We were all standing around in shock at the dead body on the floor in front of us. All of a sudden I heard Cherry giggle.
"Well that knocks off everyone on my list. They are going to have to send someone better than that to take us out. I wish they would have sent a bigger challenge to us. That was just down right pathetic."
I walked over to Cherry and slapped her. "You know I really wish that the things that you found so fun never found it's way to my doorstep. You are really selfish still. Ava and I have made a life for ourselves and then you come along and start throwing a wrench into everything."
She looked at me confused. "You never talk like that Imi. What's wrong?"
Ava eyed me suspiciously. I shook my head. "Nothing wrong that I know of either than all of the stress that seems to come with my previous life and everything that compounds upon that. I have so many things on my plate right now and I can't even begin to understand what your obsession with our old life is."
Ava wrapped her arms around me and hugged me tight. "You know my dear, I think that I understand, but so much is riding on us. We have to keep our families safe from everything. We are responsible for those we love Imi and no matter what happens. If it means that we fight Imi, it means a fight."
I nodded my head. "That doesn't mean I have to like it Ava. Right now I want nothing more than quiet. Just some nice quiet to get everything in order."
She nodded. "I understand that my dear, but we do what we do and it is who we are no matter how far we try to run. Our loved ones understand that."
I held up my hands in defeat. Alright, alright we will be ready. I am still going to protest. I have my reasons."
They looked at me for a moment before I walked away and back to the others. I placed my head around the deck as I worked. I knew the dead body would have been disposed of before it could have been seen.
It was like minutes passed, but it was hours. Kie grabbed the hammer on my back swing which made me turn around. He saw the distress pass my face and he pulled me close. I felt the tension build up in my body and as soon as he squeezed me, I began to cry.
