It's the year 1876. Phyllis Yates just woke up from a dream. She gets up. She needs to tell her older brother Gordon about the dream. She and her brother have been vampires since 1823 when they were robbed and bitten by a vampire while on their way to this farm. Phyllis dreams things, things that almost always come to pass. It did happen before that dreams warned her about things to happen so her brother would work out a plan to make sure it never came true. She's been having dreams of a young girl since Gordon mentioned his engagement to Edith, also a vampire Gordon met a year ago. It's not easy when you have to tell your one and only brother that the one he's engaged to isn't the one that's meant for him. Gordon is outside brushing his horse, "Brother. I have something to tell you."
Gordon looks at her, "You've had a dream."
"Aren't you going to tell me?"
"I dreamt about a girl my age. You're supposed to meet her sometime in the future. She's the one you're supposed to marry."
"You're mistaking, Phyllis." He starts to brush the horse again.
"It's not a mistake, brother. I saw her. I haven't told you but I've dreamt of her before, twice. This time I know it's how it's supposed to be."
"Don't be silly, Phyllis. Edith and I are getting married in two days."
Phyllis is calling after her brother as he's walking the horse back to the stall. "She's human!" Phyllis went back to her bedroom and wrote down the third dream just like she wrote down the other two dreams. She then got a trunk out from under her bed and then gently put the papers in it before hiding it under her bed again.
Gordon did get married to Edith. It didn't last more than two years. Edith moved out after the divorce. Gordon never felt sad about it, he told Phyllis himself.
Speaking to a wealthy friend he realized that he had a feeling for investments. So he borrowed $1,000 from that wealthy friend, invested it on small cap stocks on January, 1 1970 that turned out $2,314. He's been investing ever since. Gordon worked hard and bought his first property in 1978. Things became much better financially for both him and Phyllis. Fifteen years later they really became respected by the vampire community and very much influential. Gordon could have any vampire he wanted; even humans were falling all over him. Both Phyllis and Gordon forgot the dreams she had predicting his one and only true love. Phyllis forgets what she'd hidden in her trunk, even though it's still a very much important trunk to her because it was the only thing left of their parents.
Phyllis was helping out with the property business since 1993 but grew bored after sixteen years. She started traveling the world in 2009; long vacations; short vacations; exotic islands. She could drink blood from anyone she wanted.
She meets Scott Dane in the middle 2010, a vampire, during a trip. They're very much in love and it looks as if she's found love at last. Phyllis buys a house for them in England; the place Scott was born.
Now it's the year 2012, Gordon is still one of the wealthiest vampires because of his business skills and hard work. There's almost no end to all his properties and wealth. Phyllis is sitting outside watching two human girls her age enjoy the pool. She's relocated back to America for the time being; and is living with Gordon in his home. She advertised for one au pair giving the impression that it's a child that needs loooking after. At the end she decided on four human au pairs. She's always liked going to extreme. She grew exhausted of just having vampires around her after her last devastating brake up with a vampire named Scott Dane. She knows Gordon won't like it, but it's her life, isn't it? She's waiting for the fourth girl to arrive. The doorbell rings. She gets up and paces to the front door. Her human walk has been practised for a long time. But then again, she was once human herself. Even though she can't remember how it feels anymore, she sometimes wishes she'd wake up one day and be human again.
