I was packing for Summer Camp. I go there every year with my best friend, Grayson. We've known each other since 3rd grade and we were going into11th now. I still remember how we met. We were placed next to each other in Mrs. Langler's class.

"Class, today you will be drawing a picture of your favorite thing! It can be anything you love or care about. Be creative. Ok, you may start!" Mrs.Langler said. When I looked over to see what Grayson was drawing, I noticed him looking at my paper too. So we both screamed out, "CHEATER!", and Mrs. Langler came over and asked us what was wrong and we went on rambling explaining the story. She just said, "Maybe you both like the same things! Here, you both will say what you like the most at the same time in 5,4,3,2..." "SPORTS!" We screamed together. We looked at each other in amazement and smiled. He looked more surprised and I think it was because he thought only boys liked sports. Then, after that we just always hung out and we played football at recess.
"Callie, are you almost ready?" My mom called, taking me out of my memory. "Not even close. I still have to take a shower and get ready." "Well, hurry up, Callie! Camp Meeting starts in 3 1/2 hours and we still have to pick up Grayson and drive the 2 1/2 hours!" My mom said. I rolled my eyes and got ready to take my shower.
As I was washing my hair with my strawberry shampoo, I started to think of all the things Grayson and I do at camp. There's the Pier Party, where everyone goes down to the pier and dances to the bands that perform every summer. There's Game Day, where everyone plays sports all day. There's the Movie Night, where we all watch movies with buckets of popcorn, boxes of candy, and gallons of soda. There's Karaoke Night, where people sing karaoke OBVIOUSLY. And Grayson and I's favorite, the Bonfire Bash where no one doesn't have a curfew of 11:00pm and there's s'mores, music, and the counselors aren't there so all the kids just party while the counselors are out at the bar having their own LITTLE party. The thought made me laugh. I finished my shower and went to my room to find something to wear. I decided on wearing my jeans shorts with a navy blue Abercrombie undershirt under my cream and blue Abercrombie sweater with some flip-flops. I combed back my longdirty blonde hair and tied it back into my usual ponytail. My hair went down almostall the way to my waist. As I sprayed on some light perfume, I checked out my outfit in the mirror and noticed how I'd lost 2 pounds from Sports Camp. I didn't feel confident earlier while I was packing so I had packed both my one-piece and my bikini. But after seeing myself now, I had some confidence so I unpacked my one-piece and just left my bikini in there. "CALLIE!! Grayson has called twice asking where we are and if we're on our way! So hurry!" My mom screamed impatiently. "Ok, ok! I'm coming. Cool it." I said calmly, dragging my suitcase out to the to car. I was so glad that I was leaving my house for a little bit to go to camp. My mom came out to the car and we drove down a couple blocks to get to Grayson's house. I got out of the car and just as I was about to knock on the front door, he opened the door with a big smile. "Hey, I thought you'd never get here, Cal." Grayson said happily. "Yeah. Sorry about that. I was taking my time packing away for the awesome next 6 weeks we'll be spending at the best camp ever!" I said. We hugged for a second and then we ran down to the car with his luggage. We got in the backseats so we could talk and hang out. "So, are you excited?" I asked while we were doing a thumb war. "Oh, I know that trick, Cal. I'm not letting you lose to me again!" He said. He and I giggled. "No, I swear I'm not trying to trick you. Its not like I need to 'cause I'm gonna beat you anyway." As soon as I said that I finally got him, "1, 2, 3, 4, 5! BEAT YOU! AGAIN!" I screamed. "Fine, but I let you win 'cause I wanted to answer your question." He said with a smirk. We both started laughing. "Well, duh! Of course I'm excited. Best part of Florida, best camp, and my best friend." He smiled a big smile. I had to smile, too.
We were already 1 1/2 hours into the drive so we only had 1 more hour. But, Grayson was tired so he fell asleep. I wasn't tired so I was just looking out the window. The views in Florida we're beautiful. I was glad I brought my new pro camera. I had just gotten a new camera for my birthday last month. It was one of those big professional cameras that photographers had. I was really good at taking pictures and I loved it. I took some pictures from the car with the window down and they're beautiful. I looked over to Grayson and noticed the way the sun shined the on his dark chestnut brown hair. He had that type of hairstyle that if you put a beanie on top, there would be curls at the bottom. Almost like skater hair. What a perfect picture, I thought to myself. So, I took a picture. I'd show it to him later. I noticed that I was tired. So, I leaned against the car door and drifted off to a light sleep.
