I Hate Him, I Love Him
~ Chapter One ~
"...and well done Amy, for receiving an A...again." My biology teacher Miss. Stroud said proudly to the whole class.
I smiled at the teacher, on the outside I probably looked so happy and proud of myself, but on the inside I was dying of humiliation. I know what you're thinking, what the hell is wrong with an A? But that's the whole problem, nothing is wrong with it. Everyone thinks I'm so clever and can get everything right. A straight A - student. I don't hate it; I just get tired of always getting everything right, of being so good at everything, and never ever making any mistakes.
To the whole school I'm known as Amy Lake the goody - two - shoes.
I plaster a fake smile on my face and walk over to the front of the class to receive my exam paper. As I walk up I can feel the eyes of every student boring into my back.
"Go Amy!" my best friend Hannah yells from the back of the class.
"Thank you for that Hannah, do you have anything else you'd like to shout out?" Miss. Stroud says sarcastically whilst everyone laughs.
Could life get any worse?
I'd met Hannah back in pre-school. My mum and her mum were like best friends and that's how we'd met. She was the first person to actually become my friend and from since then we've been like two peas in a pod. Even though we're best friends we are totally opposite. Hannah is out-going, pretty and a typical girly-girl. Actually scratch that she's not pretty she's beautiful, she could even be a part of the poplars' if she'd want to because she'd fit in, with her shoulder length golden curls and her bright, almond shaped, sapphire eyes. Compared to her I'm plain boring. I always stick by the rules; I'm pretty much ugly and not very much girly. I don't bother with skirts, dresses and make up. I stick with Jeans and a t-shirt.
What's wrong in that? Well that's the question I ask Hannah and you can probably guess what she says.
"You've got to make an effort; don't you want to get Loki Daven's attention or not?" She practically screeches most mornings when she's round my house.
I just roll my eyes at her and say the same thing I always say to her.
"No I don't want his attention; he won't notice me with a short skirt, bright red lipstick and a crop top anyway."
The truth is though I do want his attention; he's the hottest guy in the whole school but obviously I won't tell Hannah this or she'd dress me up like I'm going clubbing or something.
"…Amy...well done again, as always you do your best to make all your teachers proud." Miss. Stroud says happily like she's won a medal.
What the hell is wrong with teachers?
I smile weakly at her and make my way to the back of the classroom and sit beside Hannah.
"Yay, you go girl!" Hannah whispers excitedly in my ear as soon as I sit down. "I don't know how you do it, but you've seriously got to teach me..." She carries on blabbing in my ear, not that I'm paying any attention.
I just role my eyes at her and tell he to shut up before Miss. Stroud picks on both of us for talking. I seriously am not going through another 20 damn minutes of humiliation.
After another boring 30 minutes of biology the end of school bell finally rings and everyone - including Hannah and I - run out the classroom before the teacher can say anything more.
As soon as we step a foot into the school yard Hannah begins her rant about how boring school and biology is. I just stand and listen impatiently, all I want is to go home and start on my homework so then I can finally take a rest and sleep...
It takes me 15 minutes to walk back home, I walk with Hannah half of the way, and the other half on my own. Hannah lives a couple of streets away from me, with her adoptive parents and brother. I on the other hand, live with my older sister, Ruby, my parents and my younger brother Tom. A pretty busy house you could say.
I take out my key and open the door, as soon as I step into the house I'm greeted with Tom who crawls on the floor screaming happily towards me.
"Hey kiddo," I laugh and pick him up from the floor, holding him tightly in my arms and spinning him around. Tom laughs and drools all over my shirt.
"Ugh! What have you done?!" I moan like a child whilst putting Tom back on the floor, searching for some tissue to wipe his gruesome drool. "I am wearing this uniform tomorrow."
"Amy, how was your day at school? And what's with all the noise?" Mom asks me, coming from the kitchen and giving me a kiss on the cheek.
"Tom spat all over me,"
"Amy, grow up! He didn't spit." Mom shakes her head at me, whilst Tom yells and screams to be picked up.
What an amazing day this is.
"Mom, I have a lot of homework to do, so I'm going to start on that now."
I run up the stairs not waiting for an answer and lock myself in my room. I change into a pair of shorts and a plain white tank top and settle myself on my bed. I take out my homework and start on my English one. I don't actually have a lot of homework. What I told mom was a plain white lie to get away from my moms' stupid lectures. I swear I'd do anything to get away from that.
I begin reading the English textbook on Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare. I've always loved Romeo and Juliet, I think it's probably because of the strong love they have between themselves. It's pretty un-real when you think about it, and it's so damn hard finding someone like Romeo these days. Not that all guys a pricks, just the ones at East Hill High School are. They're all so immature its madness.
Okay so maybe I'm exaggerating now, not all guys at school are immature, pricks and whatever else you want to call them but most of them - nearly all - go for the very beautiful girls, who wear way too much make up, wear way too short skirts and literally show way too much of themselves. And they are the kind of girls most guys want. And me, Amy Lake - the goody too shoes - is crushing on Loki Daven - the hottest guy in the school - when I know for a fact, he'll never notice me.
I could even walk around naked but he'll never notice me. Okay, so he might but that's a might not a "Yes he will notice you" or anything like that. I don't even know if he knows my name, probably not.
It'll be a dream come true if I ever got to be his girlfriend, or even got a chance to speak a word to him, like that'll ever happen though, because he has a girlfriend...unfortunately. But someone like him will obviously have a girlfriend, and his girlfriend is the most popular girl at school, Mia Jenkins.
And she is everything I described. Too much make-up, too short skirts, and shows way too much of herself.
But a girl can dream, right?
After I finish my English homework, I don't really have anything else to do so I decide to take a nap. I sleep for what seems like hours, until I hear loud noises from outside, which make me both angry and disturb my sleep.
What the hell is that noise?!
I reluctantly get out of my bed and walk towards the window, trying to keep my anger under control and not break anything, I stare out the window. There is a massive moving van which is loaded with sofas, a flat screen telly, wardrobes, two beds and more house stuff. I shake my head angrily. That is where the stupid noise is coming from! Just as I'm about to go back to bed, my eye catches on a few people I've never seen before. They might be new here, who knows? There is a girl who looks around my age, she has golden - blonde hair, from where I'm at you can't see the colour of her eyes but she looks so beautiful, I know for a fact that I'm jealous. She's wearing dark blue denim shorts and an "I Love You" t-shirt.
She's standing and staring at the moving van, and suddenly a guy - who looks a couple of years older than me - walks out of a car. He has black hair, which is spiked upwards, and the only thing I can say by looking at him is: HOT! He is wearing a black leather jacket and dark black skinny jeans, I can't really see the rest of his features because of the distance but I know that I have never seen him before.
I jump slightly as my bedroom door suddenly opens and my older sister, Ruby walks in.
"Amy, there are new people moving in next-door, Mom says we're gonna welcome them. So we're going round in twenty minutes. Get ready, like now!" Ruby says quickly, and then runs back out the room, giving me no time to talk.
What new neighbours?
I turn and look out my window again and see the girl and hot guy walk into the house next-door to me. Next-door.
OMG those new neighbours...
