Then she catches the female half of the power couple, Lark, doing the nasty with some random kid from school. Thank god for camera phones. She has the most powerful person at school kissing her feet for pity, too bad Lark's such a bitch or things might have been different. Indie's bold move, moves her up on the popularity latter. Now she has new friends and two new boys to deal with, one unfortunately being Lark's ex, Hunter.

Lark has everything anybody in high school could ever want, the popularity and the boyfriend. That is until she meets her lab partner, Josh. everything goes down hill from there. Now dumped and at loss of all her friends she starts to date her sweetheart who helps her find the truth in the phrase "Karma's only a bitch if you are". So she silently starts to route Indie on.

Hunter is bored and way too perfect. So he thanks god when Lark brings some drama in his life. But that only lasts a few days. Then he meets Indie, she's just quirky enough to bring out the fun-loving side in him. So he falls hard. Then some random kid that is WAY below him starts to drool over HIS Indie. Some shits about to go down if that kid doesn't back down very, very, soon.

Skylar has always been very loving. Falls easily and heartbroken for weeks after. Eventually he swears off dating. The fates seem to like to play with Skylar so of course only a day after that self oath natural forces draw him to Indie a, this means he gets to know her. Suddenly he's head over heels. Too bad Hunter wants her. Skylar can't handle another heart-break, so he's willing to do anything to make Indie his.

Chapter 4: Skylar

“You know Derrick,” I said as I stopped doodling. “Females should die,”
He looked up at me kind of funny and then went back to writing on a piece of paper, our English assignment probably. “Sometimes I worry about you,” he mumbled.
“No seriously; why would Lark do that to someone as sweet as Indie?” I asked, “Okay maybe she didn’t do it to Indie but still that’s a dick move,” Derrick looked into my eyes and very slowly said, “Indie would die too, you know,” acting as if I was a child.
“Well that would be sad but I would live,” I say matter-of-factly, sitting up strait with my nose in the sky.
“Yeah okay,” says Derrick, douchbag “Your just trying to stick to the oath for twenty-four hours,” he rolled his eyes.
My eyes went wide, “So I can officially like her tomorrow?” I say kind of excitedly.
Derrick studied me for a long while before he said, “I’m not even going to discuss this with you.” With that he ended the conversation and I continued doodling, delaying doing my work

I sat for awhile. Did I like Indie? No, of course I couldn’t. But she is oftly pretty isn’t she? She’s really short though, it’s kind of surprising because when you see her you expect her to be 5’ 7”. But you don’t even notice she’s four inches shorter than what your expctining until you’re right in front of her and she’s below your line of sight.

Smiling I look down at my paper and realize that I drew a bunch of messy hearts. Guess that answers my question.

Another two period’s fly by and then its lunch time. I sit with the ‘popular’ crowd I guess. There’s really no groups at my school, well there is, but if you want to hang out with another one, you’re welcomed with open arms. So the people at this table generally change from day to day.

I talk with the guys before we all go to play basketball for fun in the gym and the girls come to watch.
Basketball is a big thing here because we don’t have a football team. I know freaking crazy right? I think that’s one of the reasons everyone gets along here, because there’s no football team, there’s no pressure to be big, hot, and whatever else high school football players are. But let me tell you, the ego’s the same no matter what sport it is.

I was getting in the zone, shaking my head then by body all the while pointing to my head then the basket before I started shooting the ball from different points, while I waited for everyone to get ready and such.
Just as I line up and am about to shoot Hunter comes from out of no where and push me out of the way, I fling the ball vertically. He catches it bends down and pauses or a couple of seconds, he looked funny, like he was frozen in time and then shoots and scores. He looks over at me before he offers his hand for help. “Be careful Skylar! Don’t want my shooting guard to injure anything!” he gives a smashing smile, a smile too nice for someone named Hunter.
Confused I say “But yo-”
“Oh, hey there bubbles! Didn’t notice you there!” says Hunter, cutting me off. He flexes just a bit, not enough to notice that he just flexed from twenty feet away, but enough to make him look a lot burlier.
Wondering who ‘bubbles’ is, I ask Hunter.
He points to a girl on the bench who looks a lot like Indie, and says, “She’s going to be my girl in two weeks tops.”
“Indie?” I ask, while I kick my foot onto the floor back and forth, making a squeaky noise.
Hunter smiles, “Yeah, she’s the cutest person in the entire world, ever”
I frown a little bit, “You know there’s more to her than just her looks” I say, protectively.
He looks down at me with a look that makes me feel like I just said, ‘I know! If she were a laser she’d be set on “stunning”’
“Cute can mean a lot of things, Skylar, and Indie is as cute as a button from the inside.” He says to me as he starts to run laps.
Can’t say I’m not excited to kick this kid’s ass.

***

Can’t say that I kicked his ass, but were not going to get into that.

After school was over I knew I had to hurry to get to Indie before Hunter did, so I ran like there was no tomorrow.
“Indie! Indie!” I shouted as soon as she came into sight.
She looked worried as soon as I stopped to greet her. “Is something wrong? Is someone hurt?” she asked looking around.
“Nope,” I say popping the ‘p’ and smiled broadly, “Just wanted to say hi”
She smiled and punched my arm playfully, “douche, I thought something was wrong!”
I turn serious suddenly, “There is something wrong” I say.
Her eye’s widen in surprise, “What?”
“Hunter likes you.”

Okay sorry guys I was planning on doing lots of updates this week, but unfortunately I was in the hospital from Friday to Sunday and on bed rest for two more days. On Wednesday I slept and went’ out to lunch with my best friend and then on Thursday my mom took me out shopping in the States because I’ve been though a lot of pain, physically. I was in the hospital because I had an ovary cyst, it took them like sixteen hours to decide that but that’s what it was. A lot of stuff happened and I don’t really want to get into that but I’m fine now, I hope, I just don’t have the official results yet. Anyways I’ll hopefully have a double update today!
