We left the mansion without Mina. King Leonas said he would keep her safe and hidden in his bed chamber until he finds out exactly who was involved. I had no doubt that he could dig into Mina's memories to find out exactly who. And I assumed that once he finds out who they were, he would leave her with me while he goes out for the great hunt.

As soon as the car left the drive way of the mansion, I snuggled against Marcus who held me tight. I sighed feeling relieved.
'It's over.' he thought. He let out a sigh in relief as well.
I smiled and wrapped my arms around him. I felt his lips pressing against my forehead and I closed my eyes.

When we arrived home, I went straight to the kitchen to get a drink of water. Marcus stood only a few feet away from me, watching me pour my second glass of water.
"What?" I asked when he loomed over me.
His blue eyes studied my face, "You are not thirsty for water, love."
Oh. I realized that I still had that human side of me. I put down the glass and looked up at him. It's been about three days since I fed from him and I guess I was hungry again.

He lifted me up and sat me on the kitchen counter so I could have better access to his neck. I smiled at his thoughtfulness. Even with me sitting on the counter, my head reached his neck. He leaned lower to expose his neck for me and I wrapped my arms around him.
"I'm so glad that I can only tolerate your blood." I whispered, licking his neck. He immediately shuddered at my touch and he quickly pulled me closer against him.
"Damn right." he hissed and my fangs pierced into his flesh.

Both of us groaned as I fed from him. When I was done, I licked his wound clean and watched it close and heal completely within a second. Then he gathered me into his arms and carried me to our bedroom where we made love with smiles on our faces.

About a week passed and the ceremony never took place. There were rumors circulating that the king no longer found me interesting and he had found another toy that he had locked up in his bedroom. But no one knew who she was. As far as others knew, she was just nameless and faceless individual that everyone wanted to gossip about.

But Joseph, Jane, Marcus, and I knew. And we told no one, in fear of someone even in our council might be involved in this. A few hours earlier, we got a word from the king that he was dropping by. And we knew what that meant. He had found out who was behind this imprisonment of his beloved for thousands of years.

When his car pulled up in our driveway, he helped her get out of the car. She didn't hide her face and she was leaning against king Leonas, who held her like a crystal. His eyes never left her as he gently helped her into the house and we all bowed at the king.
"Welcome, my lord." I said.
He nodded, "Good to see you again."

We escorted him to our living room and he sat down with his beloved next to him. She seemed to be in better condition now. Her cheeks were no longer hallow and she had some color in her face. She no longer had that empty gaze and now she was staring at King Leonas. He looked at her with a warm gentle smile and dropped a kiss on her cheek.
"Leo . . . I don't want you to go." she whispered. Even her voice was beautiful and utterly fragile. I wanted to drop on my knees and protect her with my life. And I knew others felt the same.
He caressed her beautiful wavy hair, "Love, I won't be long. I promise. The people here will protect you while I'm away."
Mina finally looked away from the king and looked at us. I smiled warmly and she tried to smile back.
"I remember you . . ." She said looking at me and Jane.
I nodded, "Yes, we met before."
Her green eyes studied me, "You are the one who rescued me."
"Yes."
Her beautiful smile blinded me.
"Thank you." She whispered.

The king left, leaving us in charge of protecting his beloved. Not that I could protect her if god forbid someone decides to attack, but he also knew Marcus and Jane were the most skilled warriors next to Joseph. Our mansion was in pretty much in a lock down. No one left and no one entered our property. Marcus and Joseph worked on the security while Jane and I stayed with Mina. It seemed Mina could only tolerated Jane and me the most. She would drift to that dark place now and then but she no longer screamed nor cried out in fear. And to my relief, she drank a few cups of donated blood since she arrived.

A few days passed and the king did not return. But we did hear what was happening in outside world. It was a blood bath in the vampire world at the moment. Joseph had informed me that the king had wiped out more than half of his royal court without warning. And he had also destroyed the closest associates of those royal courts as well. They were all scattered all over the world, but it didn't seem like that slowed him down. As the days went by, I heard the death toll increase to fifty. I was pretty sure those who were in the low ranks had no idea what they had gotten themselves into, but that didn't matter to the king. He planned to eliminate anyone who was involved in any way. whether it was direct or indirect. And others were in complete panic and fear wondering if they are going to be next, knowing no matter where they go, he would find them if he wanted to.

