I sighed as I walked into the building and straight towards the bosses office. I knew it wasn't good and if he knew about my blindness I wondered then if I was going to lie to him or tell him the truth. The whole problem revolved around the fact that I hadn't told him to begin with and I had adjusted to my life so well. I knocked on the door and heard a gruff "come in", yet I couldn't make my feet move forward. Bossman was never easy to deal with but he was justly fair. I heard a hand on the door and jumped back a bit. I stayed put while I felt myself being surveyed.

"Mara, come in hun. We really need to talk." The sound of his voice was tired and strained. I knew that I couldn't lie to him. He had kept me on for a long time even though in the beginning I struggled.

I moved slowly into the room putting my hand out a bit to feel around for a chair. I tried to be as inconspicious as possible, but I had a feeling he noticed. "Whatcha need Bossman, got lots of work to do."

The sigh in his voice told me all I needed to know. "I was talking to that damned officer out there when she let something slip. I need to talk to you about it. I know this is going to sound very insensitive of me, but is it true? Are you seriously blind?"

I dropped my head in my hands and felt the tears well up in my eyes. I knew that my wonderful life was coming to a screeching halt around me. I nodded my head and kept my eyes downcast.

"How is it then that you do such good work. I would have never guessed?" The amazement in his voice surprised me.

"I lived my life as normal as I could. Dan and I changed up our routine a bit, but we made it to where no one would know. I like it that way."

"Seriously, you can still film without being able to see. Do you think that tomorrow I could shadow you and see how you do it. I find it interesting that you can still do it."

I guess the shock must have showed on my face for he started to laugh. "I- well, I would be grateful if you didn't tell anyone about this. I mean I do my best to live life the way I know how and I don't want people to think I am invalid and not treat me like, well me."

He was silent for a moment. "Oh, yes right you can't see that I am shaking my head. Very well then, it will stay between us and Dan of course, but you need to work harder to try and seem normal. That does explain the gigantic dog that you keep with you."

I laughed then. "Molly is more than a service dog sir. She is also a guard dog and a kid wrangler. She helps me to make sure the kids are safe while they ride on their four wheelers, while I am horse back riding and keeps them out of trouble when they are in another part of the house. She is pretty much an extention of me that I can't be anymore. Would you mind if I brought her in. She can guide me from a distance and help me to seem a bit more normal."

He laughed. "That would definately be one way to scare the people around here but I don't see why not. I mean we need to keep this under wraps as best as possible since I would have to fire you for this. They wouldn't believe that you can actually do it."

I giggled. "Isn't that why you are going to shadow me tomorrow. Now you also know why I don't use the editing room very much. People always move things around and not put them back and it makes my job twice as hard. That is why I use audio cues on the camera and just edit from there."

"That is very interesting Mara. I am looking forward to seeing just how you and Dan figured this out and still do such wonderful work."

"Thank you sir, I appreciate you not writing me off so quickly. I have adapted well to this and I know that I enjoy my job as now you would probably like to watch me do it."

He laughed again. "Is your story for today done?"

I nodded my head. "Yes sir it is, I was going to drop off the tapes right after I left here. Thank goodness the one thing that doesn't change is the video drop off in the studio. Take care sir and I hope you will be driving seperately since Molly takes up the whole back seat."

"Alright Mara, bright and early. Curiosity is getting the better of me and I want to see you two in action."

"Yes sir, bright and early it is." I got up and left the room with a smile on my face. I slowly walked out of the room and made my way over to the studio and dropped off the tapes before heading back outside for the day. I had some pressure of my chest and I relaxed as I jumped into Dan's car to head home.

"You seem happy. Did he not know about your blindness?"

I laughed. "Oh he knew, but he was quite intrigued by it and will observe us tomorrow."

I heard his breath catch. "Observe us how? I am starting to worry about this."

I couldn't stop the chuckle. "He just wants to see how we pull it off is all. Let's have a normal day and go from there."
