Sarah pulled up to the school as everyone buzzed around. I looked out the window frowning before looking back at her. "Well here we are." She said putting the car into park.
"Yeah…school." I swallowed nervously. Sarah looked at me.
"It's going to be alright sweetheart. Nic is meeting you at the office so you both can pick up your schedules together. You both should have a lot of classes together. Mrs. Brown and I both made sure of it." I looked at her quickly before looking back at the school. "Where's Tucker? I thought he was going to meet you here?"
"The school got a new coach and he called all the old football team together before school to meet." I sighed. Sarah cursed under her breath. I looked at her weird. "You alright?" She looked at me and smiled.
"Of course. I'm fine. You should get going before you're late." She smiled at me pulling out some money. "This is for lunch." She handed me the money pulling my head towards her to kiss it. "Good luck Lightning." I turned in my seat to blow a kiss at JJ.
"See you later buddy." I looked at Sarah. "Do I have to go?" She nodded. "Alright. Bye."
"Call me after school!" She said as I got out of the car grabbing my backpack.
"I will." I walked towards the school nervously. It looked huge. Not saying the Academy wasn't huge either, it was gigantic. I just already knew my way around. Here, I don't. I watched as everyone laughed with their friends, hugged the ones they haven't seen. 'Oh 'em gee!!! I haven't seen you ALL summer! How have you been!?' went around the air as all the girls screamed it at their friends. I walked past this group of guys as they gave me cat calls. I looked at them uncomfortable before walking to the front door and walked in. The halls were crowded and packed with kids as they moved into their lockers. I clutched my backpack strap as I looked around for the office…or even someone I knew. I sighed. No one. I looked around before sighing and tapping a guy's shoulder. "Excuse me?" He turned around to look at me. He looked me up and down before smirking at me.
"How can I help you sweetheart?" He smirked looking down at me.
"Can you point me in the direction of the office please?" I asked looking around the people. He licked his lip.
"Baby I can point you out places. Who needs an office?" He put his hand on my shoulder. I flinched away from him.
"Please just tell me where the office is." I shook my head swallowing nervously.
"Come here Baby." He tried to pull me to him. I shook my head taking a couple steps back.
"I'll find my own way." I said turning around walking away from him.
"Come on Baby, I'll help you find a nice closed place for me and you." He smirked at me. "What's your name sugar?" He grinned. I tried to walk away but he grabbed my good wrist and pulled me to him. "I'm Brock."
"I'm not your business. Now let me go." I struggled before a hand took my arm and pulled me out of his arms.
"Baby I have been looking for you everywhere!" I looked up at the guy I had no idea of stood looking at me. I felt my eyes widen in confusion.
"You have?" Brock grumbled at him. He nodded.
"Yeah I was supposed to wait for you by the back but I was late! You should have waited baby." He put his hands on his hips. I looked at him confused for a second. He gave me a wink when Brock turned away to look at me.
"Oh yeah! I'm sorry babe! I was getting antsy!" I said in a teasing tone. "You should have been on time!"
"You should have let me pick you up!" He said back to me. I think I could like this kid after this.
"Well I didn't want you too!" I said back stubbornly. Brock looked at the two of us as he stood staring at each other.
"Well we better get going." The guy said pulling me closer to him and putting his arm around my shoulders. He pulled me away from Brock, much to his discomfort, and into a crowd of people.
"Thank you." He smiled at me. "I owe you one."
"No problem. I thought you could use a little help." He laughed. "I might hold you to that one though." He winked. "Names Ethan Jackson Moore. But everyone calls me EJ." I put my hand out to shake his.
"Names Carson Collins. My parents call me Lightening McQueen. But Carson is good." He smiled pulling up through the crowd.
"Lovely to meet you Carson." I looked around as I spotted Nicole. I waved at her as she eyed up EJ. "I'm sure we will meet again Carson, so here we part ways." I looked at him before laughing.
"Thanks for everything. See you soon?" He nodded smiling as I walked to Nic. She smiled.
"You took forever so I got your schedule and a map, just in case you needed it." I took them from her holding my backpack close to me. "We have homeroom together and our lockers are next to each other. We should get ready." I nodded as we walked to the lockers. I watched as she opened her locker and shoved her things into it. I looked at mine biting my lip as she laughed at me.
"I never had a locker." I mumbled sadly. Nic looked at my paper before opening my locker for me. I shoved the things I won't need in before closed it. I looked at my schedule.

I looked up at Nic as she shrugged. "We have most classes together. I mean every class." She smiled.
"Have you seen your brother?" I asked as we walked to homeroom, well she walked I followed.
