Romance

She just never sang about love.

Enter Eric Fenson, a booming musician…well, in Britain he’s booming. His manager thought the idea of building a career in America would give him and Eric more money. His manager wants to form a band, with all boys but one girl.

Piper really didn’t sign up for the part – she just bumped into Eric at a Starbucks café while singing to a song on her iPod, and after spilling her coffee Eric suggested she have his managers card and call.

But after working together Piper might just let her guards down and have Eric be the only exception…

Starting New

A/N –Hey guys! This is my first story here on booksie and I was wondering if I should continue this. Please leave a comment and let me know! :) (I will add the next chapter if I get atleast 20 comments...so please let the word go around!)

[~Chapter One~]

Piper’s POV

I dialed Kyle’s number frantically. I couldn’t believe he was completely blowing this date off! Now I was all alone, in what was supposed to be a double date…so much for double…

I knew it was my perfect getaway when Lea and her beefy steroid-built boyfriend were getting lovey dovey on the restaurant couch, so I quickly stood up and went outside.

After a couple of rings, Kyle finally answered. ‘’Hello?’’ His voice sounded distorted, and I could tell he was drunk.

‘’Kyle—‘’ A lump formed in my throat. I felt like crying. He was at a party…drinking? While I sat here having to sit through Lea’s goo-goo-ga-ing over her beefed up boyfriend? ‘’Why did you ditch me?’’ I managed to get out.

I heard him stumble over and break something. ‘’Now, now, you…you’re a skank just like the others…’’

‘’Skank?!’’ I gasped at the word. ‘’Kyle you’re drunk, and you need to get home! I’m calling a cab and I’m picking you up!’’

Just then I had heard a female’s voice speak from behind him. ‘’Baby, come on, get back to bed so we can go for another round.’’

I dropped the phone, tears streaming down my eyes. The tears finally found a way to escape me.

Lea came out surprisingly without her boyfriend. ‘’Piper?’’ She grabbed my shoulders and pulled me in for a hug. ‘’What happened? Are you alright?’’

I shook my head, burying my head on her shoulder. ‘’He cheated on me! Kyle got drunk and cheated on me!’’ I sobbed.

Lea’s beefy boyfriend came out with Lea’s jacket and my jacket. ‘’I guess we’re leaving.’’ He said with his deep voice. Ugh, I swear, he was way too old for her.

Lea nodded, took both of our jackets and gave mine to me. We hopped into Beefy boyfriend’s mini van and were on our way home.

That night is a night I will never forget.

Erics POV

‘’A 1,2,3,4!’’ I shouted, beginning to play my guitar. The girls went wild, from signs like ‘’Ashley loves Eric,’’ to pictures of my head pasted on a stick – which was freakishly scary. But what can you say? I was hot – my body, my smile, everything. No homo of course, it’s nothing but a big ego.

I gave the girls my infamous grin, which they loved. I must have heard a zillion ‘’I love you Eric Fenson’s’’, before and after the performance. It didn’t surprise me one bit.

I walked across the stage, touching fan girl’s sweaty hands and absolutely loving – and hating the moment. See, I absolutely hated when the…not so good-looking girls forced me to touch them. I made sure they were kicked out of the after parties.

After the performance, I threw my leather jacket out to the crazy crowd and ran off stage with my crew. My best friend, Ian, was giving some chick his number on her cleavage. I can’t believe he let some girl come backstage with him…he was the pervert of the group.

‘’Dude, did you see that hot blondie?’’ Ian said, setting his guitar down on the stand. I eyed myself in the mirror. ‘’Big b—‘’

‘’I just hope you don’t go dating a fan like the more desperate stars out there,’’ I chuckled. Rolling his eyes, he went to go talk about girls to the other crewmates. Well, I got rid of that animal. And I usually could, anytime I wanted. He was easily annoyed.

Our manager, Sean Hendrickson had popped in, a smirk spread across his face. This meant it was something about money, something we didn’t like but he did. I sighed and turned my attention towards him.

‘’Alright boys,’’ He said enthusiastically. ‘’Great job. The girls love you, and I bet they’ll love you more in America.’’

‘’Woah, woah, woah!’’ Ian exclaimed. ‘’We can’t just leave our big career in Britain behind!’’

