Chapter 17
POV: Jasmine
(3 years later)

It’s been 3 years since I first met Jordan. The 1st day of our senior year of high school is tomorrow. It’s been awhile, so I guess I’ve got some explaining to do. Well, after his parents approved of us being together, I asked if me and Jordan could finish high school and then go to the vampire realm with them, where the rest of the vampires lived. About 70% of the vampire population lived there because everyone there were strictly vampires. They agreed, so then we had to think up a hoax of where my parents were. We finally decided on that they had went on a trip overseas and were killed in a car wreck, and that I was an orphan until Jordan’s parents adopted me. So, yeah, we didn’t really have to worry about anybody bothering us about the details. I really miss my parents, though; it’s just so hard to live without them. I’m excited to be going to the vampire realm with Jordan after we graduate, but I am kind of nervous about being a vampire princess, and eventually, vampire queen. As soon as we arrive there, we’ll move into the real palace for the royal family. Jordan said that he’ll have the servants make my room there look exactly like my room(the room he had made for me when his father bit me) now. Also, as soon as we get there, Jordan’s going to turn me into a vampire. I’m kinda nervous about that, too, but Jordan told me that he’ll make it as painless as possible. I trust him, though, but I still worry. All has been forgiven between me and Jordan’s dad, and now we‘re so close that he‘s like my dad. I’m also really close to Jordan’s mom. We do all the girl stuff together like shopping, pampering, and tanning by the pool while the guys swim. Shawn’s actually started being nice to me, which kinda surprises me, considering what he did to me. I guess some people change. He actually acts like my own big brother now, which is kinda cool, I guess. He’s apologized for the past, and all’s been forgiven. I guess he’s kinda like Jordan’s dad: coming off as mean and vicious, but deep down, really loving and caring. Life’s great, I still hang out with my friends, though Jordan, of course, tags along. We’ve grown so close; I love Jordan more and more each day. I mean, 1 more year and we’ll be able to be together forever! This school year’s gonna be the best ever! Well, I gotta go to bed, it’s 11:00, and if mom(yes, I’ve started to call Jordan’s parents mom and dad) realizes I’m still up, I’m gonna be in deep trouble.

I can’t believe this is my last 1st day of school and the 1st day of my last year of high school! I thought excitedly to myself the next morning as I got ready for school. I walked into my closet, which was more like a mall, and picked out a cute white knee-length skirt lined with lace and a pink frilly top. I put it on and then picked out a pair of dangling pink earrings, a multicolor gem necklace, and a charm bracelet. I slipped on a pair of white sandals, grabbed my purse and my brown and pink messenger bag, and walked downstairs. I walked into the kitchen, laying my stuff down next to the bar. Jordan was already sitting at it, his mom and dad sitting at the breakfast nook across the room from the bar. I hopped into the seat next to Jordan and instantly a plate of grits, eggs, bacon, and toast was laid in front of me by a servant. Jordan just sat and watched me while drinking a cup of blood. Thank goodness, after I moved in Jordan’s parents either resorted to animal blood or got some from the special blood bank that they had back in the vampire realm.

“So, are ya’ll both ready for your 1st day of your senior year of high school?” Mom asked, not looking up from her book she was reading.

“Yeah, I guess so,” I said, kinda nervous about what the future would hold after this year.

“Yeah,” Jordan responded after me.

“Good, well, enjoy it while it lasts, because after it’s over, there’s not turning back, because you’ll have to immediately start your training and then you’ll take over the throne 3 years later,” my dad said,

“You’re days as teens are coming to an end, because as soon as you begin training, you’ll have to completely focus on that and nothing else, and will become adults.”

“Yes, dad,” Jordan and I responded in unison. As soon as I took my last bite of food, Jordan and I got up out of our chairs.

“Bye mom, bye dad,” we both said in unison as we walked out the door to his car, which the servants had already pulled around. For his birthday last year, his parents had gotten him a brand new black Corvette, and for my birthday, they had gotten me a hot pink Ferrari with my name written in swirly dark purple letters on the driver side door. Since we were in the 12th grade now, he could drive, even though he’s a lot older then 16. He opened the passenger door to his Corvette for me and I hopped in as he shut the door. He was at the drive side door and inside in a matter of seconds, which after living with a house full of vampires for the past 3 years, didn’t scare me like it used to. I was used to their super fast vampire speed, being able to read my thoughts, and so on. Jordan started the car and grabbed my hand.

“Ready for our 1st day of our last year of school?” he asked, squeezing my hand.

“Yeah,” I said nervously.

“Hey, Jasmine, it’s okay, I know you’re worried about all the things that are gonna happen after this year, but it’s okay, because we’re gonna go through it together,” Jordan said reassuringly. I sighed as we pulled into the student parking lot. I trusted him, and knew we’d go through it together, but still, I was scared and nervous. I mean, I’ll be in a totally different place where I know basically no one. It’s kinda scary, when you think about it. Jordan pulled into a parking space and cut the car off. He was on my side and opening the door for me a second later. It’s kinda nice, because with Jordan, he never lets me lift a finger. He’s like the perfect gentleman. If I didn’t refuse, he’d probably even carry me everywhere so I wouldn’t get tired walking. We walked to the door to the school, Jordan opening it for me and then following behind as I walked through the door. We walked to our lockers, which were only a couple down from each other, which was great. I opened my messenger bag and put the rest of my school supplies in my locker, while Jordan did the same. We had all the same classes, which mom, dad, and especially Jordan made sure of. We shut our lockers after we grabbed our books for 1st period and then he escorted me down the hallway to our homeroom, his arm wrapped around my shoulder. That’s when I knew that this school year would be the best year ever.
