- Broken Doll -

Novel By: WhisperMyFairytale
Romance

A girl called Leila, is someone who cannot cry or laugh, or show any emotions since she had seen her parents' ghostly white and lifeless, dead bodies in their living-room. She was only five.

Not even a tear had fallen down her cheek, not once did her eyes well up. Not once did she look away from her mother's glazed eyes, and not once did she force herself to look away from her father's pale, dead face. Not once did she ask anyone that what it means where her parents were gone.

She was in shock. And worst of all, she saw it all happen. That man who had murdered her parents, she saw him; those insane blue eyes.

Even after eleven long years she has never cried for someone, laughed with a friend ... she's broken. Like a doll that cannot express her emotions. She pretends to be like everyone else, she wants to be like a normal girl but it's not really her when she can't even cry, giggle, or be angry. She is numb from the inside. And she refuses to feel anything and face reality.

So what happens when a new guy makes an entrance at her school? Can he make her love again? Can he make her cry again? Can he make her smile?

Prologue

The girl who was known as the one, who never shed a tear for anyone and never laughed with anyone, was now trying not to cry. Almost; tears were stinging behind her eyes. In front of someone who had mattered to her months ago and hadn't realised until now, but she was afraid to fall in love. Everyone who she had loved had left her. How could she trust him to stay?

"But I love you," he said, helplessly. He tried to pull her close but she moved away from him.

"I can't," she said, wiped her tears away roughly.

"What do you want me to do?" he asked, desperately. He didn't want to let her go. He loved her too much. "I - I'll do anything to stay with you. Tell me, what do you want me to do? You can't just deny everything!" He was getting angry and upset.

"You can't do anything," she whispered, looking up at his light brown eyes, those golden brown eyes that she had come to love now. Love, she thought, how overwhelming. It's too much to bear. I should have never come into his life.

"Tell me, and I will," he said, holding her hands up to him and moving closer to her. This time she didn't budge. "Please," he whispered, as his eyes watered. "You can trust me."

She felt as if she couldn't hurt anymore until she realised how much he cared for her. She could tell that he loved her, but could she love him back? Could she let her guard down finally and let him know every single thing about her? Would he leave her like everyone else? Only time would tell. But one thing she was sure about what that she didn't want to let him get closer to her. She was scared.

Scared, she thought, and shivered inwardly, closing her eyes, a feeling I've denied since my parents were no more. When she had opened her eyes, she could see his face getting closer and he lifted her face up to his. She squeezed her eyes shut and today, for the first time ever in ten years, Leila cried. Tears rolled down her cheeks. The kiss didn't last long, and her tears continued to pour down her cheeks, staining her top with their sadness.

"Stay," he said, with determination. "I didn't love you just to let you go."

"You have to," she said, her usual monotonous voice returning. Her eyes stopped dripping with tears and were now shining with the lingering moisture. She looked up at him with newfound resolve. I can't make him ruin his life for me. We are not meant to be, she thought. "We are not meant to be," she repeated aloud.
