My dad was staring at me. He wanted me to say something. I had been ignoring him for the past three days. He hasn't said a word either, he would just stare. Long and hard. I looked at him from time to time, but pretended I was looking behind him.
"Honey." He started. "Listen to me."
I walked away.
"Mia come here now! I don't want any more silliness out of you! This has gone on long enough!"
"Has it?" I asked.
Dad stared again.
"Dad, you don't understand. You didn't care that my boyfriend, who I loved, left me. You acted like you liked him not being here."
"That's not true honey, and you know it." He eyes looked kind of pleading.
"No I don't! Stop acting like everything is normal. I have old enough to do what I want, I have listened to you for long enough and I am ready to move on."
"What are you saying?"
Dad wouldn't say anything else, he just picked up my bag and followed me to the door. Outside was a car waiting for me. It was Chase, my best friend. I was moving away with him.
"Don't do this." Dad finally said.
"I can do what I want, remember?" I replied.
"Fine, but don't come back unless..."
"Just visit often ok?"
Chase hopped out of the car and opened the back door for me.
"Hello Mr Dawson." Chase said.
"Hi." Dad replied crossly. "Could I talk to you for a minute son?"
Dad and Chase walked to the gate. Dad was whispering, but I could mouth what they were saying...well, bits of it. "Dont...her...ok?" Is all I made out.
Chase nodded and walked back over.
"Are you sure you want to do this Mia?" He asked.
"Yes, I'm sure."
"Ok, but we have to go soon."
