“I throw my hands up in the air sometimes, saying ayoo, gotta let go, I wanna celebrate and live my life, saying ayoo, baby let’s go!” My alarm clock blared out through my room, making my eyes pop open in surprise. I sat up and slammed my hand down over my alarm clock to make it stop. I began to lie back down. Suddenly, I remembered that Ben was going to knock for me today. I shot back up immediately and ran over to my wardrobe.
I swung the doors open. I scanned my eyes over my clothes but I wasn’t sure what to wear. I walked over to the window and pushed open the curtains. I slid the window open and grinned. The sun beat down happily and there was a slight breeze in the air. I breathed in deeply, feeling refreshed.
Knowing exactly what I was going to wear, I walked back over to my wardrobe and grabbed my yellow sun dress with black roses on it. I smiled to myself and walked through the hall to the bathroom. I turned the water on in the shower and grabbed my towel out of the cupboard. I put my towel on the end of the shower and I slipped my Pj’s off before stepping into the shower. I let the warm water beat down onto my body. After I was finished, I turned the water off, got out the shower and wrapped myself up in my towel I walked over to the sink and brushed my teeth. Afterwards, I dried myself and then I slipped on my dress. Then, I wrapped my towel around my head. I picked up my Pj’s and started walking downstairs.
I walked through the family room, through the kitchen into the laundry room. I put my Pj’s into the laundry bag before walking back out to the kitchen. Now, Dave was standing at the cooker with a sauce pan.
“Good morning Lu,” Dave said, turning around to face me.
“Morning,” I smiled cheerfully.
“Could you wake the others up for me?” He asked.
“Sure,” I nodded and went back upstairs.
I stopped at the first door on the left, Jeremy’s Room. I opened the door and slipped my head in. After my eyes had adjusted to the darkness, I made my way over to the window and I pulled the curtains open, letting the sun light flood the room. I heard a groan come from the bed. I walked over to the bed and picked up a pillow that was on the floor, I pulled the covers off the bed and whacked the figure again and again with the pillow.
“Alright! Stop it already, I’ll get up!” Jeremy growled. I giggled to myself before walking back out the room.
Then, I walked into the room next door. Unlike Jeremy’s room, Jack, Jay and Phoebe’s room was full of light. Jack was sitting on the floor, leaning against the side of his bed whilst he was playing on his game boy. Jay was sitting on the floor next to the window playing with his toy cars. Phoebe was sitting on the floor at the foot of her bed playing with her Barbie’s.
“Whoa! You lot are more awake than Jeremy!” I joked and walked over to Phoebe.
“Come on princess, what you gonna wear today?” I asked Phoebe, “It’s pretty hot today,” I added. I walked over to Phoebe’s red wardrobe.
“That!” Phoebe pointed at a pink dress with butterflies on it. I pulled it out and took Phoebe into the bathroom.
After washing her, I pulled her dress on her.
“I want a towel around my head as well!” Phoebe said and pointed at the towel that was still wrapped around my head; I grinned and grabbed her towel, wrapping it around her head. She giggled before running back to their room to show Jack and Jay.
I followed her and then went to Jay. I picked him up and walked over to his green wardrobe.
“What do you wanna wear today little man?” I asked him while opening the doors.
“Army! Army!” Jay shouted. I pulled out his khaki shorts and khaki tee. Then, I took him into the bathroom. After washing him, I pulled his tee and shorts on him. After he was changed, he opened the bathroom door and bolted back towards their room. I giggled and followed him back to their room.
“Right, Jack, the others are changed, do you want me to help you get changed as well?” I asked Jack teasingly as he continued to stare at his game boy.
“No,” He growled, annoyed that I interrupted his precious game.
“Alrighty then,” I laughed before walking into my room.
I walked over to my desk and sat down. I looked at myself in the mirror. I touched the part of my fringe which was hanging out form my towel. It was still slightly damp. I opened my jewerly box and put on my necklace which had black roses dangling from it. I then grabbed my matching bracelet. Afterwards, I slipped on my yellow rose ring. Then, I put on some mascara and eye liner. Afterwards, I put on a little bit of lip gloss. Smiling at my reflection, I got up and walked downstairs.
