-Recap-
“Don’t EVER talk about my uncle.” He rubbed his shin slowly, and looked at me.
“Since you’re such a feisty little thing, might as well give you the same choice as your uncle. Let’s play a little game called, fight to the death, shall we?” This time, my school mates didn’t bother being quiet. Gasps filled the air, then the whispering started. “SILENCE!” He yelled, as he glared around the gym. He turned back to me. “You’ll be…fighting Blade here.” He said to me, happily as he pushed a man twice my size towards me. “Ready? Set…GO!” By the time I snapped out of my tiny trance I managed to slip into, a fist was already flying towards me.
-End-
“STOP!” a voice yelled out, and the fist halted halfway. Gratefully, I turned around, but the person who stood up took me by surprise. Miss. Taylor. The men looked at her and laughed, and one of them whipped out a gun.
“NO!” I screamed out as he was about to pull the trigger. I threw myself forward towards the guy, pushing his arm away, and the bullet barely skimmed past her arm. It was only an artificial wound. Kind of… I breathed a sigh of relief, and turned my back against her. I tried not to focus too much on her hiss of pain and more on the person reaching for his knife, but I couldn’t. One of the men grabbed Miss. Taylor and pushed her towards me. I steadied her as she stumbled towards me, and I gave them a death glare. If only looks could kill. The man held her tight as the others formed a circle around me.
“You fight her, lil’ bro.” One of them said, pushing another towards me. They slowly backed off to give us space, and the fight started. He began to circle me, his hands held up in front of him. I jabbed my fight forward, making him scoot back. He looked at me warily and slowly advanced forward. He threw a punch forward, and a blocked it as best as I could. Pain shot up my arms when his fists made contact with my wrists, but I bit down on my lips and tried not to yelp. I watched his eyes and the twitch of his muscles. They weren’t kidding when they said to follow one’s eyes when fighting. His eyes dilated a little every time he was about to punch, and his arms always twitched. He began to punch me, no rhythm, just random throws to my face and body. A new blood. I dodged most but a lot contacted with my shoulders and stomach. I stumbled back and kicked my feet forward, kicking his elbows. His hand smacked him in the face when I kicked him, and his face was a mix of embarrassment, anger, and panic. I would’ve laughed if we weren’t in such a serious situation, but we were so I kept quiet. Tiny cheers were erupting from the students and teachers, and I stole a quick glance at Miss. Taylor. She was worried and scared for me, that much could be said. But then, so was about everyone else.
We circled each other a bit, and every time he punched me and hit his target, I would fly back and wince from the pain. Whenever I fell onto one of them, they would push me back towards the guy I was fighting, when the craziest thing happened. He punched me hard in the solar plexus, knocking whatever breath I had inside of my lungs, and I fell back. One of them pushed me forward, making me lose balance. I must’ve tripped over my own shoe, because the next thing I knew, I flew forward and then both of us was collasped in a heap on the ground. I must’ve accidently hit him in the face, because I could see a bruise forming. Not wasting anytime, I quickly sat on him and began punching his face furiously. With every punch he was getting weaker, and the pain in my knuckles was slowly ebbing away as more and more adrenaline filled my body. Suddenly he pushed me off and I fell to the ground with a thud. The haze in front of my eyes was lifted, and suddenly, I began to notice everything around me. The worried faces, the blood and sweat mixed together on the ground, the heavy panting sounds that were coming from both of us. My adrenaline left me like that, and the pain entered my body like poison spreading throughout. As he came for my head, I kicked my feet up and aimed straight for his crotch. Bulls eye. He fell to the ground, groaning, and I kicked my other foot up into his face, and jumped up when I heard a satisfying crack. Just as all the attention was focused on us; the men on the edge of the circles were tackled to the ground. They all fell, one after another like domino effect, and a loud gasp filled the air. I spun around quickly, and kicked my feet behind the man’s knee. He fell to the ground, and this time, he stayed down. Not daring to take time to gloat, I looked around me. Spencer had Miss. Taylor tucked behind his back and was fighting two men, and Xavier was quickly advancing toward another.
“I got you,” I heard Spencer saying to Miss. Taylor as the men attacked and she screeched every once in a while. I mentally went awww when I was grabbed from behind.
“Xavier!” I don’t know why I screamed his name, but I just did it on first instinct. He glanced back at me, and kicked forward, getting a punch in return. I grimaced for him, but then focused back on the arms around me, holding my hands like an X in front of me. I quickly twisted my hands so that both my palms were facing the other way, and pushed out. The grip on my wrists was quickly thrown off, and spotting the gun on the guy’s waist band, I pretended to hit him with my right as I grabbed the gun with my left. He caught my right arm but I threw it off, and held the gun up in front of me. I took off the safety and pushed down. A click sliced through the silence, and that’s when the students began chatting with excitement. Damn it’s been forever since I used one. I looked around me, just to find Xavier, Spencer and Miss. Taylor beside me, and the Black Mists on the other side.
“Stay back or I’ll shoot!” I threatened.
“So cute… You ain’t gon’ shoot us” the tallest one of them said to me, and stepped forward.
“STAY BACK!” I screamed at him. He smiled and waved back at his friends, telling them to not do anything. He smirked at me and took another step forward, I hesitated and pulled the trigger. Then what happened next became a blur. He crumpled to the ground when I shot his knee, and two more fell down when Xavier and Spencer both pulled out a gun and shot them. As they were about to shoot the others, I stopped them.
“They’re still human, ya know?” The rest of them scampered 5 seconds before the police suddenly rushed in, and this whole thing was over. I fell to the ground exhausted, and sat there as everyone bustled around. I was thinking about what happened when questions began to run through my mind. How did Xavier and Spencer have a gun when all pockets were checked? How did they fight like that? How come they shot without even hesitating? Who called the police? I was pulled out from my train of thoughts when hands began to clap my back, telling me what a good job I did. I watched through my peripheral vision as Spencer and Xavier sneaked off, avoiding the police, paramedics, and everyone else. Slipping away before anyone else noticed. They disappeared and soon, paramedics put towels around me and I was brought outside and put inside an ambulance. Then the ambulance slowly drove away, with me inside and my curiosity and thoughts just waiting to explode. Answers. I thought to myself. I need answers.
