Prince Christopher and Lorraine spent the rest of the afternoon talking to each other. "So you're supposed to be at the palace meeting Princess Amelia?" Asked Lorraine. "Exactly," he said. "And instead you're here with me," she said smiling. "Yes, I'd rather be here with you than meeting a stubborn princess," he said. "Well, that's what I thought of you before I met you," said Lorraine. "What?" Christopher asked surprised. "I'm sorry, it's just that there were stories going around the town, I couldn't help but believe them, but now I see that your one of the nicest people I've met," she said.
Christopher's cheeks began to grow a shade of pink. Lorraine smiled at his reaction. The sun began to set slowly. The sky was a radiant splash of pink, red, and purple. "Wow, that's beautiful," said Lorraine at the sunset. "Yeah, you are," whispered Christopher. Lorraine turned around to face him. He realized she heard what he had just said. "I mean, yeah the sunset is very beautiful," he said correcting himself.
Lorraine looked back at the sunset and began to witness the most beautiful sight she had every seen. They stood there in silence admiring the beauty of the sunset. Christopher noticed that when Lorraine was watching the sunset, her eyes shined. Lorraine caught Christopher staring at her. Christopher looked away but then couldn't help but looking back. There eyes locked. Her light blue eyes looked back ay his green ones.
Christopher started moving closer to her until he was right in front of her. There faces were just a centimeter apart. Christopher noticed for the first time that she had light specks of freckles across her face. I can't believe I'm standing this close to her, so much for staying away, he thought o himself. I don't blame Stephen wanting to marry her; she's just so... perfect. Her smile made him ache inside at how much he wanted to kiss her. He was moving in to kiss her when he heard someone clear there throat.
It was Stephen. Christopher immediately moved away from Lorraine. Lorraine looked to the ground and avoided eye contact with Stephen. "The king and queen want you at the palace," said Stephen with hatred in his voice. "I'll be there in a moment," he said. "They said immediately, no excuses," he shot back. "I said I will be there in a moment," said Christopher. "Yes, of course, in a moment you say, why to give a goodbye kiss to Lorraine," he said disgustedly. "Stephen, this is none of your business, you have no right to talk to me like this," he said calmly.
"Well it will be my business when I report back to the king and queen that you were skipping on meeting with Princess Amelia by coming here to see Lorraine, better yet kissing her," he said. Christopher's face grew grave. "How's that for not being my business," he said confidently. He started walking away but then turned back and said, "Lorraine, you should be ashamed of yourself, letting your feelings grow for him when you knew that he was going to end up marrying a princess," he said and walked away.
"Stephen," Christopher called out. When he realized he wasn't going to turn around, he went to Lorraine. She was still looking at the ground. "Don't pay attention to him, he doesn't know what he's saying," he said lifting her chin with his hand. When he lifted her head he saw tears falling down her face. "Lorraine, why are you crying?" He asked softly. "He's right, he's absolutely right," she said her voice breaking.
"What are you talking about?" He asked. "This, this is all wrong, you're supposed to be meeting a princess," she said backing away from him. "I have to go Prince Christopher," she said and walked away. It was completely dark, the sun had gone down, and the moon had come up. She left Prince Christopher completely confused at everything that had just happened.
