"Dean! Wait up!" I yelled. Dean was not the most patiant person, by he's my best friend.
"Aw, hurry up Jess!" Dean yelled back to me, although he wasn't even trying to slow down his pace.
Dean and I have been friends since the third grade, and he treats me like I'm his little sister.
"Dean!" I whined. Finally he stopped walking and turned around, the look on his face was annoyed. When I caught up to him my breathing was so heavy I could hardly talk.
"You OK?" Dean asked.
"Y-yeah," I panted, "J-just fine."
"You don't look 'just fine'."
"Thanks a lot!" I jokingly yelled.
"You know what I mean."
"Hey guys!" A sudden voice called. I looked over my shoulder and saw Matt quickly approching.
I met Matt on the first day of middle school. Dean went to a different school for the sixth grade, and so I didn't have any friends there. I met Matt that day and we've been friends since. However, the next year when Dean came to my school, he got a little jelous of Matt.
"Hi, Matt!" I said as he walked up to me.
"Hey, Jess. So what are your plans for this weekend?"
"Nothing. Hey, where's Jake?" I asked. Matt's expression turned cold as soon as I mentioned Jake's name.
Jake was the quiet, shy, smart, type of guy.... at first. In reality he gets into more trouble than anyone I know. We met in the 8th grade, in detention. We started talking and found out we had a lot in common.
"Jake had to stay after class, he got in to an argument."
"That doesn't sound so bad."
"It was the teacher that he argued with."
"Aw, I wanted us all to go out to see a movie or somthing." I said.
"We can go without Jake." Dean said, "But if Matt doesn't want th go then...."
Matt just glared at him. Another fight between them was adout to start, and I had to do somthing.
"I rented 30 Days of Night yesterday, we can watch it at my house if you guys want to come over." I said.
"Sure, that sounds great!" Matt said.
"Whatever." Dean said, back to his emotionless self.
"Ok, let's go!"
Not much happened in this chapter, but the romance will start soon!
