Chapter Twenty Three
“You two are going to be late if you don’t hurry up and stop humping in there.” Nic called knocking on the closed bedroom door. I opened the door biting my already sore lip.
“I don’t know what you’re gettin’ at.” I smiled at her as I listened to Tucker hustle to get dressed and grab his bag. Nic rolled her eyes nodding to my inside out sweatshirt. I giggled walking out the door as Tucker followed.
“She is going to kill me some day Nic.” He said shaking his head.
“Yeah. He’ll be sexual exhausted.” She laughed nudging me. I nodded smiling as I walked down the stair pulling my sweatshirt off and turning it inside out before putting it back on.
“She’s a little minx in the bed room.” Tucker smiled kissing my neck.
“You know you love me.” He bit the skin on my neck gently.
“I do love you.” He sighed happily. “Come on we better get going.” I nodded holding onto my bag as I said bye to the guys and hugged them. “We’ll be back soon.” Tucker said hugging his friends.
“Sure Dude. Have fun.” Blake chuckled. Be slapped his bad.
“No Mile High Club alright?” Tucker rolled his eyes as Ben hugged me. “None of this for my new little sister.” I slammed him.
“What makes me your new little sister Benjamin?” He held me tight for a moment before walking over to Nic kissing her.
“Well since I’m dating Nicole here, and you’re as good as sisters. This means you’re as good as my sister. I always wanted a sister you know.” He smiled at me. “So this means I get to be the over protective one.” Nic shook her head smiling.
“You’re crazy Ben.” He shrugged as I hugged him again. “But thank you.”
“No problem.” He smiled as Tucker looked at his watch.
“Come one Car we’re going to be late.” I nodded walking over to him.
“I’ll come with you Nic then we can go out to eat.” Ben kissed her neck. “Then we could have the whole-”
“Dude that’s my sister.” Tucker groaned as I pulled him to the SUV.
“Don’t I know that.” He smiled as we all got in. I laughed at Tucker’s face as he shuddered thinking of his sister.
“You do half the things I do with Carson I swear I’m going to Ki-”
“Tucker!” We all said at the same time. He shrugged taking my hand in his.
“Alright, alright I’ll save it for the bedroom.” He smirked. “If we can wait that long.” He wiggled his eyebrow at me. I giggled at him before grabbing my bag as Nic pulled up to the Airport.
“Come on or we are going to be late.” I took Tucker’s hand in mine as I waved bye to Nic and Ben. Tucker took my bag as we got our tickets from the ticket booth quickly as we made our way to airport security. I laughed at Tucker after he got searched during it as the Security winked at me. I picked up my bag and slipped back on my shoes and running to find the gate waving bye to the Guard as Tucker ran after me.
“Last call for flight 276 to Dallas. Last call.” A flight attendant nodded her head. “Let’s go.” Another flight attendant saw us and smiled.
“Wait I see two more.” She said pulling out the ticket scanner as I handed her my ticket. The first flight attendant nodded walking into the hall to the plane.
“Thank you.” I smiled taking a deep breath at her as Tucker stopped behind me handing her his ticket.
“No problem. You two are really lucky though. We almost left. But if I saw you I would have waited.” She winked at me. “Come on in so we can go.” I nodded.
“Thank you so much. I don’t know what I would do if I missed this. I’m going to see my Step-Mom give birth to my baby brother.” She turned to smile.
“Oh congratulations.” She smiled showing us to our seat in the back, an empty row. “Here you two go. We should be taking off soon.” She smiled as Tucker put both our bags away. I sat by the window as Tucker sat down next to me buckling my seatbelt in. He smiled pulling my broken wrist into his lap.
“How do you feel about seeing Sarah again?” He asked as I curled up with him as the plane got ready to take off.
“I could never thank your dad enough for this.” Tucker kissed my head as I closed my eyes as the plane took off making my ears pop. I bit my sore lip hard. Tucker stroked my hair kissing my head. He ran his thumb over my cut lip.
“I love you Carson. Nic loves you. My parents see that. That’s what matters.” He looked at my scabbed lip. “Stop biting it baby it’s not going to heal that way.” I sighed unbuckling my seatbelt and leaning on the window of the plane putting my legs over Tucker’s lap.
“I love you Tucker. Never forget that.” He looked at me cocking his head to the side.
“I know Carson. I know.” I closed my eyes as I listened to the songs going on around me. The chatter of the other people talking to their neighbor about nothingness. The sound of the business men typing on their laptops to pass the time before their business meeting. The snores of the people flying to an unknown place oh so far away. I slipped into unconsciousness as Tucker gently stroked my knees as he listened to his iPhone…..
“Car it’s time to wait up baby cakes.” I opened my eyes as Tucker rubbed my cheek. “We’re here.” I looked around as the plane touched down in Dallas.
“What time is it?” I yawned rubbing my eyes.
“It’s about 7:30 sweetheart.” The Flight attendant said as she passed by. Tucker grabbed our bags as I unbuckled the seatbelt Tucker must have put on me.
“You took my sunglasses.” I smiled stretching walking out into the aisle. He handed them to me I put them on top of my head.
“They fell out your head when you were sleeping.” He put his arm over my shoulder as we walked to the front. I pulled out my phone and dialed.
“Hello?” A voice said into the phone.
“Hello Mr. Green.” I said as we sat down on a bench as people hustled and bustled around us.
