Chapter 13: Nicole- Nothing Good Ever Comes From Wearing Heels

“He stood you up?” Emia asked.

I nodded. I was trying so hard not to cry.

“Ohh Nicole,” Emia said sympathetically. She hugged me. I felt a few tears slide down my face. I tried to wipe them off before Mike or Emia saw them. This would be the second time I had cried in front Mike. I really wanted to stop crying but the tears just kept coming out.

“What happened?” Emia asked.

I was still trying to wipe away tears.

“Well first he said he would pick me up at my house. Then he texted me and said to just meet him at the restaurant instead and I was cool with that. So I went to the restaurant and waited and waited and waited. I waited for an hour and he just never showed up.”

Emia held me tighter. I glanced up at Mike. He looked like he was in deep thought. He also looked like he wanted to hit something. Emia let go.

“I have just the thing you need,” she said. She left and went downstairs.

I put my head in hands and took a deep breath. I need to pull myself together.

Mike finally spoke. “Nicole, Derek is just a jerk.”

“I know but…I just…How could I be so stupid? How could actually think that he liked me?” I let the rest on my body fall onto the bed. “I feel like crap.”

I sat up and took my shoes off. “Nothing good ever comes from wearing heels.”

“I can’t believe he stood you up! Do you want me to beat him up for you?” He asked.

I smiled. “That would be great.”

It was just like Mike to try to protect me. He was just amazing like that.

Emia came back in. She had fudge stripped cookies, ice cream, and a movie. I laughed. She always knew just what to do to cheer me up.

“It’s The Hangover,” she said referring to the movie. She knew it was my favorite movie.

“Well you guys have fun. I gotta get going,” Mike said.

I really wish he would stay. He made me feel safe and protected.

“Bye,” Emia and I said.

“Bye guys.” He left.

“I hate my love life.”

*Mike’s P.O.V.*

I was pissed. How could Derek just stand her up like that? What was his problem? This was the second time I had seen Nicole cry.

He needed to be taught a lesson.

I pulled into his driveway. Nicole would kill me if she find out that I did this. Good thing she wouldn’t find out.

I rang his doorbell.

“Hey man,” he said.

“Do you have any idea how bad you made Nicole feel?” I said already ready to punch him.

He laughed. “Dude that was the funniest prank I’ve pulled yet!”

“Prank? What prank?”

“Make the loser girl think you like her, ask her on a date, then stand her up. Best prank ever!” He continued to laugh.

“WHAT?!” I punched him in the eye.

“What the hell? What was that for.”

“If you ever go near Nicole again I won’t leave you with just a black eye.” I turned around and left.

That felt sooo good.
