The Story of Us: Amanda and Caleb

Novel By: DaynaMayna

The Story of Us
I looked out the window of my Corpus Christi beach house, and observed the family moving in next door. They looked like the typical perfect American family: A Father, Mother, Son, and Daughter.
The family lugged boxes out of the U-Haul truck, and into the house.
I had always wondered when someone was going to finally move in next door. I mean the house has been vacant for almost 5 years. It was the biggest house on the street, more than twice the size of mine.
“Amanda.” My mom said stepping into my room. “What’s up?” I asked turning away from the window and facing her.
“I’m sure you noticed the new Nabors.” My mother started. I quickly nodded my head. “Well, your father and I decided to invite them over for dinner. They have 2 kids, a daughter who’s in the 6th grade like you, and a son who’s in the 8th.” My mother finished.
“So…this means…?” I asked awkwardly. “Just dress nice and be downstairs in the dining room at 5:30.” My mother replied with a smile.
I walked down the stairs 5:30 sharp, running my fingers through my blonde hair, and tugging on my pink lace shirt. As soon as I stepped into the dining room, (which was usually only use for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) I was greeted by the new family.
“Amanda this is the Saunders’s” my father said, then gesturing to each one of the individually. “Paul, Nancy, Caleb, and Sky.” They all gave me a little wave.
“Um..I’m Amanda.” I replied pulling a smile.
As the parents started making random small talk about school, my eyes fell on Sky. She was a good few inches taller than me. She was flat out tall for her age, but she held her height gracefully. She had long black hair, and stunning blue eyes. Overall, Sky was pretty intimidating.
Then I looked over to her brother, Caleb. It took all the power in my body to keep my mouth from falling open, I couldn’t help but stare. He was tall, just like his sister. He also had the same blue eyes, and black hair. But that’s when the resemblance stopped. Caleb…was just flat out…Attractive!
While I was checking out his eyes for the 100th time in 5 minutes, Caleb caught me staring. I turned away quickly as I felt color rush to my cheeks.
“Let’s eat.” My father boomed, rubbing his hands together.
Soon enough me and Sky clicked, and instantly became best friends.
The next few years were filled with sleepovers ad weekend trips to six flags with Sky.
But also me gawking at Caleb, admiring how cute he is, and laughing at all his corning jokes, Ignoring his countless remarks about all the stupid things me and Sky likes, like Hannah Montana, and The Jones Brothers.
All these years, I’ve been trying to get Caleb to stop seeing me as his kid sisters best friend.
I was freshmen and high school now and pretty grown since the say we first meet.
I’m in love with my best friend’s brother, and I’m determined to get him to love me too.

The Story of Us

"Hello Amanda." Max's mom chirped as I slid into the back seat of their family's minivan. "Hi Mrs. Saxton." I replied back smiling, as Max scooted in next to me.

"You look really pretty." Max whispered in my ear, slapping our palms together, and interlocking our fingers. I felt color rise to my cheeks. "Thanks." I grinned.

Me and Max's date went absolutely perfect. Even though I was absolutely horrid at bowling, Max let me win every game. We had shared a plate of fries and a strawberry slushy, both of our favorites.

"Your house or Sky's?" Mrs. Saxton asked as we turned down my street. "Um Sky's. I'm spending the night there." I replied.

When we pulled into their drive way, Max walked me up to the Saunders front door.

"I had a lot of fun." I said to Max, smiling. "Me too." Max said, grabbing my hand. "And I hope we can do it again soon." He added.

Max looked at me for awhile, as if he was trying to memorize every detail of my face.

He slowly lifts my chin with index finger, and leans in to me slowly. I hold my breathe right as he pushed his lips against mine. Time felt like it stopped. I couldn't believe I was kissing Max Saxton.

As he finally pulls away, I can feel a foolish grin growing on my face. As soon as I focus on Max, I can tell he's mirroring me.

"I'll see you Monday."Max smiles, kissing me once more, the shuffling back over to his mom's van.

I feel a tug on my arm, as I'm being dragged of the front porch, and into the house. "What the-"I look up and see the eyes of Caleb.

"You're too young to be going around and kissing boys." Caleb scolds, crossing his arms over his naked chest. Why does he always have to walk around shirtless, flaunting those abs.

"What do you want me to do? Kiss girls?" I sneered back, rolling my eyes. "Anyways you shouldn't be talking. From what I heard you lost your virginity freshmen year." I added, trying to walking around him, but his arms shot out, pinning me.

"How do you know about that?" He asked his face paling. "Don't you remember? I'm best friends with your sister." I replied smirking.

I actually remember that day clearly. We were doing our homework for 7th grade math, when she mentioned over hearing her brother and his then girlfriend Jessie. I was heartbroken, but I got over it, still aiming for Caleb to fall for me.

"Either way you not that kind of girl. You sweet, innocent, not dumb some whore." Caleb replied, bringing me back to reality. "Thanks." I blushed letting my bangs fall in my eyes.

"Hey Caleb?" I asked from half way up the stair, heading to Sky's room. "Yeah?" he replied, bounding up the stairs after me, barley inches away. "Can I borrow a shirt to sleep in? I don't want to wake my parents buy going over to my house and grabbing some pj's." I asked.

"Yeah Sure. Let me go grab you one." Caleb answered, walking over to his bedroom.

Soon he came out with his huge, burnt orange, Texas Longhorn Tee. "Thank you." I said, taking it out of his hands.

"No Problem. Goodnight Amanda." Caleb replied.

I felt my heart flutter, as he kissed me on the forehead, and walked into his bedroom, shutting the door behind him.

A/N~This sucks. It's so short. Fml. Nothing to say. Bye.
