Chapter 5

"WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU??? Did you just cry the WHOLE night? Did you even SLEEP???" my mom growled at me.

I can't even talk, no words coming from my mouth. I developed a sore throat from all that crying. She knows that something is wrong, and it involves Chris.

"Whatever it is, you guys can talk it out. Chris always knows how to get you back. Hmmph...This house will be filled with flowers again!!" my mom said in a reassuring voice.

I went to school, I did not even acknowledged my friends. I just took my exams quietly, and sat in one corner during breaks. My friends did not even dared to approach me, they just hugged me and patted my back. I think they know that this is a major one, they have not seen me like this before.

Yes, Chris and I have some petty fights, usually involving cancelled dates. I only see him once a week, and if he cancels, my world was shattered. But boy, how he makes up for it really melts my heart. He sends me tons of flowers, but the one special white rose is always given by him, personally. He's the kind of guy who is so persistent until he gets what he wants.

I met him at one of the hospital where I was doing my lab practicum. It's my last year of premed then. He was introduced by one of my acquaintances from another school. It was just hi and hello, no sparks. I even forgot his name after 2 seconds. But I remember how fragrant he was with his perfume. I like a guy who smells nice and clean.

I never had a boyfriend, well, because no one's really paid attention to me. No one really asked me out. My friends are the ones who always get noticed, I'm always at the background. I'm always seen as one of the guys, because I always help them out to secure dates with my friends. I'm the go-to person to ask what is Marisa's favorite food, Claire's favorite drink, what does Liza look for a guy...and I always deliver. Of course, when it comes to exams, I am always the source of all correct answers. I'm happy that way, no distractions. If I want to be a doctor, I need to stay focused. I had a crush, though, he was really cute with his dimpled smile. I boldly introduced him to my family, declaring that he is my ultimate crush. They all approved, my mom and grandpa was so happy they asked me when are they gonna meet him. That is where the problem lies. Man, he doesn't even know that I exist!! You see, I showed them my class picture in PE where Arnold is standing at the far left side, smiling. I, on the other hand, was at the back since I'm tall; way back that I wasn't almost included, thanks to this burly dude in front of me. Oh, well, like I said, I'm happy that way.

My mom handed me the telephone, "It's for you.."!

I answered the phone, and it was Chris. "Chris who?" Oh, ok, I remember, the guy who smells better than me. I want to politely tell him to never ever call me again, but I find him nice to talk to. He could actually work for the government as a spy; he already knew my friends, my phone number, even my birthday!!
