Twilight: seducing, romantic, mysterious, and hot acotrs playing the main characters! What could possibly be wrong with that? It's the major book/movie deal! But I have a problem with Twilight. I don't, however, have a problem with vampires. Vampires were, are, and will be intreguing and interesting book subjects. I have nothing against writing about them. I also don't have a problem with Edward Cullen and Bella Swan falling in love. Love is a perfectly natural thing. It can't be helped. What I do have a problem with, though, is the characters themselves.

What most people don't realize about Bella is this: she is an ungrateful, selfish girl. Bella had a perfectly normal and pretty blessed life. She had two parents who loved her, and even though they were separated, they were on good terms with each other. She has food on the table, clothes on her back, and a roof over her head. When she moves to a new school, people are eager to accept her and be her friend. Even Mike Newton wants to go out with her! But *whoop!* here comes Edward, and everything changes. People don't realize that Bella had it so good, and she was so willing to give it all up for a member of the undead!

Like I said, I don't have a problem with Bella and Edward falling in love. What I do have a problem with is that Bella become so obbsessed with Edward that she was so quick to give up everything: her family, her friends, her humanity, for a vampire when everything she needed was right in front of her ungrateful nose.

Which brings me to another point: Jacob Black. I believe Bella would've been better off with Jake. He was her healer when Edward left her. He's her best friend. He's also on good terms with Charlie since Billy and he are friends. Charlie knows he can trust Jake. He knows Jake won't marry his daughter, sweep her away to a deserted island, get her dangerouly pregnant, and oh what do you know, she's a vampire?! Jake is also a better choice because Bella doesn't have to give up anything. Jake's completely normal (except for the fact he's a werewolf) but she doesn't have to give up her humanity, her family, her friends, everything she has to be with him. She had Jake wrapped around her little finger, and she hurt him. She hurt him deeply because she was too obsessed with Edward Cullen.

Edward is like an addiction for Bella. She's depressed and quiet and suicidal without him, and giddy, lively, and a bit reckless when he's around. He's like a drug. A bad drug. Bella, right off the bat, wants to become one of him. She doesn't think about Charlie, Renee, Jake, or anyone else that would miss her. It also shows how bad Edward is for Bella. More than once, covens of vampires have hurt her, even killed her, because of her relationship with Edward. When he left her, she threw herself off a cliff just to see a halucination of him. Now, tell me, is that normal behavior? No, it's a behavior of an Edward-addict.

It also shows how terribly selfish Edward is. He knows he's bad for Bella. She's been nearly killed more than once. And yet, he keeps her to himself. My main example on this point is when Bella gets pregnant. We all know what marriage leads to on the honeymoon night. It's a natural thing. And yet he does it, not thinking that there may be the slightest chance she could get pregnant. She's human! He's a vampire! BIRTH CONTROL!!! HELLO????

In conclusion, I must say Edward Cullen and Bella Swan are two of the stupidest, obsessive, most selfish characters ever created.
