It was a beautiful Saturday! The sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky...and I was in my room, bored out of my mind.
I felt pitiful because Josh and I had been hanging out every single day since school let out...and now that he has other plans, it's like I'm helpless!
All through school, I had never really had a best friend. I was the invisible girl who knew how to do every math problem you put in front of her.
I was the girl who sat with anyone who would accept her...so, now that summer was here...I had no one to hang out with.
I heard my phone going off inside my table and pulled it out thinking it was Josh. He said he would let me know when he had broken up with Chloee and that we would go celebrate.
It was a txt message...but it wasn't Josh's number. In fact, I didn't even recognize the number.
The message said, "You're still my girl...no matter what she says."
I stared at the screen intently. What did that even mean?
I txted the number back saying, "Who is this? How did you get my number?"
I held my phone in my hands and waited impatiently for a response...I started getting scared.
When 15 minutes passed, I decided to call Josh and see if he was txting me from a different phone.
He answered on the second ring. "Hey Button...is this important? I'm right outside Chloee's apartment."
I hesitated. "Josh, did you txt me a few minutes ago?"
He simply replied, "No, honey. I haven't had my phone out all day...until just now."
I stayed quiet for a long time, so Josh continued, "Is everything alright, Button?"
"Yeah...I just got this weird txt message. But, don't worry, I'll just show you later." I said.
Through the phone, I could hear Josh climbing up metal stairs and then he said, "Alright, Baby. I'll talk to you later!"
We said goodbye and I shut my phone. I had an uneasy feeling in my stomach...
If it wasn't Josh...who was it?
I would show my mom, but she would take it to extremes and probably shut down my service plan.
As I sat there, I finally asked aloud, "Who are you?"