On day four, the girls and I were in the study. The fire place was lit and I was reading a book while Jane stood guard by the window. Mina had curled up front of the fire place to keep herself warm. It seemed she gets cold easily even though she was a vampire. She had a blanket wrapped around herself as she slept on the floor, a few feet away from the fire. Now and then she would whimper in her sleep and I would sit by her and hold her hand. I tried not to invade her dreams to see what she was dreaming about.

A few hours later, I heard a faint car engine and immediately, Mina's eyes opened. She sat up and as if she could sense him, she got up and headed for the door.
"Wait!" I ran after her and so did Jane. Mina was getting healthier as the days went by and her movements were almost fast as regular vampires. Which meant, soon, she will outrun me.

When I reached the front door, I saw her already in king Leonas' arms. He was holding her tight with his eyes closed, savoring her scent.

I saw Marcus and Joseph entering the hall and I smiled at Marcus. Watching the king and Mina reminded me of Marcus and I. I looked up at Marcus when he came to me to hold my hand. I smiled brightly at him again, feeling absolutely positive about our future together.

-----

Years later. . .

I walked through the king's garden with Marcus. It was a beautiful summer day but I didn't feel hot nor cold by the weather. Marcus held my hand as we walked, lacing our fingers together. My wedding ring sparkled by the reflection of the sun and I squinted my eyes in reaction.

Ahead of us, we found Mina and Jane at the stone bench. Mina looked like a fairy tale princess as she held basket of flowers that she picked out from the garden. Jane stood next to her as a bodyguard. It's been handful of years since the king requested Jane to be the queen's personal bodyguard since Mina couldn't tolerate many people. The only people she could be near was Jane, Joseph, Marcus, and I. And we weren't allowed to call her 'your majesty' nor 'my queen'.
"Sophia!" Mina spotted me and smiled.
I smiled back and welcomed her small delicate frame into my embrace.
"Mina, how have you been?" I asked.
She smiled brightly as if she never had that darkness in her. It took years for the king to heal her. It took a long time, but I could see she was finally healing properly. And it was all thanks to the king's dedication and his love toward her.
"I'm good. How about you? It's been a while since I saw you." She said as she pulled me to the bench.
"It's been only a few months." I reminded her.
She pouted, "Yes, but I was so bored. If it wasn't for Jane, I would have gone to visit you."
I laughed, "Yes, and the king would have loved that." He was still overprotective and possessive and I don't think he will ever change. Just like my Marcus, who stood next to me.

After the elimination of traitors, there were many changes. The high court no longer existed and I was one of the few who were elected as the royal court, thus giving me more power and access to the king. Those who saw me as mere hybrid of a vampire and human, no longer thought of me as a pest. They feared me somewhat because they were afraid that the king would destroy them all if his new royal court was hurt in any way. Now everyone knew of our mind reading ability. They knew that no matter how much they try to hide, we will always be able to read their deepest secrets.

"Sorry I didn't visit sooner. Marcus didn't want me to venture out too soon." I said.
Mina questioned me with a puzzled look.
A warm smile filled Marcus' face when I looked up at him. It was a miracle because this wasn't suppose to happen to us. Marcus was a made vampire and I was not yet hundred years old to be considered as mature enough. But then again, nothing was really normal for us because I was the very first hybrid and no one knew exactly what I was capable of. It took me a while to realize what was happening but once we found out, Marcus hid me in our mansion, following me literally everywhere I went. He didn't let me out of the mansion for two months in fear that i might trip over and fall. And it took me a long time to convince him that I was going to be fine.
"I'm pregnant." I said with a giggle.
Mina and Jane's shout of joy rang throughout the garden. They gave me a hug to congratulate me. Then they hugged Marcus. For a while, all of us where talking and laughing together.

When all of us calmed down, I pulled Marcus to seat next to me. He wrapped his arms around my slightly swollen tummy in protectiveness. We thought it was weird when I started to crave more of Marcus' blood and ate more. When we finally found out that I was pregnant, I could never forget his reaction. He shouted with pure joy and happiness. Then every night since then, he would spend hours caressing my stomach and making sure I was comfortable.

I looked into his beautiful piercing blue eyes that always made my heart pound. He was more possessive and overprotective of me now that I was preganant, but I didn't care. I was carrying our miracle baby.
"I love you." he said kissing my temple.
"I love you, too." I said with my heart filled with joy and love.

--- The End----

Thank you so much for reading this story. Ihad an awesome time writing 'HIdden: The Awakening'. I thought ending the story with her being pregnant would be the best. After all, Marcus wasn't suppose to father a child and she was too young for vampire's age. It's a miracle~

:) I have many more stories coming up. So stay tuned!

Love,

Jen
