A Rose's Thorns

C HAPTER 3 [Jennifer's POV] *FLASHBACK* I sat in the cafeteria with my best Friend, Esme. Like everyday at lunch, I'd sit at the edge of the table with Esme, waiting for Coach Norton's class to come in. Jason was in that class, and whenever he walked in, I'd blush. The days where he came to give me and Esme our hugs, I'd smile like an idiot. Until this Friday. "You need to tell Jason you like him." Esme told me, snatching my attention away from the doors. "What? No, I can't do that. Not without embarrassing myself." I said. Esme Just smiled at me. That evil smile I recognized right away. When Esme smiles like that, she's planning something that no one will like but her. "I'll tell him for you." She said, still smiling. My eyes froze on her. "You're what? No! Please don't tell him! Kevin, don't let her tell!" I yelled at Esme's boyfriend as he walked up to us. "Don't let her tell who what?" He asked me. I groaned and let my head slam on the table when I saw Coach Norton's class coming. Esme's smile grew. "Hey guys, look what I got!" Jason said, walking over to our table and showing off his new iPad. "Cool! Lemme see it!" Kevin cried. "No!" Jason yelled, putting the ipad back up in his backpack. Esme looked at me. I moaned. "Esme, don't..." I trailed off. Esme grabbed Jason's arm And he looked at her. I stood up and walked away from the table fast. I was about to leave the cafeteria when I heard a familiar voice call my name. My friend, Lina walked in front of me. To be honest, Lina scares me to the point of peeing myself. "Hey Jennifer! Where're you going?" She asked me. "Uh, I'm going to the restroom..." I lied. Lina smiled at me. "My parents were letting me have a sleepover and I was gonna ask you if-" Lina didn't get to finish. Someone hugged me from behind and lifted me off the ground. I shrieked a little and saw Lina walk away. "Oh my God, I love you too!" I heard the person hugging me say. I'd recognize a hugger this good anywhere. "Jason?" I asked, trying to turn around. Jason put me down and smiled at me. "Did you say-" "Yes, I said I love you!" Jason exclaimed, hugging me tight. I looked at him. "Esme told me." He smiled. I looked at Esme. She smiled at me. I looked back at Jason and he pulled me in and kissed me on the lips hard. 'God, I'm dreaming.' I thought. When we parted, Jason looked at me. "So..." I couldn't find anything to say. Jason gave me a dorky smile. "Are you two dating?" Lina asked from behind me. I hadn't noticed when she came back. I looked at Jason. He looked at me and smiled. "Yeah, we are." He said, wrapping an arm around me. *FLASHBACK OVER* Derek looked at me. "That's...some story you have." He said. I sighed. "Yeah, I guess it is." I said, as tears started to fall from my eyes again. How had all of that ended like this?
