"Mari, Marek hurry up now. You two need to get going."
They rushed down the stairs past me and out the door kissing my cheek as they went. I smiled to myself. Life had been wonderful this past year and I couldn't be happier with my three beautiful children and my husband. My sister in law and her husband were the greatest. Brook and Kade were wonderful and helped us out so much. Ava and Alex pretty much live at the ranch house with their girls with as often as they are over. The blissful calm has been such a blessing.
I heard a gurgle and looked behind me at my seven month old daughter and smiled. "Hi sweet baby, my sweet Talia. You are so adorable, messy and adorable."
I felt arms wrap around my waist and I giggled. "Hi honey. Aren't you working today?"
I felt him shake his head against my shoulder. "Nope. You, me and Talia today my love."
The rush of excitement that rushed through me could only be described as euphoric. He grabbed up Talia and I and headed for his truck. I knew where he wanted to go and I loved the idea.
We rushed outside past everyone and smiled as we went. Brook and Kade laughed as he carried Talia like a hot potato all the way to the truck making her squeal with laughter and blow raspberries at him. It wasn't a long trip to the indoor play gym they made in town and Talia loved it so much.
I held Kieve's hand as he drove and finally sighed. "Kieve. The kids will be turning 18 here soon and leaving us. Marek wants to join the Military and Mari wants to go work on her photography in Paris. We need to think about what we are going to get them for their birthday."
He looked at me for a second before he focused back on the road. "What do you think we should get them. Mari still has a few years of college and she already said she wants to go to the State University here."
I nodded my head. "The more and more I think about it, the more I think they are going to need transportation to and from where ever they need to go. How about we go get them a new vehicle. Goddess knows my poor car is dying with all of the mud, lake water and everything it has been put through in the past year. I need something I can haul and tow with so I can help you."
He smiled at me and then started his belly laugh that I was so fond of. "Is this your way of telling me we need to go car shopping love?"
I laughed and shook my head. "No need, I know exactly what I want. I can hit a button and order it through the dealership. We do need to find them each a vehicle though. What do you say?"
He nodded. "I agree, having the farm truck gone this much isn't really helping us so maybe we should go shopping and give them their gifts early."
I smiled. "I think after we take sweet Talia here to the Play Gym, that is exactly what we will do."
He nodded as we pulled into the play gym and unstrapped Talia. Her glorious green eyes looked at the building then she started to squirm with joy. I giggled as Kieve tried to keep a hold of her.
We walked in to see Ava with her youngest little family member already playing around and jumping like crazy. Ava saw us and smiled rushing over to take Talia from Kie and show her little boy that his girlfriend had arrived. She quickly came back over and hugged me.
"Oh my goodness, you were able to come. I am so happy. I didn't think that you would be able to leave the shop with inventory today."
I shook my head at her. "I made sure that everyone there was competent enough to know the full extent of their job so that it pretty much just ran itself. I can't believe we really got the expansion done. A full 350 acres of farm, herd and shop land all finished in under a year and turning profit. We did a great job. Put in a lot of hours to get it going but nothing runs easily without help."
Kieve nodded. "It wasn't easy with Talia coming to us as well, it put us a bit behind, but my dear you are the queen of multi tasking and I have to hand it to you both. You two took my dream, your dreams and melded them so well that we have one hell of large, well oiled machine out there. We can take a few days off every now and then and it doesn't hurt the bottom line."
Ava nodded. "I figured we wanted productivity not something that would run us into the ground. We have families to think of and honestly we aren't getting any younger."
I nodded. "Speaking of younger, we were just talking about the twins' birthday. Do you have any input?"
Ava let out an evil laugh. "Oh don't get me started." She thought for a moment. "Actually, do. I have a wonderful idea for their party."
I laughed. "We are going to get them vehicles of their own. I want to get them something that matches their personalities along with something that can kick a bit of ass. Just like them."
Ava looked at me with her eyebrow raised. "I am going to call Alex. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
