Around 3 o'clock, the next day, Justin called me back. I was just stepping out of the shower when my phone started buzzing repeatedly.
"Hey. It's about time you called back."
Justin's voice sounded harsh. "Well you told me to leave you alone...after our 'discussion' in the parking lot." He started chuckling and it was pissing me off.
"Look. If you don't want to meet up with me...fine. But, I hope you know, it's something that deals with you too."
He was quiet for a moment, but then answered, "Fine. Where do you want to meet?"
"I'm coming to your house. Give me about 20 minutes."
Justin sighed and simply said, "Alright."
As soon as I hung up, My mom knocked on my door. "Come in," I hollered. She came in holding a box wrapped with white wrapping paper and a purple, silk ribbon.
"This was outside, on the doorstep." She sounded giddy about the gift; like a little girl.
I was teasing my hair with a comb when I asked, "What is it?"
"Well I don't know! It's for you, silly! There's a card: 'To my dearest friend and the girl, slowly, stealing my heart.'
The card was very romantic and I automatically knew the gift was from Logan. I took the box from my mom and gently tugged on the ribbon.
When the all the wrapping paper was off, I lifted the edges of the box and inside was a small dalmatian puppy. "Oh!" I exclaimed.
My mom's smile faded and she said, "Well...that's not what I was expecting."
I tenderly picked up the little pup and held it in my arms. "We have to keep him, Mom! It's just a baby."
I could tell she was consider it and finally she said, "Oh alright! But only because it's so little.."
"Yay!" I held the dalmatian close to my chest and it pop its little eyes open.
My mom came closer and asked, "Is it a boy or a girl?"
The puppy began whining and I quickly checked. "It's a boy! Oh! What should I name him?"
"How about Spot or Speckle?"
I shook my head. "No. Those are too original." I held the puppy up in the air and continued, "You look like a Roscoe."
"Roscoe? That's a funny name..."
I laughed when Roscoe began licking my nose. "Nonsense! It's a perfect name. My little Roscoe."
After begging and pleading, my mom agreed to watch Roscoe while I went to talk to Justin. "This will be the only time I do this for you!"
"Love you! Bye!" I said while walking out the door.
All the way over to Justin's, I kept thinking about Logan. He had got me a puppy! I was so excited...but then I remembered that I had to tell him about my baby.
He had to know.
I put my signal on to turn into Justin's driveway and noticed there was another car there. I wasn't sure who would be there, but I didn't worry about it.
Climbing out of my car, Justin opened the screen door and yelled, "Hey sexy! Nice to see you again!"
I rolled my eyes and shut my car door. When I stepped in, there was another guy sitting on the couch watching TV. Justin smacked him on the head and made him turn around.
"What the hell, man!? That hurt like a mother f..." He glanced over at me and stopped in his tracks. Justin grinned and stated, "Grace...meet my brother, Jared. Jared this is Grace...the girl I was telling you about."
Jared was plainer than Justin, but still cute. He had brown hair, but shaved down really short. He was slim and tall, like Justin, and had light green eyes.
Shockingly, he didn't have any tattoos or piercings. He held out his hand and I politely shook it. "Hey. I'm Jared."
"Grace." I simply replied.
He held my hand longer than expected, and Justin came to intercept. "Alright, Jared, let her go. Damn...you're gonna scare you away."
Justin looped his arm around my waist and pecked me on the cheek. "You wanna talk in the kitchen?" I wiped his lingering kiss off my cheek and nodded.
When we got into the kitchen, Justin lean on his bar and asked, "What's up?"
How was I suppose to tell him this? I decided just to wing it. "You remember the last time I was here?"
He looked at me confused, but answered, "Of course. How can I forget?"
I continued, "Well...do you remember using protection?" I crossed my arms and sat down at one of the kitchen chairs.
Justin shifted his feet and said, "I never use protection...why?"
Here goes nothing. "Justin, I'm pregnant."
Justin ran his hands through his hands and simply said, "Shit."
I rested my forehead on my knuckle and asked, "Really? That's all you have to say?"
He came up to me and sat in the other kitchen chair. "When did you find out?"
Justin groaned and mumbled, "Maybe I should start wearing condoms..."
"Justin...what am I going to do? This shouldn't have happened!"
He slammed his fist down on the table and then calmly said, "There always the choice of abortion."
"Out of the question. I will not kill a baby."
Justin replied, "Technically, it's not living yet..."
"Obviously, we have different beliefs about that. I'm not having an abortion."
Justin ran his hand through his shaggy hair and asked, "What about adoption?"
"...I don't know about that either, Justin. I mean this is a part of me and you."
He drummed his fingers on the table and said, "It's not a part of me, Grace."
I looked up at him, shocked. "What do you mean?"
"If...you keep this baby, I'm not helping you with it. I can't care for two."
I sat up straighter and looked him dead in the eyes. "You won't help me with any of the expenses? Are you even going to claim to be the father?"
Justin began twiddling with his earring and said, "No. I'm sorry, Grace, but I won't claiming to that."
Angry, I stood up. Tears began forming in my eyes when I said, "I can't do this by myself!"
He stood up, also, and tried to walk towards me. "Then don't. Give it up, babe."
I pushed him away and screamed, "No! I won't get rid of my baby!"
Justin threw his hands up and yelled, "Fine! Deal with this by yourself!"
I shoved him one more time and walked out of the kitchen. Jared was back on the couch and turned around to face me. "It was really nice meeting you, Grace."
Without a word, I went out the screen door, with it slamming.
Undoubtedly, Justin was an asshole. I sped out of the drived, spinning gravels onto the highway. I wasn't going to go home just yet...I wanted to visit someone.
I wanted to see Logan.