As I turned to walk towards the kitchen, I glanced at the clock which read 11:40. I sighed to myself and got myself a glass of water. After I was finished, I washed the glass. Once I’d put it back, I walked back upstairs, noting that the clock now read 1:45. I grinned nervously. I strode up the stairs and to Jack, Jay and Phoebe’s room again.
“Hey guys, do you want some drinks?” I asked, poking my head through the door.
“Yeah!” They all replied at the same time.
“Orange please!” Phoebe said.
“Same,” Jack stated.
“Ohange!” Jay yelled, clapping his hands. I giggled and walked back downstairs. The clock now said 11:49. Wow, talk about pathetic, glancing at the clock every time I go past it. I walked back into the kitchen and got their drinks. I also made them cheese sandwiches and ham sandwiches. I placed them on a tray and began the walk back to their room. The clock now read 11:55.
“Here you go guys!” I said and carefully placed the tray down on the table. I glanced at their digital clock which now read 11:57. I smiled nervously and walked into my room.
I pulled the towel off my head, allowing my hair to fall. I grabbed a yellow rose hair clip and clipped it into my hair. I smiled to myself and quietly squealed in joy. I walked back downstairs and looked at the clock once again, 12:00. Inwardly, I screamed and patted my dress down. I walked into the kitchen and looked in them mirror. I grinned at my reflection and patted my hair down. Suddenly, I heard the doorbell ring. I squealed again and walked into the back garden to see Dave reading the newspaper on one of the deckchairs.
“I’m going out now!” I stated and received an okay.
I walked over to the front door, slipped my flip flops on. I opened the door to see Ben standing there wearing a white tee and blue shorts on. I grinned and looked at the clock one last time, 12:01.
“Woah! You’re one minute late!” I gasped dramatically.
“Oh my! Please don’t cut my head off my lady!” Ben played along.
“Hmm, I guess I will let you off,” I replied, “Who else would I spend the day with?” I asked, smiling. I walked outside, closing the door behind me. We walked over to the park.
“So, why don’t we play 20 questions so we can get to know each other better?” Ben asked as we sat down on the bench. I nodded my head in response.
“So, what are your parents like?” Ben asked randomly. I felt my smile falter the tiniest bit, however, Ben still noticed.
“You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to,” Ben said, worriedly, studying my face.
“It’s fine,” I giggled while shaking my mind, “Well, my dad left us when I was 3 years old. Then my mum met Dave, my step dad who you saw yesterday, when I was 7 years old. But, then she got diagnosed with brain cancer when I was 9. The doctors all said she would only have 8 months left to live. And a year after that, she died.”
“Oh my god, I’m sorry for bringing it up,” Ben replied sincerely with a shocked expression.
“It’s fine, really, I don’t mind,” I laughed at his expression while shaking my head again, “So what are your parents like?”
“Wellllllll,” He began, drawing out the ‘L’, “My mum’s drunk practically 24/7, my dads a twat who acts like I was never even born and he shows clearly that my little sister is his favourite and my mum expects me to make all her decisions for her since my dad keeps threatening to chuck her out,” He chuckled once he’d finished, “So, siblings?”
“I’ve got 4 siblings. My older brother, Jeremy, is 16 years old, my younger brother, Jack, is 10, my youngest brother, Jay, is 2 and my younger sister, Phoebe, is 4, what about you?” I smiled after listing my siblings.
“Wow, big family you have there,” Ben chuckled, causing me to giggle,”I only have a younger sister called Jenny who is 3 and my older brother Jason who is 18, so are you popular or a loner?”
“I’m a loner with no friends,” We both said at the same time causing us both to laugh. Suddenly, Ben took my hand in his,
“Not anymore we aren’t,” He smiled and I grinned, looking down at our hands.
“So, your first day at school here tomorrow, are you excited?” He asked me with a grin on his face. I felt butterflies in my stomach at the thought of going to a new school where I didn’t know anyone apart from Ben.
“Yeah,” I said forcing a smile.
“You’re nervous aren’t you?” He chuckled, reading me like an open book. I nodded shyly and received a comforting smile from Ben.
“It’ll be alright,” He said, “Do you want me to knock for you so we could walk to school together?” I nodded, giving a sincere smile now. Finally, at 6 o clock we decided it was time we both had to get home. After saying goodbye, we walked our separate ways home.