“Carson what did I tell you to call me?” He laughed happily.
“Sorry…Grandpa.” I smiled. “Where are you?” Tucker started to text his father.
“Uh…I’m getting your Sarah some food. She hates hospital food. Why?” He asked as I heard him stop his car on the other end of the phone.
“I need a ride.” I said biting my lip.
“From Nevada? Sweetheart I just got to meet my grandson, give an old man some time.” He laughed.
“No not from Nevada. From Dallas.” Tucker squeezed my leg pointing to my lip.
“No biting.” He whispered. I stuck my tongue out at him.
“You’re in Dallas Carson?” He asked surprised. “She will be so happy. Let me call her.”
“No I want to surprise her. I’m at the airport.”
“Brilliant! I’ll be there in 10 minutes to pick you up. I’m sure you can explain how you got here to Sarah.” I could hear the smile in his voice.
“Thanks Grandpa.” I couldn’t help but smile at that.
“Thank you Carson.” He smiled. “Bye.”
“Bye.” I hung up my phone. Tucker stood up.
“Come on let’s take a walk outside.” I nodded getting up taking his hand as we walked to the exit of the airport. I smiled as the night heat hit me. “How do you like this?” Tucker groaned.
“I just do.” I smiled happily. “It reminds me of home.” Tucker looked at me. “Oh the home that was taken from me.” I sighed.
“You have a new home now.” He said quietly. I looked at him. “Right here.” He put his hand over his heart. “And Here.” He tapped his head. My jaw wobbled as I stared at me.
“I know. I know that now.” I kissed him as he pulled me to him. “I love you Tucker. So much.”
“I love you too Car. More than you’ll ever know.” He whispered putting his hand to my cheek.
“Excuse me children. You wouldn’t have called me would you have?” I looked into the car and smiled at the familiar face.
“Thank you for coming Grandpa.” I smiled at him opening the door.
“No problem Sweetheart.” He smiled his southern accent thick. “Now introduce me to your friend here.” He said eyeing up Tucker as we got into the truck.
“Grandpa, this is Tucker. My boyfriend.” Grandpa raised his eyebrow at me.
“Really?” He asked as he pulled away to go to the hospital. “Well me and Tucker will be having a little talk then wouldn’t we?”
“I wouldn’t think any different Sir.” Grandpa smiled a little bit at that.
“So Carson how’d you get tickets? Me and Lilly were going to buy you one so you could come see JJ but you beat us to it.” He laughed.
“I didn’t even expect it. Tucker’s parents bought us the tickets.” I smiled at Tucker. “I’ll find a way to pay them back somehow.” Tucker shook his head.
“You don’t have to. Never. It’s a gift.” I sighed looking at him. “Don’t give me that look.”
“What look?” I asked as Grandpa pulled up to the hospital and into the parking lot.
“The ‘you’re going to shut up now cause I’m not listening’ look.” Grandpa laughed as we got out of the car.
“Son I’ll let you in on a little hint. They ain’t gonna listen to ya.” He laughed as we walked inside. “Room 5 on the third floor Sweetheart.” He said as I walked to the elevator pressing the button. “Why don’t you and I take a walk?” I looked at Tucker.
“Okay Sir.” He looked at me as the elevator pinged opening. “I’ll meet you up there Baby.” He said as Grandpa nodded at me.
“Alright.” I nodded getting in the elevator hitting the button 3. I waited for it to open taking a deep breath before walking to room 5. Sarah was sitting on the bed holding a blue bundle. I knocked on the door gently making her look up. She gasped.
“Carson! You’re here!” She smiled brightly at me. I nodded walking over to her slowly. I sat down slowly staring at the little bundle in her arms. “You want to hold him.” She smiled at me. I nodded shortly as she laid the little baby in my arms. “JJ say hi to your big sister.” I looked down at two beautiful blue eyes as they stared up at me. I heard the click of Sarah’s camera making me blink.
“Hi JJ.” I said quietly looking at him as he sucked away on his pacifier. “He looks like Dad.” She nodded. “But he has your hair.” I pressed my lips to his forehead.
“He’s amazing.” She smiled. “Just like his big sister.” He hugged me as I held JJ tightly. “Congratulations Lightening.” I looked down at JJ again before lifting him to kiss his head.
“I’ll protect you with my life.” I whispered onto his baby skin. “Forever.”
“Carson what happened to your head?” She asked seeing the bandage on my head. I sighed.
“Long story…” I sighed. She patted the spot next to her.
“I got the time.” I nodded moving to sit next to her still holding JJ
“Well it all started with my mother……” I said turning my head to look at her…..
“You know now you have to protect her right?” Grandpa said looking at Tucker. He nodded.
“I know. I would do anything for her.” He stopped at a window to a store looking into it. “It’s perfect.” Grandpa looked at him.
“What’s perfect?” Tucker pointed at the necklace.
“Perfect. Come on.” He said walking into the store over to a sale assistant. “Excuse me Sir?” The assistant looked at him.
“Yes Sir, how can I help you?” Tucker looked at the window.
“Can I have the necklace of the pail and shove?” The assistant nodded going to get it. Grandpa stared at him as Tucker pulled out his wallet. The assistant showed it to him making him smile. “Perfect! I’ll take it.” He smiled handing him his credit card.
“I’ll go ring you up.” He smiled walking away as Grandpa stared at him.
“She’ll love it.” He beamed at him.