Sean shook his head. He truly was a douche. ‘’Listen, I’m the one in charge here and I say we’re going.’’

I figured it was my time to have a say here. ‘’Look, can’t we stay in Britain for a year or two? We have a whole reputation here. It’ll take a lot of work to start fresh.’’

‘’Well, well, Mr. Bigshot. Are you forgetting who is in charge here? Mr. Sean Hendrickson is! See, this is why I got you passports the minute I saw your lonely, sappy attitudes. C’mon, it’ll be fun!’’ He was obviously being sarcastic, because he followed up with his usual evil giggle.

I knew I had to be the hero here. ‘’Well…well…we’re not going!’’

‘’Oh, we’re going.’’ Sean said, a sly grin on his face.

So this was the lifeline I’ve been waiting to pull on this jerk. Ever since he discovered us, he’s been making us his puppets. So I inhaled deep, and spoke. ‘’And what if we fire you?’’

‘’Are you serious? If you know what’s good for you, you’ll know I’m the only thing close to real business out there! Now come on, we’ve got a plane to catch soon!’’

We all groaned, picking up our instruments and following his lead out of the door.

Piper’s POV

I was just beginning to think up a chorus for my new song when Lea came bursting in. She sat by my bed, setting her laptop on her lap and typing.

‘’So you’re not going to believe what I found on gossip news.’’ She said, her eyes going wide. ‘’I’m so stealing this for my blog!’’

I leaned over to see what she was so giddy about. ‘’Britain’s hottest boy band coming to America,’’ I read. ‘’Looking for girl vocalist,’’

Lea shot a glance at me. I knew what that meant, and there was absolutely no way I was going to go over there and audition. For an all boy band! I didn’t need to be in a room filled with rough boys anyways. I was better off solo.

‘’Please?’’ Lea asked, hopeful. ‘’You’re so great at singing! This is your opportunity.’’

I sighed, going back to writing my song. ‘’Look, Lea. Things have changed for me. I want to become solo – what have they even put out? No one knows them.’’

‘’They’re popular in Britain. Plus, they put out ‘’I Need You in My Life, Can I be Yours, Whatever it Takes—‘’

Love songs. So not my thing, not after the issue with Kyle. ‘’Lea…you know my feelings about love songs.’’

Lea leaned back on a pillow in my bed continuing to type. ‘’Piper…you have to get over Kyle someday. That was like…a year ago.’’

I began to scrawl some words down on the paper. ‘’So? It still was an unforgettable moment.’’

‘’So you just refuse to have anything to do with love, and even love songs?’’ She closed her laptop finally and took a look at my paper as I scrawled some lyrics down in my messy handwriting.

Maybe Lea was right, but it was too late now. Nothing was going to change my mind.

Lea had always been my best friend, ever since we met in Middle School. We met at the school talent show. I was singing ‘’Over the Rainbow,’’ and she was going to sing ‘’Oops I did it Again,’’ (She absolutely adored Britney Spears.)

But in High school she found her true thing, and I had found mine. She was into blogging and gossip while I was into singing.

Despite that we’re complete opposites, we’re still best friends and well…we live together.

‘’I really love that one. Are you sure you don’t want to audition?’’ Lea asked for the thousandth time.

‘’No,’’ I growled. ‘’I’m not going to be the odd one out in an all boy band anyways.’’ I bit my pen, trying to think, but I couldn’t. What if this was my chance, but I was just distancing myself away from it because of love songs?

What if I could be crying while singing a happy love song during audition?

Lea’s phone rang, and she answered. I could tell by the way she was talking – happy, and excited – that it was her newer boyfriend, Matt. A little bit smaller than Beefy, but a lotta bit younger.

‘’I’ve gotta go, Pipey, Matt wants to take me out on a date. If you need anything call, okay? Like if you want to come.’’

I sighed. ‘’No, that’s fine. I’m good right here. I need to get back to writing anyways. Have fun.’’

Lea got up and left, and I was finally alone. I chewed on the end of my pencil. These ‘’Be yourself’’ songs I had kept writing since the Kyle incident and the ‘’Break up’’ songs I had were getting old.
