Chapter 1-Love Forgotten~

"You have been assigned to watch over Karen for now. Since you are new to this job, you do know what we are about?" a guy in a black suit asked me. "Yea-Yes sir" I stammered and recited what I've been told and taught these 3 months. "Teachers actually are there to look for students with potential, so they can be trained to serve the government. I have been assigned to this student because many others believe she is a great athlete, and might be good for the government if trained well." He nodded. "Very good Drew, but do you know why you?" I shook my head. "We chose you, because you are by far the youngest and best spy we have ever trained, and you have the most potential. Sending you in is a good cover. But let me tell you this, you are not to fall for your assigned person, and you are to watch her EVERY move." I nodded. "Yes sir." "Very well, you may leave now." I walked towards the door, and went outside. I walked out of the building, and was a bit dazed. I processed the information I have just been told, and went off to find Karen at her house. His words thundered in my head. "You are to watch her EVERY move." Every move… the two words spun around in my head. I reached my red sports car, and got in. I looked at the address one more time and drove off.
~~~~~~~~
I felt someone behind me, their eyes staring at me. I shivered and looked behind me. There was no one there. Chill out, Karen, quit scaring yourself. You're just tired, and you're on the edge. I sighed as I tried to re-assure myself, but I still couldn't shake off the feeling. Then as I looked up, I saw a shadow pass by and I let out a blood-curling scream.
Sunday
"Hey Kirsten, you wanna come over?" I said in the phone, and instantly got a reply. "Sure Karen, I'll be right over." I hung up and laughed. I could totally imagine Kirsten smiling on the other side of the phone, forever cheerful. I wish I could be as optimistic as her. Well, to start with she has a great family, an older brother, and two parents who love them. My family? No such luck, one older brother in college, and an annoying brother in middle school. Divorced parents, so on. I hate being the middle child, and especially when you're in high school, and everyone just seems to push you harder.
I heard my mom yell from downstairs. "KAREN! KIRSTEN IS HERE!" My bed room door swung open, and when Kirsten walked in, the whole room literally lit up. She threw her bag on the floor, and plopped down next to me on my messy blue bed. "What's up" she said, grinning from ear to ear. I laughed.
"You know when I see you, you remind me of a little kid" I said. She gave me a playful slap and snapped back.
"Whatever, Ms. OMG you're so childish? What we doing today?"
"I don't know… Let's go out and hang out in the front yard m'kay? Thank god you like sports."
"Psh, yea, but I'm not obsessed like you are." I rolled my eyes and jumped up. I changed into a t-shirt and shorts, and tied my hair up. Kirsten grabbed shorts from my closet and changed.
"Let's go slowpoke!" I teased. I was already out the door and ready to go. We raced to the yard, and grabbed a soccer ball. As we kicked the ball around in the yard and the sky slowly turned darker.
"Karen, it's six! I'm going out, dinner's inside!" My mom yelled as she got into her car.
"Okay mom!" I picked up the ball, threw it at Kirsten's head, and ran back inside. As I was in the bathroom washing my hands, when Kirsten came in and knocked me aside with her bum. After drying our hands, we raced to the dining room and sat down.
"Pass the beans kid!" I kicked Kirsten under the table, smiled sweetly and passed her the beans. She grimaced in pain and gave me a 'you will pay for this look.'
"Uh-o-" Before I could finish, a spoonful of beans were thrown at my head. I used my hands and scooped up a handful of mashed potatoes, and threw it at her. This is war! I thought and grinned as I ducked a handful of broccolis.
After we cleaned up, Kirsten went home. I showered and went to my room to sleep. 30 minutes later, when I was finally half asleep, I suddenly heard my door open and click shut. I snapped awake.
"Kareennnn" I heard someone whisper, making goose-bumps run up my arms. "Wake up Karen…" I slowly opened my eyes and looked around me. Everything was pitch black.
"Who's there?" I managed to say, my voice cracking. As my eyes slowly adjusted to the dark, I saw a shadow of a bulky man.
"Who are you? What do you want?" I asked, my voice quivering with fear.
"You Karen… You're special… Come with me…." He said, as he stepped towards me. I gripped my pillow in fear, and suddenly, everything around me started spinning. He was coming towards me, but from which direction? I lost consciousness, blacked out and fainted.
