Chapter 1

I was in fifth form when I met the love of my life. She was in fourth form.

I always wanted the perfect girl. One that was smart, intelligent, pretty, God-help-me-please sexy, very outspoken, has a very wonderful personality, humble, caring, loving, and ambitious.

Before I met her, I used to date girls that possess some of those qualities. Some had that sexy figure, but didn't have the pretty face to complement it. Some were very pretty but forgot to collect their intelligence when God was issuing it out.

I met really smart girls before. However, disregarding my inequalities, frankly speaking they were very ugly.

I used to date two or three girls at the same time. Together they had all the complimentary qualities, but it's just not the same as having one girl with all the perfect qualities. Yes she had flaws. Every girl has flaws, but the faults that she has, I have them too. So they didn't bother me at all. I loved her even more.

Chapter 2

It was the second of June. It was about seven forty five am, and I was late for class. I hurried through the entrance gate of the Marcus Garvey Technical High school.

They don't search me.

My bag was strapped diagonally on my left side. Neat and nerdy as usual, my tie was well tied, suffocating my neck, shirt was whiter than everybody else's, and my kaki colored pants was well pressed and matched perfectly with my brown Vikings.

My hair was well combed and my head boy badge was well straight on the right side of my chest across from my crest.

I was about three steps from the door way of my class room when my best friend, Alwayne Brown, shouted at me from the boys' bathroom door.

"Hey David!"

I turned around, wondering what he was doing outside when he should be in math class. He was holding a piece of paper in his hand. I wondered what it was.

I walked over to him, grabbed the paper from him, and read it.

The above students please see Miss. Stains at the library at 1.00 pm. We have been invited to attend the popular TV show "Susan" to discuss the life and heroism of our Rite. Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey. The above students are selected to represent the school on Thursday, and should meet today to discuss the proceedings. Thank you.

Yours truly,

Miss. Stains

We walked back to the class room.

"So are you going?" He asked.

"Do I have a choice?"

"That pretty girl will be there." He told me.

"Which pretty girl?"

"That one from fourth form. What's her name again?" He looked on the paper again. "Oh yeah, her name is Danielle."

"Oh, her, she is not that beautiful if you ask, but she does have a nice ass though."

"Yeah man, true that." We laughed, went into the class and sat down at the back.

Miss. Brenda Campbell, our math teacher was half way between her lessons of algebra. I wasn't paying much attention to her, besides I already knew everything that she was teaching. I often times read and study ahead of the other students, that's why they say I am brilliant, because I already learnt what they are learning.

I was too busy thinking about what Alwayne had said.

"That girl does have a nice ass. I have to admit it, she is beautiful too, but she is not a ten."

The bell rang for lunch. Everybody rushed out. The funny thing is, no one fully understood addition and subtraction of algebraic expressions, and she was in the middle of explaining the ambiguity they had.

We went to the cafeteria for lunch.

We sat in our usual corner. Our table was in the top left corner, we could see every one that walked into the cafeteria from here. Our table was reserved. No one is bold enough to sit here without our permission.

"Hey David check out the new girl coming in, she came in yesterday. She is fineeeee…Wow."

"Yes she is very pretty and sexy. I have not seen one so fine in a while." I replied.

"All the guys want her. She is perfect." He continued.

"So why don't you go for it?"

"I couldn't get that girl man, she wouldn't even look in my direction. Earlier today at the security check point, I stood there staring at her, smiling, hoping she would take one look at me and saw the magic in my eyes…."

"Well?" I asked.

"She never looked." He replied. You could see that he was still feeling like a dump.

I laughed and replied. "You need to step your game up, girls like confident men, and besides you're not bad looking."

"Man I don't know." He reassured.

He was kind of a smart guy, not as smart as I am though, he was better looking than I was, but I still got more girls than he did. I guess girls don't go for shy guys that are not so smart. He wasn't that outspoken either. It always amazes me how guys talk a lot around their friends, but never find the right words to say to girls they like. That's why I am different. I am full of confidence. I am not only confident, I am conceited. I got a huge ego, and I don't care. I always know what to say to girls, I just never stutter man. That's my dearest gift from God, the gift to say what girls want to hear, and to make them believe it's true. I lie most of the time though. I say I love you but I don't, I say you are my only girl. Truth is there might be a Marisa and a Shantel. I say I am going to marry you, don't fall for it, even if I go down on my knees and put a ring on your finger, don't fall for it.

"I bet I can get you that girl." I told him.

"How?" He asked.

"Do you want that girl man or not?"

"Yeah I want her."

"Ok, good."

