I smoothed out my dress, breathing out deeply as I started to open the massive double doors. What I saw inside shocked me. People walking around everywhere looking totally stressed out while some other person barked orders at them in rage. I slowed down my steps and reconsidered my job options. There had been the art teacher, the janitor, and the yoga instructor. I couldn't do art, rubbish was disgusting and I had no idea how to do yoga, so the only job left had been this job. Alex & Myer's Offices, they called this place. They did the local newspaper, 'Westminster News'. Not a very original title, but it was hard to find charming, attractive and exciting words starting with 'w'. I had thought 'Westminster Wonders' would be a great title, but I couldn't care less about the news.

Suddenly, a woman with bouncy blonde hair walked up to me, smiling widely.

"Hello, you must be Scarlett Moore. My name is Emma and I'm the secretary of your hopefully soon-to-be new boss! Now just sit down here and Mr. Deveraux will call you in." she led me to a seat and sat me down, walking off just as quickly as she had appeared. Honestly, I hadn't really understood a word she had said, so I was really just nodding and hoping that she wasn't asking me questions like 'Are you racist' or worse, 'Are you a lesbian'. I could hardly even imagine that.

"Miss Scarlett Moore? You may enter." I heard a low, male voice say. I stood up and opened the door, expecting some old man with a beard or something. I got the exact opposite from what I was expecting, which was a massive shock. There was a boy with shaggy blonde hair who looked about my age sitting in a chair staring at me in interest. The minute I walked in I noticed that his chair was the only one in the room. Okay, so I couldn't sit then.

"Sit down, Scarlett." he said, a smile playing at his lips. I looked to my left, to my right and behind me trying to look for the chair but there definitely wasn't one.

"Um...sir, there isn't a chair." Even I could hear the confusion in my own clear as bells voice. His smile grew wider.

"Smart girl then, aren't you?"

I stared at him, trying to figure out what he meant.

Oh, right.

Sarcasm.

"Miss Moore, I've seen your job application and it is one of the best I have seen. You have no work experience, you have just moved out of your family home yet you have incredibly good English, grammar and punctuation skills?" I nodded, feeling proud. "That is utterly fantastic." I smiled at him, and he smiled back at me.

"Thank you, Mr....uh..."

"Just Alex. My full name is Alex Deveraux, but Mr. Deveraux is my father. So please, call me Alex." he said smoothly, brushing a bit of his dirty blonde hair away from his eyes.

"Yes, well...thank you. So am I hired?" Even though I did already know the answer to my question, it was always good to be safe.

"Most certaintly, Scarlett. You start on Monday." he spun around in his chair as he spoke, and my eyes widened in shock.

"But Mr. Dev...Alex, it's Sunday today."

Alex stared at me blankly, then quickly replied.

"I know."

I scoffed and started to walk out, clenching my fists in frustration.

"Miss Moore? Have you not heard of manners?" I heard him say as I opened the door. I turned my head slightly as I spoke.

"Thank you."

"My pleasure Miss Moore. My pleasure."
