Amelia lay awake that night, utterly heart broken. What was she to do? Everything was out of her control. Her life as she knew it was over, and she had no idea what was now left for her on this earth. She simply curled up into a tight ball, and cried for the remainder of the night. She wondered silently if it would actually do her any good.
The morning came, all too quickly for her liking, which meant one thing. School, and people. How could she face them? Her motivation for living was now gone.
She got ready and left the house, avoiding her parents. She didn't want them to know anything about her situation, as she wasn't supposed to be in it anyway.
The day dragged on long, and she became increasingly aware of her life without Jared. She reminisced on her days with him, but soon found it too painful, and had to push the memories far from her mind. It was a lot harder than she ever imagined it would be. He was all she ever thought about, and she didn't know if this would ever change.
Her moods slipped, and people watched and worried, they didn't know what to do about it. Her parents tried to talk to her. Her old school friends tried to comfort her, and try to get her to open up. Amelia could see that they were all making an effort, so she decided to try make things right. One lunch time at school, she approached the canteen area, with care. She didn't know what to say, or if anything she said would help her situation with her, after the first time.
"Hi guys". She forced a smile, and walked towards them.
"Hi", was all they could mutter, they were simply stunned. They had found her complete transformation horrifically fast, and were not sure what to say. They didn't want to cause her any further pain, as they could see it written across her face.
"So.......how have you all been?". She asked this so casually, as if no time had passed, as if everything was the same as it had ever been.
"Good". Some replied.
Amelia looked over at the brick wall, and saw something that made her heart slump. How could she continue being so casual, and still be around this all of the time?
