messenger to be so important.
“Have you seen your parents sense the war of Rain ended with that disastrous flood?” Asked prince Owen as his expression softened slightly as he realized that he wasn’t the only one who had been effected by the war of Rain.
“No your majesty, that’s why King Stephen and Queen Katherine took me under their wing like they did, something that I’m sure you would do as well if you were in the same position as they were.” Explained Adam.
“Indeed Prince Owen has like his parents before him have… now your majesty would you please consider signing the peace treaty.” Prompted Lyle as he politely changed the subject.
“Well my father did say that it is better to act like a friend to create an ally then to start a feud and create an enemy, the peace treaty would be ideal considering that it would prevent any further loss between both Irlantica and Amodoria…” Said prince Owen out loud as he accepted the scroll from Adam unrolled it and looked it over debating whether he should sign it or not.
Everyone was quiet as they waited for prince Owen to respond. Something that after a couple of minutes of silence prince Owen signed the peace treaty and proclaimed “Let the war of Roses be put to an end for Amodoria shall no longer be an enemy but an ally! This is proclaimed by Prince Owen Kingsley, and it shall be done!”
“Thank you your majesty.” Stated Adam in a relieved tone of voice as the plain clothed soldiers released they hold on Adam and allowed him to stand up feeling that he was no longer a threat to them.
As Adam stood up a brief painful expression crossed his face. Something that indicated that his injury on his upper thigh was more serious then he or anyone had realized that it was.
“Oh Adam you can’t return to Amordoria with an injury like that.” Objected Quin in a concerned tone of voice.
“Well considering that I’ve lost my horse and that it is storming outside it wouldn’t be very wise for me to travel right now anyways—ow.” Stated Adam as he attempted to walk but then stepped as he briefly grabbed his hurt thigh and winced in pain again.
“Jonah call off the troops, if we hurry we can catch most of them before they leave.” Instructed Prince Owen as he immediately took action knowing that he would have to act fast before things got to much out of hand.
“Yes your majesty, right away.” Agreed Jonah as he took off through the front door to rushed to get word to his troops as fast as he could.
“Drake you and the guards should head up to the bell tower and ring the bell in case Jonah can’t reach all of the troops, it’s just heavy rain, and as long as you are careful I’m sure that the troops will hear the bell and recognize it as a retreating signal.” Instructed Prince Owen still taking charge.
“Of course, come on guys.” Agreed Drake as he and the two plain clothed guards took off up the stairwell and then headed to the west staircase that lead to the bell tower all of them scurrying along without hesitating or asking any questions.
“That’s about all that we can do for now, Quin take Adam up to one of the spare bedrooms so that he can rest, I will send Flora up to help tend to his injuries.” Requested prince Owen.
“Of course.” Agreed Quin as she made her way over to Adam while Lyle and prince Owen retreated back into the “safe guard” room to tell the other servants what was going on.
“Wow… guess all castles run that way.” Commented Adam as he allowed Quin to assist him as they made their ways across the foyer and up the stairs to the bedroom area.
“Yes, you can say that.” Agreed Quin as she managed to get Adam all the way up the stairs before she realized that she wasn’t quite sure where the spare bedrooms were.
“Is something wrong?” Asked Adam as he realized that Quin had paused and seemed lost for a moment.
“Uh… no, I think anyone will have to do, that’s try this room.” Said Quin as she managed to get to the third door on the right side of the hallway that was directly beside the bedroom that Quin was staying in and across from a door that was slightly ajar that looked like Lyle’s bedroom study.
As Quin lead Adam into the spare bedroom she was relieved to find that it appeared to be unoccupied. For it was a bedroom like the guest bedroom that she was given except this room was bigger and it had a dark oak desk with a matched purple velvet cushioned chair with a green stripe on it. Upon the desk were a couple of books, a stack of parchment and a golden ink well and white quill pin.
“Interesting… and it even has an attached bathroom.” Commented Adam partially sarcastically as he hobbled over to a door that had been left slightly ajar and opened it partway to reveal a white proclaim and gold medaled bathroom before he turned around to and smiled at Quin a few feet away from the bed.
