I ran out of the hospital and sped back to the house. I ran in like a mad woman to see my family look at me oddly. I smiled and hugged Kie tightly before turning to my son.
"I got it, I figured it out. Brook helped me of course, she pointed me in the right direction. We need to get Mari admitted into the hospital right away and I need to grab a few things for the antidote. Call Ava and have her pack a bag for Mari and then we need to get going, the longer we wait the more chance there will be of permanent nerve damage."
It was those last few words that got them moving and I ran out of the house and over to my workshop. I rummaged through everything until I found a bottle of each of the three I was looking for. I rushed into the house to see Ava with Mari's bag, Marek carrying Mari and Kie with the keys to the truck. Alex had a stack of blankets and I nodded for us all to move out.
We headed to Kie's large truck and got Mari settled before Ava and Alex got in their vehicle and followed us. We went as fast as we could while we tried not to jostle Mari in the back seat. Marek had a cool cloth on her head as he held her hand and whispered quietly to her. I put my hand on Kie's and smiled at him, he looked at me with concern.
"Are you sure that you have a cure for this? We don't have a margin for error."
I nodded my head and then remembered he couldn't see me. "I am sure, I ran her blood through a tox panel and found what I had been missing all along. It isn't just herbal, it was extracted and mutated into something else. I found it on both the tox and supplement panels that I had done thanks to Brook. I tell you your sister is a genius."
He smiled at me as we arrived at the hospital. We quickly got Mari in and admitted before I met Ava down in the lab to work on the antidote. It took us four hours to finally come up with a version that reacted Mari's blood. We quickly got it bagged up and attached an IV tube to it before we all rushed upstairs. The lab tech handed it to the nurse and told him to trust us, that it would save the girl.
As soon as we had her hooked to the bag she started to look a bit better. I could tell they had drugged her up and I was hoping they would since the compound had large amounts witch hazel in it. The analgesic was for external use, but a great cleaner in her blood was what we needed. As the witch hazel, black cohosh and valerian ran through her body I saw her hands clench and her body tighten with pain. I hung back as Marek held her hand and kept her calm, lived the pain with her. I felt horrible for the fact I had to put her through this, but I wanted my daughter to live and I knew her pain.
Kie came up from behind me and held me tightly as I started to get weak. The meds they were giving her weren't enough to keep the pain away for long and the sound of my daughter's screams filled my brain.
"Breathe Imi, this is necessary. We all know it and no one faults you for this at all."
I shook my head. "That isn't the point Kieve. My daughter is in pain and I am not even sure if this is going to work. I could lose my daughter and the only thing she is going to remember is the pain. I am scared and I want to run, I want to stay, I want to cry, I want to scream. I am scared she won't want me near her now. Kie what am I supposed to say to them both, they have always felt the other's pain. Now they are there sharing it together and Marek doesn't even know if his sister is going to come out of this. What am I supposed to do."
I looked over my shoulder at Kieve when I felt a hand on mine. I looked over to see my son smiling at me. "Come join us Momma. Come sing to us and help us through it. We know this is necessary no matter the outcome. You have always done your best for us, now we will do our best for you. Come on Momma, sing to us."
I was led over to the bed and put on a stool by my daughter's bed. I held her hand tightly in mine and looked deep into her pain filled eyes. I put a smile on my face and began to sing.
Mama's Song

Mama you taught me to do the right things
So now you have to let your baby fly
You've given me everything that I will need
To make it through this crazy thing called life
And I know you watch me grow up and always want whats best for me
And I think I found the answer to your prayers

And he is good, so good
He treats your little girl like a real man should
He is good, so good, he makes promises he keeps
No he's never gonna leave
So dont you worry about me
Dont you worry about me

Mama theres no way you'll ever lose me
And giving me away is not goodbye
As you watch me walk down to my future, I hope tears of joy are in your eyes

Cuz he is good, so good
He treats your little girl like a real man should
He is good, so good, he makes promises he keeps
No he's never gonna leave
So dont you worry about me
Dont you worry about me

And when I watch my little baby grow I'll only want whats best for her
And I hope she'll find the answer to my prayers
And that she'll say

He is good, so good
He treats your little girl like a real man should
He is good, so good, he makes promises he keeps
No he's never gonna leave
So dont you worry about me
Dont you worry about me

Mama dont you worry about me

Dont you worry about me
I felt the tension leave her body as I sung so I kept humming it as the next wave of medication made it's way through her body. I watched her body as it bowed with what seemed like immense pressure, the pain coursed through her and she gripped us tightly. Kie came over to us and she automatically took his hand in her other and held it tightly. I felt horrible as she screamed and cried, but I held her all the tighter. A few minutes later she became quiet and we looked over to see her unconscious. I quickly checked the machines that she was hooked up to and saw her vitals were good. I put a hand on my son's shoulder and smiled at him as I gently led him out of the room.
"Get something to eat and drink while you can, if anything changes I will let you know. I figure if we do it in shifts then she will always have someone with her. You go eat first since I have a feeling she will be out for a while."
He nodded to me and headed from the room to the cafeteria. I sat down next to her and held her hand tight. "No matter how much pain you go through now you have been through worse. I know you are strong enough to get through this and we will be right here for you. I know five days is too long to have to go through this and you are going to be so weak when it is over, but think of the new life that we are going to be starting soon. Think of the new adventures that you are going to have and the new people you are going to meet. My wonderful strong daughter through everything I will be there, you and your brother are the light in my life and no matter what I will stand by you. Use my strength now to give you more, to push you through this."
Marek's hand on my shoulder made me turn around and I found tears in his eyes. I patted his hand and looked back at my daughter. "I won't be long away my dear, back as fast as we can." I grasped Kie's hand and led him from the room. I walked slowly down the hall as I tried to hold myself up. Kie put his arm around me and walked me down to the cafeteria. I sucked in a deep breath as we walked through the door. Ava was sitting down with Alex at a table and she smiled as she saw me. I ran over to her and hugged her close to me. It was then I couldn't hold them back anymore, the flood of tears that had been below the surface for so long.
Ava held me tight and patted my back and Kie sat behind me and held on to my shoulders. I cried for what seemed like hours as the pain and sleepless nights poured over me. I heard a sound then that stopped my heart at the same time it moved me into high gear.
"Code blue room 4314, Code blue."
Ava, Kie and I looked at each other and screamed at once. "MARI!"
