Chapter Twelve

Devon and I quickly got our clothes back on and quickly jumped back on our horses and rode on back to the farmhouse before anyone had spotted us and seen what a terrible thing we had done.

Was it so terrible to fall madly, deeply, passionately in love with your cousin?

When we arrived back at the farmhouse we found Aunt Isabel and Cousin Cynthia sunbathing on deck chairs trying to get a tan from the surprising burst of hot summer sunshine before autumn approached horribly.

"Hi Ma," Devon said, once we had put the the horses back into the stables. "We're back from our ride."

Aunt Isabel, who was wearing a blue summer dress that showed off her slender figure and were a black eye patch over her eyes from the sun, sat up. She lifted the patch onto her head so she could see us. "Hi darlings," she purred with a smile. "Did you have fun?"

"Yes, thank you, Aunt Isabel, very much so," I said back, feeling the heat rising up to my cheeks a bit as I recalled what Devon and I did not so long ago.

"I'm so glad you kids had fun."

Just then the sound of a loud tractor stopping outside our house grabbed our attention. We all went out to the front to have a look and saw Uncle Herald on a huge blue tractor ; He waved at us and then jumped down from it and swung Aunt Isabel around.

"So, Izzy, honey, what's for dinner? I'm starved," Uncle Herald asked rubbing his hands over his newly rounded belly.

Aunt Isabel turned to her daughter, "come and help me make lasagne for everyone," she said.

Cousin Cynthia nodded and followed her mother inside the house while Uncle Herlad excused himself from us to see to his vegetables in the garden outback.

Devon and I were all alone again with no one around and no one insight. He wrapped his strong armd from riding and chopping woof for the fire in the winters around me and held me close. "I love you, Zoe," he wispered softly into my ear that were like music to my ears that set my heart strings alight.

"I love you, too," I whispered back. I'd never ever really been in love before until now. Why did I have to have these feelings for my cousin? It wasn't fair! I wanted to love him just as a cousin but my heart thought other wise.

Devon and I's lips touched each other's and then we heard someone coughing to get our attention. We spun around and saw Cousin Oliver standing before us in his white tennis outfit with a tennis racket in his right hand. He eyed us with suspicion.

Devon immediately released his arms from me and then stepped back. He and Oliver stared back at one another and then Devon began to walk away from the house and us.

"Hey, where do you think you're going?" shouted Oliver, angrily. "Mama's cooking dinner."

Devon turned back round and threw his hands up into the air. "Tell Ma and Pa I've gone to se an old friend from school, will be back later," he said, his green eyes met mine which were filled with sadness that he had to go and leave me with his brother. Devon turned and walked off down the road.

Cousin Oliver turned to me and stared hard. "I do hope you realise that falling in love with your cousin is against the law, don't you?" he asked bitterly.

I crossed my arms over my chest and replied in the same bitterness as he, "yes, I did, thanks for the lesson," I stared back at him then turned to go back into the house.

At half past eight that evening Aunt Isabel, Uncle Herald, Cousin Oliver and Cynthia, Gene and I gathered around the dinner table except for Devon who was still out seeing an old from school. There was awkward silence amongst us all, we all sat and ate in utter silence. I picked at my dinner as my appetite wasn't up to its usual self because my mind was focused and thinking about Cousin Devon!

Uncle Herald, who sat at the foot of the table, looked at each of us in turn and then threw down his knife and fork that clattered against his plate loudly grabbing all of our attention. I jumped. "Oh, for heaven's sake, Oliver, Zoe, what has happened?" he said angrily. "Why so serious?"

Neither Oliver nor I replied just sat in silence.

"Uncle Herald, Aunt Isabel, I came first in a spelling test today," said Gene proudly. He was succeeding in breaking the icy atmosphere between Oliver and I.

Uncle Herald threw back his head and laughed happily and patting Gene on the back. "Well done, my boy," he said.

Gene felt pleased with himself and glanced over the table at me and I smiled proudly at him and he smiled back. My blue eyes met Oliver's stony expression and then turned myhead away; I began to feel nauseated so I asked if I could be excused from the table.

"Why, of course, Zoe Dear, if you're feeling unwell," said Aunt Isabel with concer. "Do you need anything?"

I shook my head and thanked her for a lovely meal and said goodnight to everyone and then made my way up the stairs to my room and laid down on my bed. My stomach churned and growled inside. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I awoke very early the next morning by Devon quietly coming into my bedroom and poking me gently in the arm. When I opened my eyes I saw his handsome face smiling down at me, I thought it must be a dream. I grounded the sleep out of the corners of my eyes with my fists. "Devon, what are you doing here?"

"I came to see you obviously," he replied lowering his lips to mine trying to kiss me but I turned my head away. "What's wrong? Are still angry I left?"

"Yes, Devon, I am," I said angrily. "You just left me there with your brother who had been giving me dirty looks all evening in front of your parents, sister, and my little brother." I felt my heart melting and pounding for him as I gazed into his big, green eyes. "I love you, Devon."

Devon gave a very sorry look, "I'm so sorry, honey, it's just that I had o go and see an olf friend because we had some unfinished business to attend to. I am trully sorry Ileft you all alone with my horrible brother. I promise I won't leave you alone again."

I nodded.

"Is it allright to kiss you now? Or are still mad at me?" he asked with a desperate look in his eyes which made me giggle.

I nodded my head "you can kiss me now, and no, I'm not still mad," we kissed dlowly and then passionately.

"Can I sleep here with you tonight, Zoe?"

I looked back at him and pulled back the duvet cover and shovelled over to let him in.

Devon pulled off his clothes onto the floor and then climbed into my bed beside me. He lowered himself down on top of me. His hands ran up my thighs slowly and seductively. He wanted to make love to me again in his parents' house. I wanted to tell him to stop and tell him that this was wrong. But the way I felt his hand go up underneath my white night dress and touch me in intimate places stopped me with pleasure making my body respond in trembles of excitement. Devon grinned down at me like a sly fox when I cried out a bit as my body shuddered beneath him. I orgasmed.

I felt Devon slip in between my legs as I felt him harden against me and then entered inside me.

This time when we made love it was a lot less painful than the first time. It was gentle and then it got a bit faster, then faster and faster with passion.

"I love you, Zoe," He said, while making love to me kissing me down my neck,

I couldn't reply as I bit down on my lower lip from screaming out from the pure pleasure of our lovemaking. It took me to new heights that I had never ever experienced before.

The bedsprings squeaked and squealed very loudly beneath us, luckily everyone else's bedrooms were furthest away from anyone to hear us.

Forty minutes later Devon and I laid back in each other's arms all sweaty and breathless. We looked into each other's eyes and kissed. Devon and I fell asleep after that.

When I awoke the following morning I noticed Devon had sneaked out with his clothes. Maybe I had dreamt a very passionate and steamy night with my cousin - the most handsomest man in the world. But I hadn't of dreamt it as there was a bundle of red rose petals scattered on the peach coloured pillow beside me and a note saying.

To my darling Zoe,

It is to my deepest regret that I have to leave your side this morning as my father wanted someone to drive him down to South Devon for the day or for three months on work business. I truly enjoyed and loved every minute and every second of what magical love we made last night. I will always love you forever.

Love, Devon

I smiled and scooped up the rose petals in my hands and brought them to my nose and inhaled their sweet flowery scent. Smelt divine. I was in love, I was in heaven.
