Prologue

A tear drop rolled down her cheek. The small drop of liquid waited for less than a second until it dropped onto the already wet ground.
A young, angry man was turning away from her. If it were possible, she wasn't able to see any of his features and at the same time, she could. But she knew that she knew him incredibly well and they were so close.
Used to be close.
He wore a dark tuxedo and as he turned around it began to rain little red heart-shapes. Not the real heart kinds, but the cute and pretty ones. But they were dripping with a red, sticky liquid that mixed in with the puddles at the ground when they fell.
Stop!' she cried out, but he didn't stop at all. His determined footsteps didn't even waver. He didn't turn around, but carried right on walking away from her.
More and more distancing formed between them. Leaving her alone ... all alone and by herself. “Please, don’t leave this way!” she screamed heart-brokenly, her voice cracking. No response. She gasped and took a breath as a new wave of sobs escaped her lips.
Only his constant footsteps were heard with the pouring rain. But even they were now fading away and disappearing gradually.
Her hands clutched her chest, where her heart would be, and she slowly let herself fall to the ground. She sat down on the wet ground, defeated and felt incredibly alone, as rain the rain mixed with her tears and the thunder overpowered her voice, as she cried. Her heart felt like it was breaking away piece by piece helplessly, unable to stop bleeding. She felt betrayed and tired.
Her eyes flickered open with a start. Her hands were gripping the duvet anxiously and her body was sticky with sweat. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm down and she sat up in her bed, throwing the tangled mess away from her feverish feet. A frown worked its way across her forehead. Bizarre dream, was all she made of it.