"Hey Martin step to my table." I commanded one of the first form students. They do anything I tell them to. When they are still young and naïve, you can exploit them.

"Go and tell that new girl by the food stand that the head boy is kindly asking her to join him for lunch, if she would."

"What! Oh no! No, no, no. Don't call her over here. Hell no, I don't want to talk to her." Goose bumps were already covering his skin, you could see him shaking, and you could hear the nervousness in his voice.

"Come on man, don't chicken out on me. Stay right here."

"No, hell no." He got up and walked out the door.

Martin told her the message. She turned around and looked at me, our eyes made contact. I smiled, she smiled and told him ok.

She took up an apple, and walked over to my table.

I stood up as a gesture of manners, although I didn't want to, and greeted her.

"Hi, I am David Benson."

"I am Jessica." She replied. She had a wonderful voice to compliment her beauty, but the tone that she replied with, spoke about her cockiness.

I sat down.

"Sit down if you want." I told her.

She was cocky, but I was determined to show her that I am the cockiest person in this school and I have all the reasons to be.

She sat down. You could see that she was shocked by my obnoxious behavior, especially because I am the one that invited her to have lunch with me.

"So Jessica where are you from?"

"I am from the city."

"So why are you here?" I asked.

"My parents moved here, I didn't have a choice."

She took a big bite of the apple and chewed it like a horse. That definitely wasn't lady-like.

"So do you like it here so far?" I tried to break her annoyance.

"No. personally I think this school is a big dump. Everyone here is ugly, they are no cute boys, the food is garbage, and the teachers can't even teach."

"Oh really?" I was pist at her disgusting opinions of the school. However, I managed to keep my calm.

She continued. "You know something, I used to get straight Cs on my report card at my last school, and I don't think I'll even get Ds here."

I scratched the side of my head. I almost told her off, but then I looked up and I saw Alwayne at the door watching us.

"I called you over here to introduce you to a friend, don't think for a second that I like you. He got cold feet and left. Look behind you he is standing at the door. They don't get much cuter than him."

She turned around looked at him, and made a little blush. He suddenly turned around and walked out the room.

"He likes you, dying to say something to you, he just doesn't know how. He really likes you. Personally I don't see what he sees in you, but I tried to help him out anyway."

I stood up.

"He is a nice guy, but you don't deserve him." I asserted.

"Stand up and turn in a circle." I then commanded her.

She stood up and turned around, and then looked at me.

"He says you're beautiful, but I guess he is blind, because I just don't see it."

I took up my bag and walked away. That was a lie, she is beautiful.

She was shocked. She couldn't believe that someone thought she was ugly. She felt ashamed. She sat down and chewed the apple like a lady.

I walked out the cafeteria and head towards the library. "Man, can you believe that girl?" I thought.

I stepped into the library, and Alwayne just couldn't wait to hear her response.

"So Dervan, what did she say? She likes me or she likes me not?" H asked.

I shuck my head, I almost laughed. "She likes me or she likes me not." He is definitely the next Shakespeare I thought.

I looked at him right in the eyes. I know what he wanted to hear, and it would break his fragile little heart, if he heard otherwise.

"Ok man. Honestly, she does like you. She thinks you're cute, but she just rather you come and tell her yourself. That's all."

"Really man, does she really like me? She thinks I am cute?"

"Seriously dude, that girl is falling for, you should say something to her the next time you see her."

"Oh yes!" He shouted out. "Oh yeah she likes me, oh yeah! Oh yeah! Aww, look at me, I am the man." He rubbed his cheeks, and twisted his head as if he was doing a photo shoot. "She thinks I am cute…That girl is mine. Thanks man."

"Yeah no problem."

I watched him flattered himself, I wanted to tell him that it's all a lie just to burst his bobble, but I just let him enjoy the ecstasy of the moment.

We went to the back of the library. Everyone was already seated and waiting for us to commence the discussion.

I sat beside Eloise. Oshane was sitting to the right of Danielle, Alwayne sat to my left, the other girls; Nadisha White and Tia Nelson were sitting in the other row facing us. Miss. Stains sat at the center. We could still see each other clearly though.

"Ok, good after noon students."

"Good after noon Miss." They replied.

I didn't say anything. I usually don't demonstrate protocol, only when I have to.

"As you know, we are here to prepare you for the interview on Thursday. You will be interviewed about the national hero. So we are here to give you information about his bibliography and discuss his life experiences, so that you understand it, and reply eloquently on Thursday when Susan asks you questions about him. So here is some information that I have gathered. Read them, and then discuss them with each other, I will be back in ten minutes to see how much you have grasped the information, and to determine if you will be able to speak eloquently in front of the cameras on Thursday."

