Novel By: Micki Patricia

I'm your average, everyday tutor. However, no one's responded seriously to my newspaper ad. At least, not until now. I've met my smart-mouthed, flirty student and I'm not liking his attitude. But I'm up for the challenge of being his teacher. I mean, how often do you get to meet a vampire? View table of contents...

"Why aren't you running?"

His voice sends chills down my spine.

"I won't run," I say defensively, though my body is beginning to shake.

"Dinner always runs." His small smile slowly grows into a wicked grin.

Every fiber of my body tells me to run, but I ignore my instinct. There is no way that I am leaving. "I won't run," I repeat.

"You're positive about that, aren't you?" he asks with a laugh. "Let's see how long you can keep up that brave face." He walks behind me, where he has clear access to my throat…and does nothing. I can hear him laughing in my ear, but other than that, he makes no move. I'm sure that he is toying with me.

"I know you won't do anything," I say quietly. "I have faith."

"Faith in what? Friendship? Love? Nothing like that exists in my world." He wraps his thin arms around my shoulders. I stiffen as his cool breath tickles my neck. "Never has, never will."

"Stay away!" I elbow him in the stomach and quickly step away from him. When I look at his face again, his cocky attitude as vanished. All that remains is a cold, hard glare. I glare back, as if challenging him to attack me.

He stands still for a moment, then gladly takes on that challenge.
