Chapter 3
Woken up from a nightmare. I look up at the ceiling, thankful that I am here and not there. I look at my cell phone, which it is on my nightstand, and see I missed a call. I look to see who it was from. Private. That’s so weird. I never get phone calls, not like this.
I guess I was a little scared earlier when that person called and I didn’t know who it was, all I heard was breathing. I heard my heart thump now, as if I could see it now. I looked at the clock, 4:30. I wasn’t going to get much sleep. I feel myself shake in the bed, just thinking about the dream.
I’m walking down a hallway. Tapping from shoe noises from behind me. I begin to run, the sound getting louder. Now someone breathes close to me, yet not so close. I run out the door of the hallway I was in, and there he is. This man. Just sitting there on the ground. He looks up at me and smiles. Slowly he gets up and throws me to the ground. He starts to kiss my neck area and moves to my mouth. I try to push him off, but I’m just not strong enough. I look around, and there I see Hayden. He looks at me and I scream for help. This guy on top of my starts to take off my clothes. I look at Hayden, his dark green eyes stabbed me in the heart and he just stares at the man, smiling.

“Hayden!” I scream. Finally he starts to walk toward the man, lifting him off me. The guy stares at Hayden and just looks back at me, like I was some game. The man nods and walks away. I hug Hayden, knowing he would protect me. Then I feel him feel me. And he pushes me down and now we are on a bed. He takes off my clothes and ties me to the bed. My eyes are filled with tears and my wrists are bloody. I can’t break away from him, from his touch. He burns me.
“Hayden. Please don’t do this to me.” I say through the napkin stuffed in my mouth. He looks at me. Just stares at my body, as if this is what he wanted. He gets on the side of the bed to, what looks like he was going to untie me, but instead he rapes me.
I open my eyes again, trying not to think of my dream again. How could Hayden have done that to me?
                                                --------------------------------------------------
By the time I fall back asleep, it’s time to go to school. I look at the clock again, dreading that I would’ve thought about my dream now. I quickly get dressed and do my hair. I look a little junkie but still decent. My hair it brushed and so are my teeth. I’m ready just a little tired.
I get to school and see Daisy right away. She is wearing a mini skirt, a white shirt with a black half jacket on top. I look down on myself, black jacket and blue jeans. I am a tomboy compared with her. I see Hayden and I do a very good job avoiding him. Hayden has become exactly what he said he didn’t want to become, which gets me angrier by the second that I see him.
The bell rings and I walk quickly to my first period. History. I walk through the door, Hayden not too far behind me and then I see Bryce. He is talking with the teacher.
“Oh, Giselle. Do you mind taking Bryce with you today to show him the school?” Mr. Bradshaw, my history teacher, says to me.
“No I don’t mind at all.” I smile and follow Bryce to his seat. He sits behind me in this class. His chocolate brown hair again is spiked to the tip and his eyes look right through me as if I don’t exist, that is how perfect he looks. “So are you new here?”
“Yea, actually I just came yesterday. I saw you bumped into the pole and well I just didn’t know where I was going. That’s why I was late to algebra.” He smiles. Such a beautiful smile that I have to look away.
“Oh, well that makes sense.” I say, shyly.
“I can’t wait to see the school.”
“Yea, it’s a big boom bam school.” I laugh and out of the corner of my eye, I see he smiles as well.
The class starts and the teacher begins to talk about how the war of 1812 started. I look over at Hayden, who is at least one row away from me. He is staring at me again, like he wants me. Finally, I look down into my book but I can still feel his stare on me.
I feel a note by my elbow and I slide it closer so I can read it.
‘Can I sit with you at lunch? – Bryce.’
I pick my pencil up. ‘Of course! I would really like that. –Gigi.’ I slide it back towards my elbow and I feel it get taken away. I wait a little bit, pretending to listen to Mr. Bradshaw and then finally it’s there again.
‘Thanks, I think you’re very nice. No one has ever treated me this nicely.’
Again I pick up my pencil and write back to him. ‘I treat everyone nicely, unless they treat me badly. So I can’t wait to show you around school.’ I slide it to my elbow as if this were a drill.
The bell rings and everyone stands right away. Girls make the boys bed down to get their purses and well I just turn around and look at Bryce.
“Neither can I.” He said, and when we walked out the door, I knew the journey would begin. I knew that he was someone I wanted in my life.
