“I remember meeting a friend at this very spot.” Chase felt his heart race, but he remained calm. “Oh really, what was this friend of yours like?” Brenda opened her eyes and looked at the shooting star streak across the sky. “He was a very dear friend of mine. We were joined to the hip. His name was Chase Calder and oh how I miss him.”

With the light of the moon, Chase was able to see the tears that fell from Brenda’s eyes. It took everything in him to not touch her. “He must have been someone very special for you to shed tears ma’am.” Brenda wiped the tears and looked over at the stranger. She nodded, “You wanna know a secret?” Chase smiled and said, “I’m all ears ma’am.”

Brenda inhaled the cool crisp breeze. “I never got a chance to tell Chase that he’s the only boy that I lost my heart to.” Chase’s eyes grew wide as he looked over at Brenda. “What about that guy with you at Longston? Ain’t you two together?” Brenda chuckled, “You mean Don White? Nope, he’s a foreman and a very good friend of mine. Daddy hired him just before he retired. Don and I care for each other, but we don’t have any romantic feelings for each other.”
