Chapter One~

I awoke to a beautiful room, with pristine white walls, midnight black curtains, and a few doors. I looked down and found myself in my undergarments.

"Finally, you're awake!" a deep voice said warmly. I looked over my right. A man of about 18, dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, was holding a tray with a bowl of soup on top. He set the tray down on the bedside table and beamed.

"Wha-"I stammered, blushing. I covered my chest with the covers and looked down.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm Evan Kuuga," Evan said, smiling. He ran into a room and pulled out a dress. It was white with long flowing sleeves. "Here. Your clothes were tattered and dirty so I got this."

"Thanks. I'm Arisa Rune," I said, smiling brightly as I hugged the soft fabric. It smelled freshly washed and tinted with lavenders? Lilacs? And even roses.

"So, how did you die?" Evan asked me as he settled in a white chair with black arm rests.

"Die?" I asked. What?

"Yes, die. This is the land of the dead," he said, sweeping his hand across the curtains to reveal a tiled yard. Beyond the gate was a rolling plain of vibrant green grass, dotted with shining patches of wild flowers. The moon was unnaturally bright.

I vaguely remember a wolf and blood. Then it suddenly hit me. All of the details. There was so much blood...I really have died, huh?

"A wolf. He, no, it killed me," I said, sparing Evan from the goriness.

"Oh, I was in a car accident when I was driving to University," he said, smiling sadly. He had perfect white rows of teeth and a few dimples. Evan looked up and his black eyes, eyes of a snake, glittered with radiance and intelligence. Messy dark brown hair framed his Asian complexion.

"Do you have a bathroom I could use?" I asked.

"The second door," he said, blushing as I slipped out of the bed. I ran to the bathroom and locked the door.

"You've got to be kidding me," I whispered to myself.
