-Somewhere in the Cynicalian woods-
My breath came hard and fast as i ran and jumped over streams and trees. I needed to hide before the man could catch me and bring me to Zatvor. I heard his footsteps fast beind me and knew exactly who it was. Falcon Invasorem and his brother Lupine have been chasing me for months. I would be fine if the woods of this terrible country weren't so damn hard to live in.
I'm Saltus Accola. Yeah, I know, i sound like a seasoning. Well i'm not, i'm a nekko- a mutation that i'd rather not have.- It's terrible, I was born to a higher up, beautiful, wealthy family. Hah, they saw I came out with ears and a tail and I was screwed. They don't want me. they kicked me out on the damn street and I had to fight for my life since i was 5. I'm lucky to be alive.
Falcon shouted "Saltus! It's too bad you're too fast! If you weren't so damn agile, i'd have you in my grasp!" I rolled my eyes as my ears flattened. "Well why don't you go write a book on it? Do you really think you can catch me?" I burst into laughter. "Come get me, pretty boy!" I quickened my pace and threw myself onto a branch. as soon as i began climbing, Falcon burst into sight. He smirked and tightened his grip on the gun he was holding.
Surley he wouldn't shoot me. I thought as he pointed his gun at me. I was prooved wrong as the tree shook and i almost fell out of it. "Fuck..." I mumbled to myself as i realized not only that i didn't have a way out of this, but whatever he shot, hit me too. Blood pooled on the ground as i clutched my shoulder and fell. Now, I have a high pain tollerence, so this is all very new to me.
I fell to the ground, hurting myself even more. I rolled over, in tears because i was just plain screwed. Falcon started walking towards me, sealing my fate at Zatvor. Hegrabbed one of my ears and looked into my eyes. "Isn't this a sad thing? I have to bring you in there like this...This could have been over months ago, yet you led us on a chase that ended how it did. I'm so lucky that i'm faster than my brother, arent I?'
He smilked and pulled me up by my injured arm mercilesly. I screamed like hell and started sobbing. I had never been shot, and if you haven't, i can tell you that it hurts like a bitch and feels like a metal pole through you. Falcon bound my arms and leg together and hoisted me over his shoulder. All that was going through my mind was a constant i'm fucked, i'm fucked, i'm fucked, i am so fucked.
Then, out of complete luck, a black figure came running straight at my captor.A black horse and it's armored rider trampled Falcon a second after he threw me to the side. I hit a tree and rolled over, silently crying again, but thanking the Infinate that i was alive. As I looked up, the rider came towards me, stepped off of the tall animal, and knelt down. He lifted his helmet up, just like they do in fairytales.
His stone grey eyes stared at me lifelessy. He was pale, had shoulder length black hair, and if it werent for his breath, I would have thought he were a walking corpse. He had a soft, still, frown and could hold a stare. Without speaking, he started untying me legs first, then my wrists, lastly, he looked at my shoulder. "Can Itake this off. " His voice startled me. It was deep and rough.
I took a second to remember what he said. When i finally recalled it, I looked at him questioningly. "Look, i'm trying to help you. just let me take it off." I nodded and let him take my shirt off. He examined the bullet hole. He wet his sleeve and cleaned all of the blood off.The stranger took a cloth from somewhere i couldnt see on his horse and tore it to thin shreads. He wraped the thin peices of cloth around the wound and put my shirt back on me.
The only thing going through my mind was Why?