“Thanks a lot.” Said Quin as she gently pushed Adam onto the bed as she realized that he was teasing her.
“Ow--Sorry but you don’t act like the typical royal servant Quin, it’s kind of obvious.” Acknowledged Adam as he allowed Quin to help him prop his injured leg onto the bed so that his legs were both reclined and so that he was laying down.
“And you’re not the typical royal messenger.” Replied Quin as she grabbed a white proclaim bowl that had been left on the nightstand beside the bed and ducked into the bathroom where she quickly filled the bowl with water and returned with the now filled proclaim bowl along with a white washing rag.
“You have to be the first person that I’ve met that has been successful in managing to get Prince Owen to see reason, no offense to prince Owen but why are you a servant here, did you lose your family or something?” Asked Adam curiously.
“No, not on prince Owen’s account, I’m just here for a month or until my father’s name has been cleared.” Answered Quin as she carefully untied her hankcerchief and waited to see how she should attend to Adam’s injuries.
“What was your father accused of?” Asked Adam as he tore the partially ripped fabric of his trouser leg at his upper thigh exposing a badly bruised and only slightly bleeding upper thigh.
“if you really must know my father was wrongfully accused of stealing, and I am here to say that as a Nimble that my father Dale is not a criminal, hopefully by the end of my stay here I will find a way to prove that to be true to everyone who doesn’t believe me, something that will be easier now that Prince Owen didn’t go through with the Rose War plans.” Informed Quin as she cleaned away the blood on Adam’s thigh with use of the water and cloth till Adam’s wound was properly cleaned and no longer bleeding..
“I’m glad he didn’t either.” Agreed Adam as a gentle knock upon the bedroom door interrupted them as Flora entered with a couple of white rags and towels in her arms.
“Oh looks like Quin has you nearly cleaned up, I can take it from here dear, you go ahead and rest.” Said Flora as she realized that Quin had helped tend to Adam’s injury and that it wasn’t as serious as she had thought that it would be.
“Thank you, good night Flora, and Adam.” Replied Quin as she made her way out the door.
“Thanks for your help Quin, hope things go well with your father.” Replied Adam as Quin politely exited and closed Adam’s bedroom door behind herself.
As Quin headed back to her bedroom she felt herself overcome with the feeling of fatigue. Something that indicated that her day was more exhausting then she had intended it to be. Something that made it easy for Quin’s busy mind to seek rest the moment that her head hit her pillow as she successfully managed to drift off to sleep.
The following morning…
Quin awoke and allowed the busy thoughts that were whirling inside of her head to return to her as she brushed her hair and glanced at her reflection in the small china hand mirror that had been set out for her to use.
“I sure hope that everyone slept well, for now the storm has cleared and hopefully I can find some way to get at least prince Owen to change his mind about my father… but at least he’ll be allowing Adam to return to Irlantica with that peace treaty, that must be a sign that prince Owen is willing to change his ways? Isn’t it?”
These questions along with several others whirled about in Quin’s head. For having spent only a couple of days in prince Owen’s castle Quin knew that she had enough chaotic adventure to last her for what seemed like a life time.
Quin continued to brush her hair absent mindedly until a softy knock was heard on her bedroom door and her thoughts were interrupted.
“Yes, what is it?” Called out Quin politely as she headed to the door and paused a few feet in front of it knowing that she should know who was behind the door before she answered it.
“I hope that you are ready Quin, may I come in?” Replied the voice of Flora from behind the door.
“Of course, come in.” Answered Quin as she answered the door and invited Flora inside of her bedroom.
“Glad to see that you’re up and ready dear Prince Owen is requesting your presence in the diner for breakfast, come follow me and I’ll take you to him.” Answered Flora in an excited tone of voice as she rushed Quin out of her bedroom without waiting for Quin to answer.
“Flora please there’s no need to hurry unnecessarily, pardon me for asking but why are you so excited anyways?” Asked Quin curiously as she managed to get Flora to slow down to a more comfortable and steady pace.
“Isn’t it obvious dear?” Asked Flora still gushing with excitement.
“Is what obvious?” Asked Quin in a confused tone of voice.