"I haven't seen him since we got here. He drove me in the Jeep." I nodded sadly as we walked to the back and sat down. I put my backpack down next to be putting my hand on my necklace sighing. Nic patted my back. "Don't worry about it Car, all the guys had to go to that emergency football meeting. I didn't get to see Ben either." I nodded.
"Long time no see." I looked up as EJ came and turned the seat around to sit in front of our table. "Told you we would meet again my friend." He winked at me. Nic raised her eyebrows.
"Nic this is Ethan Jackson. EJ my best friend Nicole." EJ smiled at her leaning his folded arms on the table.
"Nice to meet you Nicole." She nodded back. "So I found out what you owe me from saving your butt before." Nic looked at me raising her eyebrows so they almost touched her hairline. EJ looked at her. "Brock McCarter." He said simply. Her face scrunched up.
"I hate that kid." He nodded at her.
"What was the favor?" I asked him as the room started to fill up.
"The deal is..." He looked around leaning in. "Stay from him. He's no good. He'll just drag you down." I nodded.
"I don't like him at all. I was going to. So you can still have that favor." He smiled at me.
"You be my friend." He looked at Nic. "Both of you." I nodded.
"You remind me of one of my other best friends." I smiled looking at Nic. "Mason?" She started to laugh.
"Oh defiantly!" EJ looked between the two of us.
"So we friends…I don't have any." He said quietly. I looked at Nic.
"Of course we are!" She said putting her hand on his arm in comfort. He smiled at her. The bell rang making me jump. "Come on Car off to class!" She smiled. EJ smirked at us.
"See you at lunch?" I nodded.
"Lunch." Nic pulled me to my first class, AP Bio. In Bio we did the basic. We got to know the teacher. We had a little quiz to see how much we knew and our teacher was nice enough to let us talk quietly when we were done. Next we had Advanced History of War. I've never heard of this class before, and Nic said it must be new. I walked into the room and stopped as I looked at the teacher. My jaw dropped as the teacher looked over smiling.
"Good Morning Girls. Do take a seat." Uncle Caleb smiled going back to looking at books. I sat down in one of the desks as me and Nic stared at him in disbelief. He walked over squatting down to smile at us. "Surprised?" We both nodded.
"I thought you were still working at school?" Nic said quietly as someone walked into the room.
"I was but…" He shrugged looking at me. "Sarah said it was time to be a family and I was done with being a Drill Instructor. So I got a job coaching here." I blinked at him in surprise again. The tardy bell rang.
"I heard they got a new coach." Nic said shaking my arm. I looked at the door as Tucker and Ben walked into the room.
"You are late Brown, Roberts." Uncle Caleb said standing up. Nic slip over a desk as Tucker smiled at me picking next to me as Ben apologized to Uncle Caleb.
"Hey." He smiled pushing his desk a little closer to mine.
"Hey." I smiled at him as he took my hand.
"Carson can I see you in the hall quickly?" I nodded standing up walking out of the room behind Uncle Caleb. He closed the door looking at me. "Y'all alright sweetheart?" His southern drawl slipping into his words. I nodded. "You don't seem it." He said looking down at me.
"I'm just surprised." I sighed. He opened his arms hugging me.
"I missed you. Carrie wanted to be closer to y'all here. And the boys wanted to go to public school. So here I am. I want to know my Nephew too." He kissed my head. "And I get to whop that boy-friend of yours into shape when some good old fashion foosball." He winked as I pulled back. "Now come on. I got a class to teach." We walked back into class Uncle Caleb clearing his throat making the class silent. "Sit down Miss Collins." I nodded sitting back down in my seat, Tucker taking my hand in his.
"Welcome to Advance History of War." Uncle Caleb wrote his name on the word. "You will all call me Mr. James. No James. No Sir J. No Mr. Jameson. Just Mr. James. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes Sir." We answered. He smiled.
"Good." He sat down on his desk. "This class isn't a normal History class. Here we learn all about war. Not just American wars. Just wars in general. History tens to repeat itself. I'm not saying it will but you need to know this. I want you all to know what our history is. And what made this world." We all sat silently listening to him in amazement. "We are going to skip around with the wars. My favorites going first. But the wars you all want to learn about tell me. I'm here to help you learn. You need to help me, help you." He picked up a stack of books. "We are going to start with World War II. This isn't a textbook, but you are to treat it like it is." He put a book on all of our desks. "Hitler's Armies: A history of the German War Machine 1939-45. Please open to the first page so we can start." Uncle Caleb said sitting back on the desk opening his book.
