Hi there! This is my first time writing a novel, so I hope you all enjoy it and bare with me if my writing isn't up to normal novel expectations! I hope you enjoy it and please leave any feedback! I would love to hear from you.
Thanks,
Kimmie
P.S: This novel is not based on me but rather a dream I had ;)
Prologue
Don't you hate it when people judge you because you look a certain way? Or People think you're different? That's me in a nutshell. My name is Kimberley Stewart and I am a professional skateboarder.
I was born on June 10th, 1992 in San Francisco, California. Apparently, when I was little, I was really hard to handle and always jumping off the walls. My older brother Todd used to skate around the house (to the dislike of my parents) and since I could remember, I was following Todd around trying to skate just like him. My brother liked skating. He thought it was a good way to escape his problems by just putting down the board and zooming off into the distance. He didn't grow to love it as much as I did, but he always had an appreciation for the sport.
When I was little, my parents let me enter competitions. They soon learned that I actually was talented at something (they thought that I was bad at everything. Great parents, I know!) and soon paid for me to get more involved in the world of skateboarding.
When I was 18, I was signed to T-ReX, a professional skateboard troupe that was known for being one of the best around the city. I was thrilled to finally find a place to call home. A place where there was no judgement. To find people who actually liked the same things as me. I soon realized that maybe things wouldn't change; that they would only get more difficult.
