Chapter 16
Amelia was woken by Samantha in the morning, so she could get ready for school. Amelia was worried. School was where Jared would be. Her face went blank. Jared would be sure to find her at school, and her friends couldn’t guard her from him all day. They had different classes to her. Oh no, she thought. What’s going to happen today? A solitary tear ran down the side of Amelia’s cheek. Rowy rushed over to comfort her.
“Maybe we should go to your house and see if your mum will let you stay home from school today. You look like you could breakdown at any second”. Rowy and Samantha agreed. They would take her home, and they would all pretend that Amelia was just too sick to go to school today. Well, it wasn’t a total lie. She was love sick, and heartbroken, at the same time.
Once Amelia was tucked into her bed by her loving, but strict, and overly careful mum, she started thinking about what it was she actually wanted.
Jared was her first love, and he had meant the world to her, and she was still deeply in love with him. But, then there was Tristan. She did like Tristan, but were his feelings to strong for her. He did love her, and she felt horrible not being able to return this love.
Amelia then touched on the idea that maybe both of these guys weren’t for her. It was hard to be happy in a situation like this, she thought, so she stopped thinking for once, and just let herself slip into dream world.
In her dream, everything felt so real. The people. The places. The occurrences. Everything looked like it was the real world. The only thing that gave her away was the smile she saw on her own face when she walked past one of the many mirrors in her house.
She walked down her spiral staircase, and headed for the front door. Who was behind the door? She reached for the doorknob, but fell short. This was one of the weirdest dreams Amelia had ever had before, and all she knew was that she had to find out what was behind the door.
She walked to the kitchen, still wondering why she couldn’t get out the front door. Her mum and dad were both at the table, eating breakfast.
“Amelia”. Said her mother. “Come eat some breakfast. He’ll be here soon just eat something first”.
Amelia was at once, confused. Who was he? What was her mum talking about?
“Mum, I don’t understand. Who will be here soon”. She needed an answer, and maybe it was the one she had been searching for in her waking hours.
“Oh, don’t be silly. You know exactly who. You spend all your time with that boy. Too much time I say. Time that should be spent on studying”. Amelia’s mum walked over to the bench shaking her head.
The door bell rung, and Amelia jumped up, out of her chair. Not looking back, see ran for the door. This was it. She opened the door, slowly, taking care. Would she be disappointed with the guy standing outside. All she saw was a tall outline, completely taken over by the bright light of the sun.
The sun was blocking her view, but as it started to fade she began to see more of his figure. That’s it, she thought. Not long now. “Jared? Is that you?” She screamed out, exasperated. But, before she could find out, everything turned black...