“Pardon me for being a bit over enthusiastic but since you have arrived at the castle we’re all seeing a change in prince Owen, a change that we have you to thank for… any moment he’ll be like his old self again, something that is a relief to all of us.” Explained Flora as she filled in Quin on what was making her become so excited that morning.
“Me, what do you mean he’s been acting like his old self again?” Asked Quin curiously.
“Oh in time you’ll see what I meant by that.” Replied Flora as she and Quin arrived and then entered into the dining room where prince Owen, Lyle, and Adam were all waiting for Quin to arrive.
“Adam hope you’re feeling better this morning, Lyle and prince Owen glad to see both of you have slept well too.” Greeted Quin politely as she took her seat beside prince Owen at the dining table.
“Good to see you in such good spirits Quin, I have some good news for both you and Sir Adam.” Said Lyle as he politely cleared his throat and continued.
“One of the palace guards has informed us that your father Dale Nimble has returned Adam’s horse to the stables with Drake this morning, something that proves that perhaps we were a bit hasty to call sir Dale a thief.”
“He might still be.” Replied prince Owen sourly.
“He isn’t!” Protested Quin as she started to get slightly angry with prince Owen.
“Don’t question my judgment, I won’t tolerate that!” Demanded prince Owen.
“I don’t believe she was your majesty.” Interjected Lyle politely.
“She better not have been for like it or not you will learn to respect me as you should respect all of your superiors.” Informed prince Owen arrogantly.
After prince Owen said this statement Quin placed down her silverware on the breakfast of eggs bacon and ham that she had been picking up suddenly not interested in eating any longer or being in prince Owen’s presence.
“Prince Owen I thought you changed.” Said Quin in an offended tone of voice as she pushed out her chair and stood up preparing to leave.
“Changed into what? I don’t believe I dismissed you.” Stated prince Owen as he realized that Quin was getting ready to leave.
“You don’t have to prince Owen… that’s get two things clear, one if you truly knew a Nimble like my father you would know that they do not steal, and two you might be my ruler but respect is something that has to be earned not demanded, now if you all would excuse me, I’m really not that hungry.” Said Quin as she said her piece and stepped out from behind her seat and began to make an exit out of the dining room.
“Stop right there Quin! You ungrateful little—“ Started prince Owen as he began to lose his temper.
“Your majesty.” Objected Lyle intentionally interrupting prince Owen.
“Stop or—“ Started prince Owen as he began to threaten Quin.
“—Or what prince Owen, you’ll arrest me under false pretences or lengthen my sentence to stay here, if that is what you want to do then go ahead and act like an inhumane monster, now please excuse me for a moment.” Objected Quin as she interrupted prince Owen and her voice cracked indicating that she felt hurt and felt like she could cry.
Not wanting prince Owen to see her cry Quin rushed out of the dining room and after closing the door behind herself slumped down the outside of the door and began to cry.
“I’ve never meant anybody so ungrateful and stubborn, after taking her in like I did I thought she’d be grateful, sorry for that unpleasantly.” Apologized prince Owen as he managed to get himself to calm down enough so that he could finish his breakfast with Lyle and Adam.
“No disrespect to you your majesty but perhaps Quin was right about her father Dale not being a thief.” Suggested Adam.
“Just because he returned your horse Adam doesn’t mean that he won’t steal from me.” Denied prince Owen.
“Doesn’t the fact that Dale didn’t sell my horse like a thief would mean anything to you your majesty?” Asked Adam politely.
“That is something that most of the town thieves would do.” Added Lyle as he agreed with Adam.
“Great so Dale is honest now, what do you want me to do? Throw him a party?” Suggested prince Owen partially sarcastically.
“Perhaps you should let Quin know that you have no hateful intentions against her father, I’m sure that’s all that she is asking for your majesty.” Suggested Adam politely.
“Guess I shouldn’t have yelled at her either, excuse me gentlemen.” Replied prince Owen as he managed to calm himself down, excused himself and then headed out of the dining room to Quin who upon seeing him hid her face so that he couldn’t see that she had been crying.