I overlooked the information. I already knew most of it. I have studied about the national hero two days before I started school. I thought it was necessary to know all about him, since I would be attending a school named after him.

"Hey Benson, what year was he born?" Alwayne questioned.

"Ask me something else. Something I don't know."

"Name three organizations that he formed?"

"Ok, I guess I know everything then…Sarah Jane Richards's wife of Marcus Mosiah Garvey conceived a child in 1887, at 32 Market Street, St.Ann's Bay. Garvey and his sister Indiana were the only two offspring of his parents to reach adult-hood. His siblings died as the years went by. As a youth Garvey educated himself, through his father inventory of books and as a resulted he began working as a printer's apprentice.…. Oh bother, I can go on and on… by the way he founded the UNIA in 1914.

They were all staring at me with that what-a-conceited-obnoxious-chauvinistic-pig look, but I didn't care. I know it's all about me. When I am in a room I am the most important one present, oh and did I mention I don't care.

I didn't remember seeing her go through the information. She stood and started talking. She had known him personally, she had been with him through all his voyages, and she was his attorney when he was incarcerated. She must have been. She started to give her well prepared university lecture about the late Marcus Garvey.

"Good after noon students. My name is Danielle Dickenson, for those of you who don't know me…"

"How modest?" I thought.

"Marcus Garvey isn't just a national hero, he is my personal and most favored hero. That is why I am proud to be a member of this school. I am most honored to represent in any capacity with confidence and due diligence the first national hero of Jamaica, and my personal role model. Students, it would be a deliberate lie to say that the most honorable Marcus Garvey is dead. His contributions to nation building, and his lifelong combat for equal rights for all races, along with his excellent philosophical quotations perpetuates from generations to generations and sky-scrapes into our society. Marcus Garvey lives forever."

How eloquent and detailed she was. I never met anyone her age spoke so enthusiastic, so fluent and accurate before. She was just so amazing in her presentation. I was utterly impressed. For the first time in my life I felt like someone has shifted the lime light from over my head to someone more important.

"She is incredible." I thought.

She got up. "Excuse me please, I have to go and get something."

She remembered protocol, something I deliberately always forget.

She turned and slowly walked to the door.

"Oh my god that ass."

I saw it, Alwayne saw it, and I am quite sure everyone else in the room saw it. She has the body of a goddess. When she walks her body moves to the beat of drums. Only she hears the beat as she knows whenever she walks out of a room, it takes a while before she actually leaves. Everyone, both male and female goes crazy about her shape. She is not stupid. She knows she has that kind of bad influence. Her beautiful face complimented with her intelligence and her specially created figure.

I am sorry, just let me take a minute to see how best I can articulate her shape and then I will get back to the story.

"Well everybody knows Beyonce Knowles right? Well it's common talk that she shapes way better than Beyonce, and I just have to agree with everybody else, no bias, trust me. She just have these perfectly curved hips; not too small, not too big, that just compliments her well firm, round but not too round, just exquisite, sexy butt and- and….I am sorry I can't do this, it just doesn't make sense to try and use words to describe her shape. You just have to be lucky enough to see her one day."

Back to the story.

She walked to the door and we all watched her until she stepped outside.

I shouldn't have said this, but it's true. I was hard, I was so hard in my khaki pants, if I had stand up at that very moment I would have been so embarrassed, but the good thing is, I wasn't the only one. Alwayne was hard too. It so happens that my pencil fell under the table, and I bent down under the table to take it up, and what greeted me wasn't exactly a pencil.

At first I almost threw up, but then I had to just laugh, and he laughed.

After about three minutes the teacher returned and then she followed in.

They started talking again. I wasn't listening. Actually I wasn't in the room. I was somewhere in a bed of roses pouring honey from her toes to her cherry lips.

"Oh David, ohhhhhh yeessssss." She moaned my name.

"Awwww, yeahhhhh. You are so sweet Danielle, and baby it's not the honey."

"Whoooooo, ahhh, I want more, give me more please David!" she moans.

"I want to feel you inside of me babeeee, I can't wait anymore." She commanded seductively.

"Me neither. Ohhh yes, yes…..

"David, do you have anything to say about that?" Miss Stains asked.

"Aww? Awww- no not really miss."

"That's a first, the brilliant David Benson doesn't have anything to say?"

"Well there is a first for everything." I reminded her.

"Oh man, what's wrong with me? I am losing my focus. This is first I ever got so close to this girl, and already I am having libidos of me and her already."

