Suffer in Silence: Characters & Summary

Delilah's dad died when she was only four years old, but she still remembers the gleam in his eyes and the way

he smelt of gun powder. She can't get over how many times her mom promised her that he'd be back soon;

that he'd be okay. Now, her little family of three move into an old house on the beach of New Jersey. She hopes

with a new house will come a new life, but she finds herself face to face with a truth that she never wanted to

hear. Then when she meets Marx, a surfer she meets on the beach, she's trapped between learning to let go and

learning how to hold on. There's only one way Delilah knows how to handle it all: just suffer in silence.
