It almost makes me sick sometimes...hearing people tell other people they love them, expressing utter devotion to them...and then they cheat on them, lie to them, fight with them over the most stupid and trivial things all the time, talk shit about them to their friends, neglect them, call them names, hit them, criticize them in negative ways, etc. Whether it's something small or something big, it all seems big to me, because when you love someone, you should be devoted, you should be honest, you should be trustworthy, you should be understanding and reasonable, you should be kind, you should be caring. Some people do things contrary to their love for someone without even realizing it. People seem to so easily lose sight of what love is really about. It's more than just an intimate form of friendship, it's the deepest and most intimate and spiritual form of friendship. It seems like so few people respect that anymore, because I see so many relationships that are so much less than ideal, it's crazy to me. I would never settle for that. Mistakes are a part of life and a part of any relationship, but constant selfishness and stubborness aren't going to fly.

I also see a lot of strong loving relationships. They're what give me hope. Some people do still understand the true meaning of love, to make sacrifices for each other, to accept one another as they are, to take the good with the bad, to be honest, to be faithful, to criticise with affection, to be understanding, to listen to one another, and definitely never resort to violence.

I'd be so nice to find someone who fully understands this, and is just as willing to give love as they are to accept it.
