Chapter five
“Its so pretty!” I awed at all of the bright lights and the music. I had a cotton candy on a red and white striped stick, it was the sweetest thing I had ever tasted.
“You are so sheltered.” Patty laughed, her boyfriend Tommy rolled his eyes at me and handed me a lemon shake up to go with my cotton candy. I took in a long gulp and almost passed out from how wonderful it tasted on my tongue.
“Winnie would you like to go on the Pepper Shaker with me?” Ben, my ‘date’ asked. He was cute, if you liked the business-guys-son, sorta guy. Bad thing was that I wasn’t to fond of that type of guy.
“Sure.” I smiled at him, he had slicked back, black hair. He wore a nice button down shirt with some kaki pants and some nice shoes, something I thought was a little over the top for a town carnival.
“Great.” He said in his always happy voice. I smiled and skipped over to the Pepper Shaker, my pretty pink dress bounced around me. Once we got out tickets we took a seat and let the metal bar strap us in the seat and I laughed and screamed as the ride shook us up and down and let and right, it was crazy and my head hurt from all the moving around. I laughed and smiled at Ben.
“Lets go again!” I hopped up and down, hoping he was going to say yes and let me go again, however if he wasn’t then I was going to be sitting alone, without him.
“Sure.” He smiled, it didn’t reach his eyes. I clapped and handed the carnie another ticket and once I ride was over again I still wasn’t ready to get off, however Ben almost drug me out of the cart.
“Please let go of my arm.” I said through my teeth, his grip on my wrist hurt and he wasn’t letting up. I tried to yank It lightly, getting away but he only tugged on it harder.
“Lets go get some coca cola’s.” He suggested, still holding my wrist but I wasn’t in the mood to be yanked around and I wasn’t thirsty so tried to move his hand with my left one.
“Just let me hold you hand Winnie.” He looked at me, almost glaring. He had moved his had from my wrist to linking our fingers.
“Please let go!” I struggled but he didn’t seem to notice. I started to almost panic when I felt someone walk up behind me.
“Ben let go of the ladies arm.” A very sharp, deadly voice spoke out and I turned around and almost fainted.
Ben snapped around and his grid loosened but didn’t let go.
“She’s my date, go find your own.” Ben growled. I looked at Ben and decided he was maybe around 5’11, then I looked at my savior and guessed he was about 6’0.
“Well she doesn’t look like she is having fun so please let her go.” He said very polity, which made it seem so more much threatening. I felt his grip loosen a little more so I took the chance and yanked my hand free, stumbling back into my saviors arms.
“Whoa are you alright?” he asked in a sweet Sothern voice that I had yet to hear to well. I looked up at his dark blue eyes and they held a smile.
“Uh… yes… thank you.” I stammered and stood up straight, almost hiding behind him to get away from Ben, who I know fully do not trust one bit.
“Come one Winnie lets go get a soda.” Ben reached around and tried to grab me again but my savior stopped his hand by grabbing it and gently pushing it back to Ben’s side.
“Go find your friends Ben.” He told him and Ben snorted in defeat and turned and walked back to Patty and Tommy.
“You shouldn’t be with him alone, im surprised he didn’t try and get you alone.” My nameless savior turned to be and looked down at my scared face.
“Thank you for helping me.” I told him quietly. He smiled and pushed some blonde hair behind my ear.
“Hey you wanna go on the Pepper Shaker with me?” He asked, smiling like a child. His cute shaggy blonde hair was all a mess. I nodded like crazy and grabbed his hand. We both smiled and took off running to my new favorite ride.
