“Venus de Milo?” I pondered aloud, wondering who had left me such a baffling message.
“Ah, a simply beautiful sculpture.” Simone cooed. “When I had my work experience there as a student, I would visit it regularly.” Édith and Diane rolled their eyes at each other, as if they had heard this before.
“Oh so where is it exactly?” Simone looked up at me surprised.
“Why the Musée du Louvre, Ground floor of the Sully wing if I remember correctly.” It had to be someone from my class, I mean, how else would anyone know I would be there tomorrow? It was no-doubt Tim trying to seduce me as usual, Oh well, case closed. I had to admit I was a little disappointed, there was going to be no mysterious stranger waiting at the rendezvous point Who did I think would be there? The phantom of the opera with a single red rose between his teeth?
After another bottle of wine and an amusing discussion about ex-boyfriends, I was exhausted, it had been quite a day. I reluctantly bid goodnight to my new poker buddies, receiving hugs and four kisses on my cheeks from each, and set off for my room.
Not long after I had got changed into my pyjamas, Bianca came back, brandishing junk food and cola. In French: Mal-bouffe et Coca, I was picking up the lingo already.
Between mouthfuls of burgers and French fries, we talked about our evening.
“Yeah the cruise was good, I hung out with Tim and Simon, their actually quite funny when their not being pervy.” I choked on a fry laughing.
“I wish I knew what Tim was like when he’s not being sleazy.” I contemplated with a slurp.
“Have you ever told him you just want to be friends?” Bianca asked earnestly.
“In about a million different ways.”
“There’s just one thing for it” I looked to her expectantly. “We’ll find him someone else to obsess over.”
“Now, that is a plan!” Though I couldn’t help but think, who would want to go out with Tim?
“Were you ok back here? Mrs Newton was way too harsh.”
“Yeah, I played poker.”
“Poker?” She replied utterly bemused. I filled her in on Céline and the girls and Tim’s phone message. Bianca shook her head at the mention of the message.
“That can’t have been Tim, I never saw him use his phone once. And anyway I doubt he could come up with anything as romantic as a secret tryst in the Louvre.” If this wasn’t the work of Tim, than who could it be?
“Who said anything about a tryst!” I mumbled, getting under my duvet. Switching off the light, she hopped into her bed, and sighed loudly.
“The Venus de Milo is one of the most romantic statues in the world!” She said, sounding not dissimilar to Simone. “It has potential rendezvous spot written all over it.”
“You watch way too many films.” I managed to yawn, before drifting off to sleep.
