Chapter 6

Wow! This city is huge! It took me 20 minutes to get back to the garden I landed at… I guess it felt longer since I hadn't taken the time to look around. I actually knew the way through this city! It felt like I had lived here forever but had only stayed for two days. Whatever it was, I didn't complain. As I strolled along the waterfront trail, the sun had started to set. Ah! It was getting dark quickly! I was too entranced by the nature and stuff to notice the sun was dipping very low in the west.

I sighed and walked back home. Since they were doing construction on Spadina, I had no choice but to take the long way. The long way takes another forty minutes so it would take about an hour but I had no choice unless I could fly… Wait! I can! But I still don't really understand how it works and I don't want to end up on the ground or as Angel Roadkill so as much as I want to do that, I don't want to die a second time. But could an Angel die? I don't want to find out the hard way. I walked on, sighing again.

About halfway, just passing a alley, a pair of hands grabbed me into the darkness of the alley. One hand covered my mouth and the other was around my waist. Nobody saw me.

I squirmed and wriggled in the captors grip but no use. Damn it! I tried to scream and say some "pretty" stuff to the guy. No! I was being pulled back into the darker places of this area. Suddenly, I was being flung against a brick wall. I hit my head hard against the wall. Hard enough to nearly knock me unconscious. Black spots danced in my eyes and a wave of nausea came across me as I tried to stand up.

"Huh, what have we got here?" a sinister voice sneered. I shook my head and the spots cleared. There were about fifteen guys surrounding me. They all shuffled closer, close enough for me to smell the stench of beer and smoke on them. The main guy was a tall Caucasian man, about 25 with a knife in hand. "Tonight, we are going to have some fun with our gift."

They were advancing on me, going even closer. I was already up against the wall. I could fly, a small part of me whispered. Hmm, that wasn't that bad of an idea but there was no room for me to spread out my ten-foot wings. They were already close enough for me to punch them. Punch? Let's try it!

I lowered my head, pretending to be scared and helpless. With my head down, I watched the feet approach me. The guy on the left ripped some duct tape and lunged at me.

I waited for two heartbeats and dodged. I rammed my fist into his stomach. He doubled over and all hell broke loose. The guy on the right grabbed my hair and I hit him with my elbow right under the chest bone. His grip loosened and I sent out a kick to his stomach. He flew back into two other men. Four guys down, eleven more to go.

I was about to kick the guy again as he tried to get up but someone held me in a headlock. I was lifted off my feet and was turned around to face the main guy.

"Oh, dear. We have found ourselves a feisty one tonight, huh," he said, smirking. He leaned in close and dug the tip of the knife in the hollow of my throat. In my ear, he said; "Stop trying to escape or I'll kill you."

"Go and kill yourself," I replied, gritting my teeth.

"Not a chance, until I have a piece of you," he breathed, licking his lips. He addressed the others, "Bring her in the car, bound tightly."

"Yes, sir!" they said. No!

Someone, please, save me!