I then turned my head and looked at her. She quickly turned her focus to the teacher. You could tell that she was looking at me.

"Wonder if she likes me?" My heart palpitated.

I continued to stare at her. For the first time I have taken a really good look at her, and I have realized how beautiful she was. She had tall natural hair, very silky. She has a straight face, with a fair complexion that went with her well defined cherry lips. The color of her eyes was dark-brown, just like mine. It's amazing how beautiful she is and I haven't noticed before.

"I have to get to know her. If she is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, I want to marry her, and I mean it this time."

"Well it's now four thirty-five, that's it for the discussion. The bus leaves the campus at seven AM sharp on Thursday. Anyone who is not on the bus by six forty five will be left behind. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes Miss." Students reply.

"Since your last class for the day is almost over, you don't have to go. You wait until the bell rings then you can go home. Good bye."

We all walked out of the library.

She went to the girls' room along with Nadisha and Eloise. I didn't see where Natasha went. The other boys went off somewhere.

We went to the parking area and waited for the final bell to ring. Alwayne wanted to see Jessica for the last time for the day, and I wanted to say something to Danielle. God knows I don't know what I am going to say to her, but I'll say something. It always comes out naturally and smooth.

Then I saw Jessica coming. She was definitely the opposite of who I wanted to see. Danielle is way more beautiful than her and smarter too, and she doesn't seem as cocky as Jessica, who took the pride to tell me that she used to get straight Cs at her former school.

She got closer. Suddenly the air got still, not for me though. He placed his hand on my shoulder, I thought it was a leaf, but he was really pissing in his pants.

I was totally embarrassed for him. Poor guy, don't even know that he doesn't exists in her world.

She walked up to me.

"Hi." She said timidly.

I definitely made sure to lower her self esteem earlier, and reminded her that she is a nobody here.

"Hi." I replied bluntly, with all the arrogance that can go with it.

"Can I have a minute in private please?" she requested, and took a few steps back.

I wasn't in the mood to argue, so I just went.

"What do you want?" I asked trying not to sound too arrogant.

"Well, I just want to say I am sorry about this morning, I didn't mean to be such a bitch. I wasn't feeling too well."

"Apology accepted. Now, good bye." I said.

I wanted to disregard the conversation. I really didn't want Danielle to see me and her talking.

I turned around and as I was about to walk away she shouted.

"Aw Wait!"

I turned around.

"I think I…This is my number, you can give me a call if you want to."

She placed a torn piece of paper in my shirt pocket and walked away.

"Well, what did she say? Did she ask about me man?"

I looked at him with that your-so-stupid-what-an-asshole gesture.

"She told me to tell you that she is willing to go out with you sometime, but she just isn't sure about her being the one to ask. She really likes you man, you should go for it." I asserted.

He smiled. Poor guy, she didn't even realized that he was standing next to me.

"I'll ask her tomorrow, first thing in the morning, at the gate when her mom drops her off."

"No man, no! You have to wait until about lunch time. Approaching her that early will make you look like a stalker, or like a horny dog. Lunch time is best, ok man."

"Yeah."

I then saw her coming, she was about to leave the campus.

She got closer. Surprisingly my heart started to beat faster.

"Hi!" I shouted out at her. "Excuse me, may I please have a minute of your time?"

She stopped. I walked over.

She looked into my eyes, as I looked into hers.

"Yes?" She asked.

"Well, aww-aww. I ju-ju-just…"

What is wrong with me, I don't stutter.

"Let me try that again," I tried not to look embarrassed. "I think your beau-beau-buuu….never mine, I am sorry for wasting your time."

She walked off, didn't even say anything.

She smiled, and looked back at me and laughed.

"How embarrassing" I thought.

She knew exactly what I wanted to say, and she just…God damn! I messed up. I am like a big load of mess. A big load of dog mess, that's what I am.

I flung the book on the ground. I was mad as hell.

I turned around and he was there laughing his face off.

"Hey, don't laugh, because you're no better. You couldn't even find the courage to step to her, standing there shaking like a leaf." I mocked him. "Oh there she is men, she is coming over men, do somin, d-d-do somin."

He stopped instantly.

"You big worthless piece of shiii…"

I walked off and he followed. No matter what I say or what I did, he always remained my best friend. That's what I respect most about him, his loyalty.

"Hey, I'll see you tomorrow man."

"Yeah man."

"And Alwayne…. make sure to get some sleep tonight ok."

We laughed. I know him too well. That girl will be on his mind all night, he probably won't eat.

I went onto my bus, and he walked to the bus park to get his ride home. I live in Runaway Bay, he lives in Seville Heights.
