Collapsing on her couch, Ravyn covered her eyes with ehr arm, sighing in exhaustion. She was ready for a warm bath and a night of lying around watching movies in unflattering pajamas. She was in her apartment, which she shared with her best friend Sara Jennings. Sara was currently on a date with her boyfriend Todd, so Ravyn had the place to herself. Heading to the bathroom, she flipped on the hot water switch, and cursed when nothing happened. The apartment was old, but she thought the owner should at least make sure the water worked. Frustrated, Ravyn changed into one of her father's old white oversized shirts and a pair gray sweats she'd had since she was seventeen. Her stomach growled, so she walked into the miniscule room that was supposed to pass for a kitchen. Snatchign up a pan and necessary burger ingredients, she began cooking. Ravyn thought about Sawyer, and how devestatingly handsome he'd been today in his tuxedo. Angelina, bratty self-centered woman that she was, had lucked out and found a winner in Sawyer. Ravyn just wished she'd treat him better.

Lost in her thoughts, Ravyn didn't notice the burning smell until it was too late. Orange flames erupted from the oily pan, and Ravyn screamed, jumping back and frantically looking around for something to put the fire out with. It was useless, though-the fire was rapidly spreading, so she just grabbed every valuable thing of hers and Sara's she could find before racing out of the house, sirens already screeching in the distance. All she could do was wait for the firemen to get there and put the fire out, which they did relatively quickly. After answering all the questions the firemen and police officers fired off at her one after another, one of the younger police officers offered to drive her somewhere. She thanked him and climbed into the front of his squad car and called Sara to tell her what had happened. Sara was appalled, but told Ravyn not to worry, that she would just move in with Todd. The policeman, named Daryl Brennen, she learned, dropped her off with an astonished look, probably because of the huge three story house before her, and Ravyn headed up the walk, taking a deep breath. Ringing the doorbell, Ravyn took a deep breath, trying to keep her emotions in check. That plan flew out the window though, when she saw who opened the door for her.

Sawyer stared at Ravyn in surprise, unsure of why she was standing there in ratty old pajamas that made her look younger and more adorable than she already was, her long black hair pulled back in a messy ponytail that was pulled more towards one side of her head, and her blue eyes were glimmering with unshed tears.

"Ravyn? What happened?" He asked, concerned for the poor young woman.

"My apartment burned down," she whispered, her gaze directed to the floor. And just like that, Sawyer pulled her into his arms and walked her to the couch, where he sat with her pressed against him, her face buried in his chest. He saw Angelina at the top of the stairs, and she came rushing down, wide eyed, asking what was wrong and sitting on the other side of her sister. It was just passed ten, and both Sawyer and Angelina were in their pajamas, sweats and no top for Sawyer and some short silky thing for Angelina that Sawyer supposed was to make him want her. Unfortunately, he'd been laying in bed wanting Ravyn. When Ravyn finally calmed down and stopped crying, she explained to them exactly what had happened, and although it had cost her her house, sawyer thought it was mildly funny that the fire started over a dumb burger.

"You can stay here, Ravyn. However long you need to. Don't worry about anything," Sawyer said, his voice filled with authority and conviction.

"Oh no no, I couldn't impose," she said, shaking her head vigorously. "I was just hoping I could stay here for the night so that I have somewhere to sleep, then I'll be out of your hair tomorrow."

"Ravyn. We're your family. You're staying with us for as long as you need to. We want you here."

"Sawyer, if she doesn't want to stay, you shouldn't force her," Angelina told him, her voice sickly pleasant, pissing Sawyer off.

"Angelina, could I talk to you in the other room for a minute?" Sawyer asked through gritted teeth. She nodded wordlessly and followed him into the dining room, closing the door behind him.

"What the hell is your problem?" He snarled, barely controlling his horrible temper. He had a fierce temper that fired up at anything that bugged him, but he'd worked hard through his twenty six years of life to keep it in check. He had a kind heart, though, through all the frustration and easily blown top. Ah, the life of a Taurus.

"I don't know what you're talking about, baby," she said innocently, making Sawyer even madder.

"Call me by my first name," he said through gritted teeth. "What's your problem? Your baby sister's house just burned down, and you go and tell her that she shouldn't stay here? Are you crazy? You're supposed to take care of her! Sometimes I don't know why I even put up with you!"

"Is that true?" She whispered, her eyes wide and hurt.

"Yes," he said after a gulp, working up the courage to stand up to the coldest woman he'd ever had the displeasure to meet. "Angelina. I'm going to be your husband. I love you, but I don't know if I can be with someone who thinks her own sister can't be trusted with me. Have I ever done anything to make you think I'd cheat on you?" He asked, his voice softening and his anger slowly evaporating.

"I don't trust either of you," Angelina said quietly, her voice pained, for once something other than icy and bossy.

"Why? Why do you not trust us?" He prodded, placing a hand on her upper arm.

"Because I've seen the way you look at each other," Angelina said miserably.

"And how's that?"

"Like you're in love with each other." Angelina broke down crying now, but unlike when Ravyn started crying, he didn't take her into his arms and comfort her or press kisses to her soft hair. Because he was too stunned by what she'd said, wondering if she was telling the truth. Running a hand down his face, he sighed, unsure of what to do or say.

"Ange. You're my fiance'. Ravyn's gonna be my sister-in-law. I don't think we look at each other that way. I've never seen a look like that in either of our eyes."

"That's just the thing. Maybe you haven't, but everyone else has." He stood there in stunned silence as he watched Angelina leave the room, unsure of what had just happened between them, thinking too much about what she'd said to care.
