I I looked back at Scaris as Jenna spoke to him softly “Oh thank goodness you brought her back! I’m sorry for the inconvenience!” I paid close attention as he placed his arm on the doorway, and leaned his head up against it tiredly “No, it’s fine…I just didn’t want her to come back from school in the dark.” Jenna smiled warmly “Thank you so much, are you sure you don’t want to stay for a while? You look exhausted.” He paused for a moment “No…I’m fine…” His voice trailed off, and I jumped through the reach of my parents to hold him up as he suddenly collapsed.
Within a flash my mom took my place “Arian, get some water.” I raced into the kitchen “He must have been really tired…” I walked back out of the kitchen, the glass of water in my hand. “Jenna is he alright?” She looked at me and gave me a slight smile “Yeah, just sleeping…I guess he was exhausted, when was the last time he slept?” I lowered my head a little smirking “T-ten days…I bet.” I chuckled. Jenna raised an eyebrow “Ten days? Where did you two met?” I placed the water on the table beside of her, Scaris now leaning against the doorframe. Turning on my heel I shot towards the staircase, only to be jerked back by Jenna. I slipped and crashed onto the floor, Pete sitting on the couch lost in thought. “Arian Catchnit Heart” She said staring at me sternly. I scrambled up to my feet, speaking so quickly she didn’t have time to interrupt “SORRYJENNAINEEDTODOHOMEWORKIHAVEALOTLOVEYOU!” I raced up the staircase shutting and locking my door. Jenna looked down at Scaris, then at Pete. “Hey, Pete.”
“What honey?”
“Get off the couch.”
“What?”
“Now.”
Jenna stood in front of the sink washing dishes, when a loud thud, then irritated groan echoed from the living room. She dropped the dish she was washing and quickly rushed into living room to find Scaris pulling himself up, rubbing his hand through his hair confused. “Oh you shouldn’t get up!” He looked over at her, his different colored eyes softening “Oh…this place…?” He whispered.
JENNA’S P.O.V.
I raced over to him sitting him back down on the couch, Pete watching me quietly. I took of my gloves and finally sat down in a chair, leaning my head back. “Sorry…I expected myself to be more tolerant with drowsiness.” I looked over at him “How long did you go without sleep?” He propped his arms over his knees “About ten days…why?” I glared at him “She wasn’t lying then…but do you mind if I ask you something?” He smirked “You want to know what really happened?” Pete turned to him now intrigued in the conversation. “You were right to assume they got her.” I gasped “I knew it…when did this happen!?” Pete growled “So they made their move?” He nodded “Of course…I’m not sure when she was taken today…but as you are aware…they want her to be eliminated. To keep the secret of vampirism.” Pete glared at me “Did they take her to the arena?” I watched as the boy propped his head up against his hand, who’s elbow was balancing on his knee. “Yes…and it was a clever choice for them…her blood is pure…rare.” He paused for a moment “It was quite a temptation.” I responded quickly “Wait…then…who are you…you aren’t” He cut me off “A vampire?” Pete shifted uneasily in his seat both of us waiting for his answer. I froze as he smiled slightly two withdrawn fangs visible from under his lips “Of course.” I froze “And you saved her?” He lifted an eyebrow at me a smirk crossing his face “She was the one they were expecting me to kill…” I gasped, “You could resist?” He nodded “But only me…one of the few at least.” Pete stood up “Who are you?” A silence seemed to overtake the conversation in the room “Who?” He responded quietly. Both of us watched as he grabbed the neck of his shirt, and pulled it to the side so that we could see his shoulder. Winding across his shoulder and up his neck was a black jagged mark, the mark that identified him as prince, the prince of a plague.
I stood quietly in the shower, my fingernails scrapping softly over the dried blood on my wrist. The shampoo smelled great in the steam of the hot water, and after so much running it had such an amazing effect. I loved how it felt on my skin now, I felt so clean , and after waiting in the shower for a moment , I was able to inspect the damage.
My back sore from hitting the wall so hard, and the side of my hand was red along with my bleeding wrist that was actually bruised as well. My side was a little bruised from my fall along with a scrapped knee, but luckily that was it.
Now that I was safe in my home I could have actually convinced myself that the entire ordeal a few hours ago never happened. Well I could have if the Prince of blood sucking leeches wasn’t in my living room. Yeah…that changed things.
I reached out for the shower handle turning it down quickly so that the water would stop without cooling first. I had too keep my balance over the slick floor as I forced the shower door open, and I actually did slip on the tile flooring outside, but luckily I caught myself on the sink.
After actually getting home, and taking a shower, I realized how tired I was. Even after putting my pajamas on, I didn’t bother to go down stairs to eat. I HAD TO SLEEP. It was almost like the adrenaline had just worn off.
The covers felt great against my warm skin, and finally I was able to doze off, in peace, not noticing the black figure watching me through my window.