“If you want to yell and scream at me go ahead.” Mumbled Quin as she wiped the tears off of her face and then turned to face prince Owen with a hurt and sad look in her eyes.
A look that prince Owen recognized. “Quin I’m sorry I yelled at you, I just don’t like people telling me that I’m wrong about things, it feels like their criticizing me when they do that.” Informed prince Owen as he cautiously approached Quin not knowing if she would allow him to or not.
“There’s no need to feel that way, and people can disagree with each other without it meaning that they are criticizing each other, it’s just a mere difference in opinion.” Informed Quin politely.
“Of course, I should have known that, please come back into the dining room and finish breakfast with us, I’d very much appreciate your company.” Requested prince Owen as he extended his arm and offered to escort her back into the dining room.
“It would be a honor thank you prince Owen.” Replied Quin gratefully as she excepted prince Owen’s arm and allowed him to escort her back in to the dining room to adjoin him Lyle, and Adam so that they could finish the rest of their breakfast together.
Quin, Prince Owen, Lyle , and Adam finished their breakfast calmly and without any further interruptions. When they were all finished with breakfast prince Owen, Lyle, and Quin escorted Adam to the stable area where they met up with Drake who was tending to Adam’s horse.
“Thank you for taking such good care of my horse.” Thanked Adam the moment that he saw Drake and his horse.
“No need to thank me Quin’s father—Dale—he did most of the work, he told me that he was glad to help for he is used to taking in stray animals like that, some of which he mentioned were sick and needed to be nursed back to health.” Informed Drake politely.
“My father and I have been doing that for as long as I can remember, something that my mom Marie Nimble did before she died as well.” Stated Quin in a proud tone of voice.
“That’s a noble thing to do Quin, I’m sure you would make a great royal stable hand like Drake is.” Stated Adam with a thankful smile.
“That is as long as she doesn’t run away with any of the horses again.” Stated prince Owen with a soft and amused laugh.
“I didn’t really run away Prince Owen, after all I could have chosen not to come back.” Replied Quin politely as she tried not to sound as annoyed as she was feeling. For she hated to be wrongfully accused of something that she knew she didn’t do.
“That’s not start another unintentional argument shall we… Sir Adam here is the peace treaty that prince Owen has signed, be sure to send a messenger back here to Irlantica when you return to Amodoria.” Requested Lyle as he politely changed the subject and handed the peace treaty that he had been holding to Adam indirectly signaling that he was ready for Adam to take his leave.
“Of course, thanks all of you, I won’t forget any of you!” Thanked Adam after he received the peace treaty and stored it in his riding satchel. Then after a brief wave goodbye he and his horse took off galloping speed across the field and into the woods.
“God speed to that good fellow, what shall we do next your majesty?” Asked Lyle politely as he turned to prince Owen for an answer.
“With the peace treaty making its way to Amodoria I believe that a royal proclamation shall be declared this evening declaring to the citizens of Irlantica that the war with Amodoria is at an official end.” Stated prince Owen as he realized that he had to publicly announce the peace treaty to the Irlantican citizens to make it official before it was officially validated with the signature on a returned duplicate copy of the peace treaty that he had sent with Adam to Amodoria.
“Splendid idea your majesty, when shall we start preparing your speech?” Asked Lyle in a joyful and yet calm tone of voice.
“Right away of course… Quin if you and Drake don’t mind would you gather up the other servants and have them set up the central courtyard for my speech?” Requested prince Owen politely.
“Of course.” Replied Quin in a half surprised tone of voice. For she wasn’t expecting prince Owen to be as polite and considerate as he was being.
After prince Owen and Lyle departed Quin and Drake headed to the main courtyard together. As they did Drake let out a soft amused laugh as if he had just thought of something funny.
“What’s so funny?” Asked Quin as she continued to make her way to the central courtyard area with Drake.
“It’s not so much funny, it’s just a relief to see that even someone like prince Owen is capable of being nice on some occasions, even if it doesn’t seem natural for him to act that way.” Replied Drake.
“Given time and patience I’m sure that it will.” Stated Quin confidently as she and Drake arrived in the central courtyard and met up with the other servants. Some who had already gathered things for prince Owen’s royal proclamation speech.
