Guilty Rose Chapter 15

It's the end of November already, huh? I shivered, even though I was fully covered as I walked to school. Snowflakes fluttered around me, something I would never see in... Where was that? I scrunched up my eyebrows, thinking hard about it. Then, I fell.

What the hell? I looked down and saw that I had tripped over a root. I stood up and noticed a faint throbbing behind my eyes. I gave it no mind.

Young one, you will be sucked in the wrath of the Demon, too. Don't think that you are safe since you escaped us once.

I froze in the middle of the sidewalk and a person bumped into me from behind. He hurried on with a slurred apology. I stared into oblivion while the world revolved around me.

What was that? That rasping voice? Was it just me hallucinating? Or is it something that ran deeper? I swallowed the saliva that was pooling in my mouth and continued to school. I couldn't help but worry about it.

So, after school, I walked home with Kyle after he finished his club activities. I fidgeted while walking home. I kept my head down, cheeks burning.

"So, what do you want to talk about?" he asked me. I was deep in thought and jumped when he spoke.

"So, today, while I was walking to school, a voice spoke inside my head. It said 'Young one, you'll be sucked into the wrath of the Demon! You have escaped us once but not twice!' or something like that," I said casually, trying to hide the trembling fear. I laughed shakily but was silenced when I looked up. Kyle scowled while his eyes darted around. I was then pushed flat against the ground while a bright light flew right where I was standing. "Huh?"

"Damn! That was close. Come on," Kyle said. He extended his hand toward me and pulled me up. "Those things are annoying. Don't worry; I'll protect you from the Death."

"Mm-hmm. Okay, thanks," I said, in a daze.
