Chapter 1

The grand feast

“Welcome my Lord to the Grand Feast” these words were to be heard outside the great hall of a city repeated over and over again, as a single guardsman had the duty of greeting the guests to a feast taking place. When entering the hall the guests were greeted to tables full of food with crowds of people seated around several large wooden tables. The hall went with the style of the people currently occupying, made by the finest of everything, be it the fine wooden floor or the marble pillars designed to show that it was the grandest hall in all the kingdoms which in turn was there to show that the city must be the grandest city, the grandest city belonging to the mightiest realm.

The Lords and Ladies inside the hall had one consistent trait, the need to feel more important than the people sitting next to them. As the Lords and ladies kept trying to show their importance the hall became extremely noisy quickly with only signs that it would get louder as people started to talk over each other. The noise however became to an abrupt end as a man shouted out “Silence for the king!” this causing everybody to turn in the direction of the man shouting. Next to this man sat the king of the city and realm. The table he was sitting at was at the end of the hall and his seat being bigger than all the other with red pillows and jewels added to the frame of the seat.

The king stood up and called out loudly “Welcome to my grand feast. We are all here to remember Sir George a true man and Lord who served my kingdom with great passion”. This was only the beginning of his speech; the hall other than the king was now completely silent. This would be true if it was not for a man and woman in a corner table whispering to each other.

The man was constantly messing with the fringe of his long dark hair. “I know your nervous but don’t mess up your hair, don’t worry we will be out of here soon enough” whispered the woman sat next to him. “Me nervous? At least my hair started nice yours is just your typical brown ball of mess... I’m not nervous I just can’t stand this place, we head back home tomorrow I won’t attend the tournament; people won’t realize my absence any way” he replied back. Both the man and woman paused whispering to each other and turned their heads towards the king, for he had just finished his speech by saying “Now where is Sir James, lets us hear of the great deeds of Sir George from one who would know him best his one and only son, please come to my side!”.

At that moment in a reluctant manner of movement the dark haired man stood up from his seat and walked towards the king and stood on his left and there the dark haired man gave out a short speech “Thank you my Lords and Ladies as Sir George’s son it gives me great honour and pride to host you all whom he cared so much for and who better to care for than all the noblest and mightiest people in this great realm. I Thank you all, please all enjoy tonight in the memory of my father”
