SCARIS’S P.O.V.
Pete jumped as I suddenly shot up, inhaling quietly through my nose before snorting in disgust. “What is it?” He said turning away from the TV.
“Get Jenna and get out now.” I said standing up quickly, before letting a low growl slip from my throat.
“What?”
“I said get here now! There here.”
Pete suddenly stood up “Jenna!” I heard movement from the kitchen and in a matter of seconds Jenna was in the door way “Yes?”
“There here, come on.”
Scaris watched absent mindedly as they both headed for the door “I’m going to get Arian, both of you just get to the car, we can meet at the library later.” Pete responded with a quick nod and opened the door.
I watched the staircase for a moment. Their scent wasn’t too strong…that meant that they were still outside. The hunters had found her…and were coming back.
ARIAN’S P.O.V.
My eyes opened slowly, as I heard a slight sound coming from the window, a cat…maybe a bird or bat? I rolled over in my covers trying to ignore the sound, but it really did catch my intention when the window began to slide open.
There was no way, some bird bat OR cat could actually open an unlocked window. I tensed under the covers, and my mind could only tell me one thing. Don’t look, don’t move, and defiantly don’t make a single sound. I heard a footstep near the corner of my room. Then it was followed by shuffling, another footstep, more shuffling and another pair of feet. Then I heard shuffling from where my door was. What was happening was I surrounded?
I kept hearing more movement from the window, and by the looks of it that other person near the door was doing something because they were really, really quiet. I continued to listen with whatever sound I could gather, and finally the sound from the window came closer.
I could have sworn it took them hours to get about a foot, or maybe it just seemed that way but I knew it was two of them. Then an idea came to mind. The only reason these people would be here. Hunters.
I clenched my hand into a tight fist. Whenever they got beside of me, I knew what to do. I was going to hit one of them hard, and if I missed I would scream like mad and get peoples attention. Then I- I stopped myself there as I heard a loud thud, then the feet went frantic. What in the heck was happening over there?
I began to tilt my body sideward to try and get a view but I suddenly shot up as a gun rang out. Yet the only things I could see now where figures with the moon’s light. One was laying on the ground…blood coming from some part of the body, and the other two were struggling near the widow, one of them bleeding. I recognized one of them. “Scaris!” The hunter turned to look at me, but the other figure, taking this as a chance, forced him into the window his body breaking through the glass. “Scaris!” I yelled again standing up from my bed, and making my way over the body that just had to go and grab my ankle making me trip. “You’re not going anywhere!” I heard him yell, my breath getting caught in my throat when I saw his blood drenched face.
I heard Scaris muttering something about not killing him the first time with some colorful words behind my back. Yet I guess he made up for that because right after that, he pulled me away and fired something behind my back, killing the hunter.
“You had a gun the entire time?” I said glancing up at him as he bent down on one knee, breathing heavily “No…the other hunter dropped it.” I tried to move out of his grip but he picked me up, and carried me back over to the bed “You Ok?” I nodded quietly “What about you?”
“I’ll be fine.” He whispered setting me down on the bed. I was going to confront him about those hunters after ward but soon something else caught my attention. “You’re bleeding.” Then I remembered the first shot. “Scaris, don’t move!” He gave me a slightly confused look, but that was after a pulled him down on the bed and unbuttoned his shirt. “What? Are you doing?” “Ugh don’t make some sick joke out of this you pervert.” He chuckled slightly but quickly stopped himself, shooting up as I pressed my finger against a bloodstain on his side. “What did you do!?” He said leaning over in pain. “Look!” I said pointing at a bullet hole that he was nearly covered by his arms.
He lifted his arm slightly a growl escaping his throat “So that’s what hurt?” I sent him suspicious eyes “Like you actually didn’t now. Now let me see the back, I want to know if the bullet went all the way through” He rolled his eyes, and seemed as if he were going to move, but suddenly he bent over clenching his teeth to muffle a yell. “Scaris? Scaris what’s wrong!?’ He didn’t answer, one his hands clasped over his mouth as he began to slide off of the bed. I tried to support him, but I could only manage to soften his landing “Scaris, answer me!” I was prepared to call out to him again, but as his hand fell from his mouth I froze.
Two elongated fangs shone brightly with the light of them moon. Ten days of resistance, and loss of blood. His time was up, and he knew it.
Suddenly I felt him pull me down under him, wincing as I landed against the hard wood floor of my bedroom. I felt his hands slide from my arms to my wrists, and winced as he pinned them tightly to the ground. I couldn’t move my arms and I knew my legs wouldn’t help. I twisted my waist under him, struggling to move with everything I had, but he didn’t budge. “Scaris don’t” I begged shaking my head violently, my eyes closed tightly. If I had to be bitten, I wasn’t going to look, and yes I was going to give him the hardest time doing it. Well until I realized I was too tired.
I truly thought it was over until that one image flashed into my head. That one memory of my mother laying in the arms of that vampire.
Suddenly I felt my will return, and I was so ready to fight…until I realized I couldn’t move any more. I felt like I was asleep…but awake. Like my body had fallen away…but my mind was still there. Yet then I finally felt it, I felt him use his head to tilt my neck to the side. I felt his fangs scrape slowly over my skin, until they finally stopped. His lips seemed to hover over a certain part of my neck for a moment, and I gasped as I felt them sink too slowly into my skin. I wanted to scream, I swear I would be screaming my lungs out right now if I could but I couldn’t. I felt his fingers entwine with mine and I held them unwillingly to help escape from the pain, but soon I couldn’t any more. I could already feel myself getting weaker and the darkness was tugging at the corners of my vision. Yet even through all of this I still couldn’t help but feel relived when he removed his fangs, but before I blacked out I heard him whisper something quietly into my ear. “I’m sorry.”
